Prouerbs 17

1 From this chapter to the five and twentieth are sundry observations of moral virtues, and their contrary vices.

 17:1 ¶ Better 2896 [is] a drie 2720 morsell, 6595 and quietnesse 7962 therewith; then an house 1004 x4480 full 4392 of sacrifices 2077 [with] strife. 7379

 17:2 A wise 7919 z8688 seruant 5650 shall haue rule 4910 z8799 ouer a son 1121 that causeth shame: 954 z8688 and shall haue part 2505 z8799 of the inheritance 5159 among 8432 the brethren. 251

 17:3 The fining pot 4715 [is] for siluer, 3701 and the furnace 3564 for gold: 2091 but the LORD 3068 trieth 974 z8802 the hearts. 3826

 17:4 A wicked doer 7489 z8688 giueth heed 7181 z8688 to x5921 false 205 lips: 8193 [and] a liar 8267 giueth eare 238 z8688 to x5921 a naughtie 1942 tongue. 3956

 17:5 Whoso mocketh 3932 z8802 the poore, 7326 z8802 reproacheth 2778 z8765 his maker: 6213 z8802 [and] he that is glad 8056 at calamities, 343 shall not x3808 be vnpunished. 5352 z8735

 17:6 Childrens 1121 children 1121 [are] the crowne 5850 of old men: 2205 and the glory 8597 of children 1121 [are] their fathers. 1

 17:7 Excellent 3499 speech 8193 becommeth 5000 not x3808 a foole: 5036 much lesse x637 x3588 doe lying 8267 lippes 8193 a prince. 5081

 17:9 He that couereth 3680 z8764 a transgression, 6588 seeketh 1245 z8764 loue; 160 but he that repeateth 8138 z8802 a matter, 1697 separateth 6504 z8688 [very] friends. 441

 17:11 An euill 7451 man seeketh 1245 z8762 onely x389 rebellion; 4805 therefore a cruell 394 messenger 4397 shall be sent 7971 z8792 against him.

 17:15 He that iustifieth 6663 z8688 the wicked, 7563 and he that condemneth 7561 z8688 the iust: 6662 euen x1571 they [both] 8147 are abomination 8441 to the LORD. 3068

 17:16 Wherfore x4100 x2088 [is there] a price 4242 in the hand 3027 of a foole 3684 to get 7069 z8800 wisedome, 2451 seeing [he hath] no x369 heart 3820 [to it]?

 17:17 A friend 7453 loueth 157 z8802 at all x3605 times, 6256 and a brother 251 is borne 3205 z8735 for aduersitie. 6869

 17:18 A man 120 void 2638 of vnderstanding 3820 striketh 8628 z8802 hands, 3709 [and] becommeth 6148 z8802 suretie 6161 in the presence 6440 of his friend. 7453

 17:19 He loueth 157 z8802 transgression, 6588 that loueth 157 z8802 strife: 4683 [and] he that exalteth 1361 z8688 his gate, 6607 seeketh 1245 z8764 destruction. 7667

 17:20 He that hath a froward 6141 heart, 3820 findeth 4672 z8799 no x3808 good, 2896 and he that hath a peruerse 2015 z8738 tongue, 3956 falleth 5307 z8799 into mischiefe. 7451

 17:21 He that begetteth 3205 z8802 a foole, 3684 [doth it] to his sorrow: 8424 and the father 1 of a foole 5036 hath no x3808 ioy. 8055 z8799

 17:22 A merrie 8056 heart 3820 doth good 3190 z8686 [like] a medicine: 1456 but a broken 5218 spirit 7307 drieth 3001 z8762 the bones. 1634

 17:23 A wicked 7563 man taketh 3947 z8799 a gift 7810 out of the bosome, 2436 x4480 to peruert 5186 z8687 the wayes 734 of iudgement. 4941

 17:24 Wisedome 2451 [is] before x854 x6440 him that hath vnderstanding: 995 y6440 z8688 but the eyes 5869 of a foole 3684 [are] in the ends 7097 of the earth. 776

 17:25 A foolish 3684 sonne 1121 [is] a griefe 3708 to his father, 1 & bitternes 4470 to her that bare 3205 z8802 him.
