Deuteronomie 4

1 An exhortation to obedience. 41 Moses appointeth three cities of refuge on that side Jordan.

 4:1 ¶ Nowe x6258 therefore hearken, 8085 z8798 O Israel, 3478 vnto x413 the Statutes, 2706 and vnto x413 the Iudgments 4941 which x834 I x595 teach 3925 z8764 you, for to do 6213 z8800 [them], that x4616 ye may liue, 2421 z8799 and goe in 935 z8804 and possesse 3423 z8804 x853 the lande, 776 which x834 the LORD 3068 God 430 of your fathers 1 giueth 5414 z8802 you.

 4:2 Ye shall not x3808 adde 3254 z8686 vnto x5921 the word 1697 which x834 I x595 command 6680 z8764 you, neither x3808 shall you diminish 1639 z8799 [ought] from x4480 it, that ye may keepe 8104 z8800 x853 the Commaundements 4687 of the LORD 3068 your God, 430 which x834 I x595 command 6680 z8764 you.

 4:3 Your eyes 5869 haue seene 7200 z8802 x853 what x834 the LORD 3068 did 6213 z8804 because of Baal Peor: 1187 for x3588 all x3605 the men 376 that x834 followed 310 1980 z8804 Baal Peor, 1187 the LORD 3068 thy God 430 hath destroyed 8045 z8689 them from among 7130 x4480 you.

 4:4 But yee x859 that did cleaue 1695 vnto the LORD 3068 your God, 430 are aliue 2416 euery one x3605 of you this day. 3117

 4:5 Behold, 7200 z8798 I haue taught 3925 z8765 you Statutes, 2706 and Iudgements, 4941 euen as 834 the LORD 3068 my God 430 commanded 6680 z8765 me, that ye should do 6213 z8800 so, x3651 in 7130 the land 776 whither x834 x8033 ye x859 goe 935 z8802 to possesse 3423 z8800 it.

 4:6 Keepe 8104 z8804 therefore, and doe 6213 z8804 [them]; for x3588 this x1931 [is] your wisedome 2451 and your vnderstanding 998 in the sight 5869 of the nations, 5971 which x834 shall heare 8085 z8799 x853 all x3605 these x428 statutes, 2706 and say, 559 z8804 Surely x7535 this x2088 great 1419 nation 1471 is a wise 2450 and vnderstanding 995 z8737 people. 5971

 4:7 For x3588 what x4310 nation 1471 [is there so] great, 1419 who x834 hath God 430 so nigh 7138 vnto x413 them, as the LORD 3068 our God 430 [is] in all x3605 things, that we call 7121 z8800 vpon x413 him for?

 4:8 And what x4310 nation 1471 [is there so] great, 1419 that x834 hath Statutes 2706 and Iudgements 4941 [so] righteous, 6662 as all x3605 this x2063 Law 8451 which x834 I x595 set 5414 z8802 before 6440 you this day? 3117

 4:9 Onely x7535 take heed 8104 z8734 to thy selfe, and keepe 8104 z8798 thy soule 5315 diligently, 3966 lest x6435 thou forget 7911 z8799 x853 the things 1697 which x834 thine eyes 5869 haue seene, 7200 z8804 and lest x6435 they depart 5493 z8799 from thy heart 3824 x4480 all x3605 the dayes 3117 of thy life: 2416 but teach 3045 z8689 them thy sonnes, 1121 & thy sonnes 1121 sonnes: 1121

 4:10 [Specially], the day 3117 that x834 thou stoodst 5975 z8804 before 6440 the LORD 3068 thy God 430 in Horeb, 2722 when the LORD 3068 said 559 z8800 vnto x413 mee, Gather y6950 z0 me the people y5971 together, 6950 z8685 x853 x5971 and I will make them heare 8085 z8686 x853 my wordes, 1697 that x834 they may learne 3925 z8799 to feare 3372 z8800 mee all x3605 the dayes 3117 that x834 they x1992 shall liue 2416 vpon x5921 the earth, 127 and that they may teach 3925 z8762 their children. 1121

 4:11 And ye came neere 7126 z8799 and stood 5975 z8799 vnder x8478 the mountaine, 2022 and the mountaine 2022 burnt 1197 z8802 with fire 784 vnto x5704 the midst 3820 of heauen, 8064 with darkenes, 6205 cloudes, 6051 and thicke darkenesse. y2822 x6205

 4:12 And the LORD 3068 spake 1696 z8762 vnto x413 you out of the midst 8432 x4480 of the fire: 784 ye x859 heard 8085 z8802 the voyce 6963 of the words, 1697 but saw 7200 z8802 no x369 similitude, 8544 onely 2108 [ye heard] a voyce. 6963

 4:13 And he declared 5046 z8686 vnto you x853 his couenant, 1285 which x834 he commanded 6680 z8765 you to performe, 6213 z8800 [euen] ten 6235 comandements, 1697 and he wrote 3789 z8799 them vpon x5921 two 8147 tables 3871 of stone. 68

 4:14 ¶ And the LORD 3068 commanded 6680 z8765 me at that x1931 time, 6256 to teach 3925 z8763 you Statutes, 2706 and Iudgements, 4941 that yee might doe 6213 z8800 them in the land 776 whither x834 x8033 ye x859 goe ouer 5674 z8802 to possesse 3423 z8800 it.

 4:15 Take ye therfore good y3966 heed 8104 z8738 x3966 vnto your selues, 5315 (for x3588 ye saw 7200 z8804 no x3808 maner x3605 of similitude 8544 on the day 3117 [that] the LORD 3068 spake 1696 z8763 vnto x413 you in Horeb, 2722 out of the midst 8432 x4480 of the fire) 784

 4:16 Lest x6435 yee corrupt 7843 z8686 [your selues], and make 6213 z8804 you a grauen image, 6459 the similitude 8544 of any x3605 figure, 5566 the likenes 8403 of male, 2145 or x176 female, 5347

 4:17 The likenesse 8403 of any x3605 beast 929 that x834 [is] on the earth, 776 the likenes 8403 of any x3605 winged 3671 foule 6833 that x834 flieth 5774 z8799 in the aire, 8064

 4:18 The likenesse 8403 of any thing x3605 that creepeth 7430 z8802 on the ground, 127 the likenesse 8403 of any x3605 fish 1710 that x834 [is] in the waters 4325 beneath 8478 x4480 the earth: 776

 4:19 And lest x6435 thou lift vp 5375 z8799 thine eyes 5869 vnto heauen, 8064 and when thou seest 7200 z8804 x853 the sun, 8121 and the moone, 3394 and the starres, 3556 [euen] all x3605 the hoste 6635 of heauen, 8064 shouldest be driuen 5080 z8738 to worship 7812 z8694 them, and serue 5647 z8804 them, which x834 the LORD 3068 thy God 430 hath diuided 2505 z8804 x853 vnto all x3605 nations 5971 vnder x8478 the whole x3605 heauen. 8064

 4:20 But the LORD 3068 hath taken 3947 z8804 you, and brought you foorth 3318 z8686 x853 out of the yron 1270 fornace, 3564 x4480 [euen] out of Egypt, 4714 x4480 to bee x1961 vnto him a people 5971 of inheritance, 5159 [as ye are] this x2088 day. 3117

 4:21 Furthermore, the LORD 3068 was angry 599 z8694 with mee for your sakes, 1697 x5921 and sware 7650 z8735 that I should not x1115 goe ouer 5674 z8800 x853 Iordan, 3383 and that I should not x1115 goe y935 z8800 in x935 vnto x413 that good 2896 land 776 which x834 the LORD 3068 thy God 430 giueth 5414 z8802 thee [for] an inheritance. 5159

 4:22 But x3588 I x595 must die 4191 z8801 in this x2063 lande, 776 I must not x369 goe ouer 5674 z8802 x853 Iordan: 3383 but ye x859 shall goe ouer 5674 z8802 and possesse 3423 z8804 x853 that x2063 good 2896 land. 776

 4:23 Take heed 8104 z8734 vnto your selues, lest x6435 ye forget 7911 z8799 x853 the couenant 1285 of the LORD 3068 your God, 430 which x834 hee made 3772 z8804 with x5973 you, and make 6213 z8804 you a grauen image, 6459 [or] the likenes 8544 of any 3605 thing which x834 the LORD 3068 thy God 430 hath forbidden 6680 z8765 thee.

 4:24 For x3588 the LORD 3068 thy God 430 is a consuming 398 z8802 fire, 784 [euen] a iealous 7067 God. 410

 4:25 ¶ When x3588 thou shalt beget 3205 z8686 children, 1121 and childrens 1121 children, 1121 and shalt haue remained long 3462 z8738 in the land, 776 and shal corrupt 7843 z8689 [your selues], & make 6213 z8804 a grauen image, 6459 [or] the likenes 8544 of any x3605 thing, and shall doe 6213 z8804 euil 7451 in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068 thy God, 430 to prouoke him to anger: 3707 z8687

 4:26 I call 5749 z0 x853 heauen 8064 and earth 776 to witnesse 5749 z8689 against you this day, 3117 that x3588 ye shall soone 4118 vtterly y6 z8800 perish 6 z8799 from off x4480 x5921 the land 776 whereunto x834 x8033 you x859 goe ouer 5674 z8802 x853 Iordan, 3383 to possesse 3423 z8800 it: yee shall not x3808 prolong 748 z8686 [your] dayes 3117 vpon x5921 it, but x3588 shall vtterly y8045 z8736 bee destroyed. 8045 z8735

 4:27 And the LORD 3068 shall scatter 6327 z8689 you among the nations, 5971 and ye shall be left 7604 z8738 few 4962 in number 4557 among the heathen, 1471 whither x834 x8033 the LORD 3068 shall lead 5090 z8762 you.

 4:28 And there x8033 ye shall serue 5647 z8804 gods, 430 the worke 4639 of mens 120 hands, 3027 wood 6086 and stone, 68 which x834 neither x3808 see, 7200 z8799 nor x3808 heare, 8085 z8799 nor x3808 eate, 398 z8799 nor x3808 smell. 7306 z8686

 4:29 But if from thence x4480 x8033 thou shalt seeke 1245 z8765 x853 the LORD 3068 thy God, 430 thou shalt finde 4672 z8804 him, if x3588 thou seeke 1875 z8799 him with all x3605 thy heart, 3824 and with all x3605 thy soule. 5315

 4:30 When thou art in tribulation, 6862 and all x3605 these x428 things 1697 are come 4672 z8804 vpon thee, euen in the latter 319 dayes, 3117 if thou turne 7725 z8804 to x5704 the LORD 3068 thy God, 430 and shalt be obedient 8085 z8804 vnto his voice: 6963

 4:31 (For x3588 the LORD 3068 thy God 430 is a mercifull 7349 God) 410 he will not x3808 forsake 7503 z8686 thee, neither x3808 destroy 7843 z8686 thee, nor x3808 forget 7911 z8799 x853 the couenant 1285 of thy fathers, 1 which x834 he sware 7650 z8738 vnto them.

 4:32 For x3588 aske 7592 z8798 now x4994 of the dayes 3117 that are past, 7223 which x834 were 1961 z8738 before 6440 thee, since x4480 the day 3117 that x834 God 430 created 1254 z8804 man 120 vpon x5921 earth, 776 and [aske] from the one side 7097 x4480 of heauen 8064 vnto x5704 the other, x7097 x8064 whether there hath bene x1961 [any such thing] as this x2088 great 1419 thing 1697 is, or x176 hath bene heard 8085 z8738 like it? x3644

 4:33 Did [euer] people 5971 heare 8085 z8804 the voyce 6963 of God 430 speaking x1696 out y1696 z8764 of the midst 8432 x4480 of the fire, 784 as x834 thou x859 hast heard, 8085 z8804 and liue? 2421 z8799

 4:34 Or x176 hath God 430 assayed 5254 z8765 to goe 935 z8800 and take 3947 z8800 him a nation 1471 from the midst 7130 x4480 of [another] nation, 1471 by temptations, 4531 by signes, 226 and by wonders, 4159 and by warre, 4421 and by a mighty 2389 hand, 3027 and by a stretehed out 5186 z8803 arme, 2220 and by great 1419 terrors, 4172 according to all x3605 that x834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 did 6213 z8804 for you in Egypt 4714 before your eyes? 5869

 4:35 Unto thee x859 it was shewed, 7200 z8717 that thou mightest know, 3045 z8800 that x3588 the LORD 3068 hee x1931 is God; 430 there is none x369 else 5750 besides x4480 x905 him. y905

 4:36 Out of x4480 heauen 8064 hee made thee to heare 8085 z8689 x853 his voice, 6963 that he might instruct 3256 z8763 thee: and vpon x5921 earth 776 hee shewed 7200 z8689 thee x853 his great 1419 fire, 784 and thou heardest 8085 z8804 his words 1697 out of the midst 8432 x4480 of the fire. 784

 4:37 And because x8478 x3588 he loued 157 z8804 x853 thy fathers, 1 therefore he chose 977 z8799 their seed 2233 after 310 them, and brought thee out 3318 z8686 in his sight 6440 with his mightie 1419 power 3581 out of Egypt: 4714 x4480

 4:38 To driue out 3423 z8687 nations 1471 from before 6440 x4480 thee, greater 1419 and mightier 6099 then x4480 thou art, to bring y935 z8687 thee in, x935 to giue 5414 z8800 thee x853 their land 776 [for] an inheritance, 5159 as [it is] this x2088 day. 3117

 4:39 Know 3045 z8804 therefore this day, 3117 & consider 7725 z8689 it in x413 thine heart, 3824 that x3588 the LORD 3068 hee x1931 is God 430 in heauen 8064 aboue, 4605 x4480 and vpon x5921 the earth 776 beneath: x4480 x8478 there is none x369 else. x5750

 4:40 Thou shalt keepe 8104 z8804 therefore x853 his Statutes, 2706 and his Commandements, 4687 which x834 I x595 command 6680 z8764 thee this day; 3117 that x834 it may goe well 3190 z8799 with thee, and with thy children 1121 after 310 thee, and that x4616 thou mayest prolong 748 z8686 [thy] dayes 3117 vpon x5921 the earth, 127 which x834 the LORD 3068 thy God 430 giueth 5414 z8802 thee, for euer. x3605 x3117

 4:41 ¶ Then x227 Moses 4872 seuered 914 z8686 three 7969 cities 5892 on this side 5676 Iordan, 3383 toward the Sunne rising: 8121 4217

 4:42 That the slayer 7523 z8802 might flee 5127 z8800 thither, x8033 which x834 should kill 7523 z8799 x853 his neighbour 7453 vnawares, 1097 1847 and hated 8130 z8802 him not x3808 in times y8543 past, 8032 x4480 x8543 and that fleeing 5127 z8804 vnto x413 one 259 of x4480 these 411 cities 5892 he might liue: 2425 z8804

 4:43 [Namely], x853 Bezer 1221 in the wildernesse, 4057 in the plaine 4334 countrey 776 of the Reubenites; 7206 and Ramoth 7216 in Gilead 1568 of the Gadites; 1425 and Golan 1474 in Bashan, 1316 of the Manassites. 4520

 4:44 ¶ And this x2063 [is] the Law 8451 which x834 Moses 4872 set 7760 z8804 before 6440 the children 1121 of Israel: 3478

 4:45 These x428 [are] the Testimonies, 5713 and the Statutes, 2706 and the Iudgements, 4941 which x834 Moses 4872 spake 1696 z8765 vnto x413 the children 1121 of Israel, 3478 after they came foorth 3318 z8800 out of Egypt; 4714 x4480

 4:46 On this side 5676 Iordan 3383 in the valley 1516 ouer against 4136 Beth-Peor, 1047 in the land 776 of Sihon 5511 King 4428 of the Amorites, 567 who x834 dwelt 3427 z8802 at Heshbon, 2809 whom x834 Moses 4872 and the children 1121 of Israel 3478 smote, 5221 z8689 after they were come foorth 3318 z8800 out of Egypt. 4714 x4480

 4:47 And they possessed 3423 z8799 x853 his land, 776 and the land 776 of Og 5747 king 4428 of Bashan, 1316 two 8147 kings 4428 of the Amorites, 567 [which] x834 were on this side 5676 Iordan 3383 toward the sun rising, 4217 8121

 4:48 From Aroer, 6177 x4480 which x834 [is] by x5921 the banke 8193 of the riuer 5158 Arnon, 769 euen vnto x5704 mount 2022 Sion, 7865 which x1931 [is] Hermon, 2768

 4:49 And all x3605 the plaine 6160 of this side 5676 Iordan 3383 Eastward, 4217 euen vnto x5704 the sea, 3220 of the plaine 6160 vnder x8478 the springs 794 of Pisgah. 6449
