Isaiah 31

The prophet sheweth the cursed folly, in trusting to Egypt, and forsaking of God. 6 He exhorteth to conversion. 8 He sheweth the fall of Assyria.

 31:1 ¶ Woe 1945 to them that go down 3381 z8802 to Egypt 4714 for helpe, 5833 and stay 8172 z8735 on x5921 horses, 5483 and trust 982 z8799 in x5921 charets, 7393 because x3588 they [are] many; 7227 and in x5921 horsemen, 6571 because x3588 they are very y3966 strong: 6105 z8804 x3966 but they looke 8159 z8804 not x3808 vnto x5921 the Holy one 6918 of Israel, 3478 neither x3808 seeke 1875 z8804 the LORD. 3068

 31:2 Yet he x1931 also x1571 [is] wise, 2450 and will bring 935 z8686 euill, 7451 and wil not x3808 call backe 5493 z8689 his words: 1697 but will arise 6965 z8804 against x5921 the house 1004 of the euill doers, 7489 z8688 and against x5921 the helpe 5833 of them that worke 6466 z8802 iniquitie. 205

 31:3 Now the Egyptians 4714 [are] men 120 and not x3808 God, 410 and their horses 5483 flesh 1320 and not x3808 spirit: 7307 when the LORD 3068 shall stretch out 5186 z8686 his hand, 3027 both he that helpeth 5826 z8802 shall fall, 3782 z8804 and hee that is holpen 5826 z8803 shall fall downe, 5307 z8804 and they all x3605 shall faile 3615 z8799 together. 3162

 31:4 For x3588 thus x3541 hath the LORD 3068 spoken 559 z8804 vnto x413 me; Like as x834 the lyon 738 and the yong lyon 3715 roaring 1897 z8799 on x5921 his pray, 2964 when x834 a multitude 4393 of shepheards 7462 z8802 is called foorth 7121 z8735 against x5921 him, he will not x3808 be afraid 2865 z8735 of their voice, 6963 x4480 nor x3808 abase 6031 z8799 himselfe for the noyse 1995 x4480 of them: so x3651 shall the LORD 3068 of hostes 6635 come downe 3381 z8799 to fight 6633 z8800 for x5921 mount 2022 Zion, 6726 and for x5921 the hill 1389 thereof.

 31:5 As birds 6833 flying, 5774 z8802 so x3651 wil the LORD 3068 of hostes 6635 defend 1598 z8686 x5921 Ierusalem, 3389 defending 1598 z8800 also hee will deliuer 5337 z8689 [it, and] passing ouer, 6452 z8800 he will preserue 4422 z8689 [it].

 31:6 ¶ Turne 7725 z8798 yee vnto him from whom x834 the children 1121 of Israel 3478 haue deeply 6009 z8689 reuolted. 5627

 31:7 For x3588 in that x1931 day 3117 euery man 376 shall cast away 3988 z8799 his idoles 457 of siluer, 3701 and his idoles 457 of gold, 2091 which x834 your owne hands 3027 haue made 6213 z8804 vnto you for a sinne. 2399

 31:8 ¶ Then shall the Assyrian 804 fall 5307 z8804 with the sword, 2719 not x3808 of a mightie man; 376 and the sword, 2719 not x3808 of a meane man, 120 shal deuoure 398 z8799 him: but hee shall flee 5127 z8804 from 6440 x4480 the sword, 2719 and his young men 970 shall be x1961 discomfited. 4522

 31:9 And hee shall passe ouer 5674 z8799 to his strong holde 5553 for feare, 4032 x4480 and his princes 8269 shall be afraid 2865 z8804 of the ensigne, 5251 x4480 sayth 5002 z8803 the LORD, 3068 whose x834 fire 217 [is] in Zion, 6726 and his fornace 8574 in Ierusalem. 3389
