Isaiah 36

1 Sennacherib invadeth Judah. 4 Rabshekeh, sent by Sennacherib, by blasphemous persuasions soliciteth the people to revolt. 22 His words are told the Hezekiah.

 36:1 ¶ Nowe it came to passe x1961 in the fourteenth 702 6240 yeere 8141 of king 4428 Hezekiah, 2396 [that] Sennacherib 5576 king 4428 of Assyria 804 came vp 5927 z8804 against x5921 all x3605 the defenced 1219 z8803 cities 5892 of Iudah, 3063 and tooke 8610 z8799 them.

 36:2 And the king 4428 of Assyria 804 sent 7971 z8799 x853 Rabshakeh, 7262 from Lachish 3923 x4480 to Ierusalem, 3389 vnto x413 king 4428 Hezekiah, 2396 with a great 3515 armie: y2426 x2428 and he stood 5975 z8799 by the conduit 8585 of the vpper 5945 poole 1295 in the high way 4546 of the fullers 3526 z8801 field. 7704

 36:3 Then came forth 3318 z8799 vnto x413 him Eliakim 471 Hilkiahs 2518 sonne, 1121 which x834 [was] ouer x5921 the house, 1004 and Shebna 7644 the scribe, 5608 z8802 and Ioah 3098 Asaphs 623 sonne 1121 the Recorder. 2142 z8688

 36:4 ¶ And Rabshakeh 7262 sayd 559 z8799 vnto x413 them; Say 559 z8798 yee now x4994 to x413 Hezekiah; 2396 Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the great 1419 king, 4428 the king 4428 of Assyria; 804 What x4100 confidence 986 is this x2088 wherein x834 thou trustest? 982 z8804

 36:5 I say, 559 z8804 (sayest thou) (but x389 [they are but] vaine 8193 words) 1697 [I haue] counsell 6098 and strength 1369 for warre: 4421 Now x6258 on x5921 whom x4310 doest thou trust, 982 z8804 that x3588 thou rebellest 4775 z8804 against me?

 36:6 Loe, x2009 thou trustest 982 z8804 in x5921 the staffe 4938 of this x2088 broken 7533 z8803 reede, 7070 on x5921 Egypt; 4714 whereon x834 x5921 if a man 376 leane, 5564 z8735 it will goe 935 z8804 into his hand 3709 and pierce 5344 z8804 it: so x3651 [is] Pharaoh 6547 king 4428 of Egypt 4714 to all x3605 that trust 982 z8802 in x5921 him.

 36:7 But x3588 if thou say 559 z8799 to x413 me; We trust 982 z8804 in x413 the LORD 3068 our God: 430 [Is] it not x3808 he, x1931 x853 whose x834 high places 1116 and whose altars 4196 Hezekiah 2396 hath taken away, 5493 z8689 and sayd 559 z8799 to Iudah 3063 and to Ierusalem; 3389 Yee shall worship 7812 z8691 before 6440 this x2088 altar? 4196

 36:8 Now x6258 therefore giue pledges, y6148 z8690 x6149 I pray thee, x4994 to x854 my master 113 the king 4428 of Assyria, 804 and I will giue 5414 z8799 thee two thousand 505 horses, 5483 if x518 thou be able 3201 z8799 on thy part to set 5414 z8800 riders 7392 z8802 vpon x5921 them.

 36:9 How x349 then wilt thou turne away 7725 z8686 x853 the face 6440 of one 259 captaine 6346 of the least 6996 of my masters 113 seruants: 5650 and put thy trust 982 z8799 on x5921 Egypt 4714 for charets 7393 and for horsemen? 6571

 36:10 And am I now x6258 come vp 5927 z8804 without 1107 x4480 the LORD 3068 against x5921 this x2063 land 776 to destroy 7843 z8687 it? the LORD 3068 sayd 559 z8804 vnto x413 me; Goe vp 5927 z8798 against x413 this x2063 land 776 and destroy 7843 z8685 it.

 36:11 ¶ Then sayd 559 z8799 Eliakim 471 and Shebna 7644 & Ioah 3098 vnto x413 Rabshakeh; 7262 Speake, 1696 z8761 I pray thee, x4994 vnto x413 thy seruants 5650 in the Syrian language; 762 for x3588 we x587 vnderstand 8085 z8802 [it]: and speake 1696 z8762 not x408 to x413 vs in the Iewes language, 3066 in the eares 241 of the people 5971 that x834 [are] on x5921 the wall. 2346

 36:12 ¶ But Rabshakeh 7262 sayd; 559 z8799 Hath my master 113 sent 7971 z8804 me to x413 thy master 113 and to x413 thee, to speake 1696 z8763 x853 these x428 words? 1697 Hath he not x3808 [sent me] to x5921 the men y582 x376 that sit 3427 z8802 vpon x5921 the wall, 2346 that they may eate 398 z8800 x853 their owne dongue, 6675 y2716 z8676 and drinke 8354 z8800 x853 their owne pisse 4325 7272 z8675 y7890 with x5973 you?

 36:13 Then Rabshakeh 7262 stood, 5975 z8799 and cryed 7121 z8799 with a loud 1419 voice 6963 in the Iewes language, 3066 and sayd; 559 z8799 Heare 8085 z8798 ye x853 the words 1697 of the great 1419 king, 4428 the king 4428 of Assyria. 804

 36:14 Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the king; 4428 Let not x408 Hezekiah 2396 deceiue 5377 z8686 you, for x3588 he shall not x3808 be able 3201 z8799 to deliuer 5337 z8687 you.

 36:15 Neither x408 let Hezekiah 2396 make you trust 982 z8686 x853 in x413 the LORD, 3068 saying; 559 z8800 The LORD 3068 will surely y5337 z8687 deliuer 5337 z8686 vs: this x2063 citie 5892 shall not x3808 be deliuered 5414 z8735 into the hand 3027 of the King 4428 of Assyria. 804

 36:16 Hearken 8085 z8799 not x408 to x413 Hezekiah: 2396 for x3588 thus x3541 sayth 559 z8804 the King 4428 of Assyria, 804 Make 6213 z8798 an agreement with x854 mee by a present, 1293 and come out 3318 z8798 to x413 mee: and eate 398 z8798 yee euery one 376 of his vine, 1612 and euery one 376 of his figgetree, 8384 and drinke 8354 z8798 yee euery one 376 the waters 4325 of his owne cisterne: 953

 36:17 Until x5704 I come 935 z8800 and take you away 3947 z8804 x853 to x413 a land 776 like your owne land, 776 a land 776 of corne 1715 and wine, 8492 a land 776 of bread 3899 and vineyards: 3754

 36:18 [Beware] lest x6435 Hezekiah 2396 perswade 5496 z8686 you, saying; 559 z8800 The LORD 3068 will deliuer 5337 z8686 vs. Hath any 376 of the gods 430 of the nations 1471 deliuered 5337 z8689 x853 his land 776 out of the hand 3027 x4480 of the king 4428 of Assyria? 804

 36:19 Where x346 [are] the gods 430 of Hamath, 2574 and Arphad? 774 where x346 [are] the gods 430 of Sepharuaim? 5617 and x3588 haue they deliuered 5337 z8689 x853 Samaria 8111 out of my hand? 3027 x4480

 36:20 Who x4310 [are they] amongst all x3605 the gods 430 of these x428 landes, 776 that x834 haue deliuered 5337 z8689 x853 their land 776 out of my hand, 3027 x4480 that x3588 the LORD 3068 should deliuer 5337 z8686 x853 Ierusalem 3389 out of my hand? 3027 x4480

 36:21 But they held their peace, 2790 z8686 and answered 6030 z8804 him not x3808 a word: 1697 for x3588 the Kings 4428 commandement 4687 was, saying; 559 z8800 Answere 6030 z8799 him not. x3808

 36:22 ¶ Then came 935 z8799 Eliakim 471 the sonne 1121 of Hilkiah, 2518 that x834 [was] ouer x5921 the houshold, 1004 and Shebna 7644 the Scribe, 5608 z8802 and Ioah 3098 the sonne 1121 of Asaph 623 the Recorder, 2142 z8688 to x413 Hezekiah 2396 with [their] clothes 899 rent, 7167 z8803 and tolde 5046 z8686 him x853 the wordes 1697 of Rabshakeh. 7262
