Ezekiel 17

1 Under the parable of two eagles and a vine, 11 is shewed God's judgment upon Jerusalem for revolting from Babylon to Egypt. 22 God promiseth to plant the cedar of the Gospel.

 17:1 ¶ And the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came x1961 vnto x413 mee, saying, 559 z8800

 17:2 Sonne 1121 of man, 120 put foorth 2330 z8798 a riddle, 2420 and speake 4911 z8798 a parable 4912 vnto x413 the house 1004 of Israel, 3478

 17:3 And say, 559 z8804 Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the Lord 136 GOD, 3069 A great 1419 eagle 5404 with great 1419 wings, 3671 long wing'd, 83 750 full 4392 of feathers, 5133 which x834 had diuers colours, 7553 came 935 z8804 vnto x413 Lebanon, 3844 and tooke 3947 z8799 x853 the highest branch 6788 of the Cedar. 730

 17:4 Hee cropt off 6998 z8804 x853 the top 7218 of his yong twigs, 3242 and caried 935 z8686 it into x413 a land 776 of traffique; 3667 he set 7760 z8804 it in a city 5892 of merchants. 7402 z8802

 17:5 Hee tooke 3947 z8799 also of the seed 2233 x4480 of the land, 776 and planted 5414 z8799 it in a fruitfull 2233 field, 7704 he placed 3947 z8804 it by x5921 great 7227 waters, 4325 [and] set 7760 z8804 it [as] a willow tree. 6851

 17:6 And it grew, 6779 z8799 and became x1961 a spreading 5628 z8802 Uine 1612 of low 8217 stature, 6967 whose branches 1808 turned 6437 z8800 toward x413 him, and the roots 8328 thereof were x1961 vnder x8478 him: so it became x1961 a Uine, 1612 and brought forth 6213 z8799 branches, 905 and shot y7971 z8762 foorth x7971 sprigges. 6288

 17:7 There was x1961 also an other 259 great 1419 eagle, 5404 with great 1419 wings 3671 and many 7227 feathers, 5133 and behold, x2009 this x2063 Uine 1612 did bend 3719 z8804 her rootes 8328 towards him, and shot forth 7971 z8765 her branches 1808 toward x5921 him, that hee might water 8248 z8687 it by the furrowes 6170 x4480 of her plantation. 4302

 17:8 It x1931 was planted 8362 z8803 in x413 a good 2896 soile 7704 by x413 great 7227 waters, 4325 that it might bring forth 6213 z8800 branches, 6057 and that it might beare 5375 z8800 fruit, 6529 that it might be x1961 a goodly 155 Uine. 1612

 17:9 Say 559 z8798 thou, Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the Lord 136 GOD; 3069 Shall it prosper? 6743 z8799 shall he not x3808 pull vp 5423 z8762 x853 the rootes 8328 thereof, and cut off 7082 z8779 the fruit 6529 thereof, that it wither? 3001 z8804 it shall wither 3001 z8799 in all x3605 the leaues y2964 x2965 of her spring, 6780 euen without x3808 great 1419 power, 2220 or many 7227 people 5971 to plucke it vp 5375 z8800 x853 by the rootes 8328 x4480 thereof.

 17:10 Yea behold, x2009 being planted, 8362 z8803 shall it prosper? 6743 z8799 shall it not x3808 vtterly y3001 z8800 wither, 3001 z8799 when the East 6921 wind 7307 toucheth 5060 z8800 it? it shal wither 3001 z8799 in x5921 the furrowes 6170 where it grew. 6780

 17:11 ¶ Moreouer the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 came x1961 vnto x413 me, saying, 559 z8800

 17:12 Say 559 z8798 now x4994 to the rebellious 4805 house, 1004 Know 3045 z8804 ye not x3808 what x4100 these x428 things [meane]? tell 559 z8798 them, behold, x2009 the king 4428 of Babylon 894 is come 935 z8802 to Ierusalem, 3389 and hath taken 3947 z8799 x853 the King 4428 thereof, and the Princes 8269 thereof, and ledde 935 z8686 them with x413 him to Babylon, 894

 17:13 And hath taken 3947 z8799 of the kings 4410 seed, 2233 x4480 and made 3772 z8799 a couenant 1285 with x854 him, and hath taken 935 z8686 an oath 423 of him: he hath also taken 3947 z8804 the mighty 352 of the land, 776

 17:14 That the kingdome 4467 might bee x1961 base, 8217 that it might not x1115 lift it selfe vp, 5375 z8692 [but] that by keeping 8104 z8800 x853 of his Couenant 1285 it might stand. 5975 z8800

 17:15 But he rebelled 4775 z8799 against him in sending 7971 z8800 his ambassadours 4397 into Egypt, 4714 that they might giue 5414 z8800 him horses 5483 and much 7227 people: 5971 shall he prosper? 6743 z8799 shall he escape 4422 z8735 that doeth 6213 z8802 such x428 things? or shall hee breake 6565 z8689 the Couenant, 1285 and bee deliuered? 4422 z8738

 17:16 As I x589 liue, 2416 saith 5002 z8803 the Lord 136 GOD, 3069 surely x518 x3808 in the place 4725 [where] the king 4428 [dwelleth] that made him king, 4427 z8688 x853 whose x834 x853 oath 423 he despised, 959 z8804 and whose x834 x853 couenant 1285 he brake, 6565 z8689 [euen] with x854 him, in the midst 8432 of Babylon 894 he shall die. 4191 z8799

 17:17 Neither x3808 shall Pharaoh 6547 with [his] mightie 1419 armie 2428 and great 7227 companie 6951 make 6213 z8799 for him in the warre 4421 by casting vp 8210 z8800 mounts, 5550 and building 1129 z8800 forts, 1785 to cut off 3772 z8687 many 7227 persons. 5315

 17:18 Seeing hee despised 959 z8804 the oath 423 by breaking 6565 z8687 the couenant 1285 (when loe, x2009 he had giuen 5414 z8804 his hand) 3027 and hath done 6213 z8804 all x3605 these x428 things, he shall not x3808 escape. 4422 z8735

 17:19 Therefore x3651 thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the Lord 136 GOD, 3069 As I x589 liue, 2416 surely x518 x3808 mine oath 423 that x834 he hath despised, 959 z8804 and my Couenant 1285 that x834 he hath broken, y6331 z8689 x6565 euen it will I recompense 5414 z8804 vpon his owne head. 7218

 17:20 And I will spread 6566 z8804 my net 7568 vpon x5921 him, & he shalbe taken 8610 z8738 in my snare, 4686 and I will bring 935 z8689 him to Babylon, 894 and will plead 8199 z8738 with x854 him there x8033 for his trespasse, 4603 z8804 that x834 he hath trespassed y4604 x4603 against me.

 17:21 And all x3605 his fugitiues, 4015 with all x3605 his bands, 102 shall fall 5307 z8799 by the sword, 2719 and they that remaine 7604 z8737 shalbe scattered 6566 z8735 towards all x3605 windes: 7307 and ye shall know 3045 z8804 that x3588 I x589 the LORD 3068 haue spoken 1696 z8765 [it].

 17:22 ¶ Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the Lord 136 GOD, 3069 I x589 wil also take 3947 z8804 of the highest branch 6788 x4480 of the high 7311 z8802 Cedar, 730 and will set 5414 z8804 [it], I will croppe off 6998 z8799 from the top 7218 x4480 of his yong twigges 3127 a tender one, 7390 and will plant 8362 z8804 [it] vpon x5921 an high 1364 mountaine 2022 and eminent. 8524 z8803

 17:23 In the mountaine 2022 of the height 4791 of Israel 3478 will I plant 8362 z8799 it: and it shall bring foorth 5375 z8804 boughes, 6057 and beare 6213 z8804 fruite, 6529 and be x1961 a goodly 117 Cedar, 730 and vnder x8478 it shall dwell 7931 z8804 all x3605 foule 6833 of euery x3605 wing: 3671 in the shadow 6738 of the branches 1808 thereof shal they dwell. 7931 z8799

 17:24 And all x3605 the trees 6086 of the field 7704 shall know 3045 z8804 that x3588 I x589 the LORD 3068 haue brought downe 8213 z8689 the high 1364 tree, 6086 haue exalted 1361 z8689 the low 8217 tree, 6086 haue dried y3001 z8689 vp x3001 the greene 3892 tree, 6086 and haue made the drie 3002 tree 6086 to flourish: 6524 z8689 I x589 the LORD 3068 haue spoken, 1696 z8765 and haue done 6213 z8804 [it].
