Genesis 38

1 Judah begetteth Er, Onan, and Shelah. 6 Er marrieth Tamar. 8 The trespass of Onan. 11 Tamar stayeth for Shelah. 13 She deceiveth Judah. 27 She beareth twins, Pharez and Zarah.

 38:1 ¶ And it came to passe x1961 at that x1931 time, 6256 that Iudah 3063 went downe 3381 z8799 from x4480 x854 his brethren, 251 and turned y5186 z8799 in x5186 to x5704 a certaine 376 Adullamite, 5726 whose name 8034 [was] Hirah: 2437

 38:2 And Iudah 3063 saw 7200 z8799 there x8033 a daughter 1323 of a certaine 376 Canaanite, 3669 whose name 8034 was Shuah: 7770 and he tooke x3947 her, y3947 z8799 and went in 935 z8799 vnto x413 her.

 38:3 And she conceiued 2029 z8799 & bare 3205 z8799 a sonne, 1121 and he called 7121 z8799 x853 his name 8034 Er. 6147

 38:4 And shee conceiued 2029 z8799 againe, x5750 and bare 3205 z8799 a sonne, 1121 and shee called 7121 z8799 x853 his name, 8034 Onan. 209

 38:5 And she yet againe x5750 conceiued 3254 z8686 and bare 3205 z8799 a sonne, 1121 and called 7121 z8799 x853 his name 8034 Shelah: 7956 and hee was x1961 at Chezib, 3580 when shee bare 3205 z8800 him.

 38:6 And Iudah 3063 tooke 3947 z8799 a wife 802 for Er 6147 his first borne, 1060 whose name 8034 [was] Tamar. 8559

 38:7 And Er, 6147 Iudahs 3063 first borne 1060 was x1961 wicked 7451 in the sight 5869 of the LORD, 3068 and the LORD 3068 slew 4191 z8686 him.

 38:8 And Iudah 3063 said 559 z8799 vnto Onan, 209 Goe in 935 z8798 vnto x413 thy brothers 251 wife, 802 and marrie 2992 z8761 her, and raise vp 6965 z8685 seed 2233 to thy brother. 251

 38:9 And Onan 209 knew 3045 z8799 that x3588 the seed 2233 should not x3808 be x1961 his; and it came to passe x1961 when 518 hee went in 935 z8802 vnto x413 his brothers 251 wife, 802 that hee spilled 7843 z8765 it on the ground, 776 least 1115 that hee should giue 5414 z8800 seed 2233 to his brother. 251

 38:10 And the thing which 834 he did, 6213 z8804 displeased 5869 y3415 z8799 x7489 the LORD: 3068 wherefore hee slew 4191 z8686 him also. x1571

 38:11 Then said 559 z8799 Iudah 3063 to Tamar 8559 his daughter in law, 3618 Remaine 3427 z8798 a widow 490 at thy fathers 1 house, 1004 til x5704 Shelah 7956 my sonne 1121 be growen: 1431 z8799 (for x3588 he said, 559 z8804 Lest peraduenture x6435 he x1931 die 4191 z8799 also x1571 as his brethren 251 [did]) and Tamar 8559 went y3212 z8799 x1980 and dwelt 3427 z8799 in her fathers 1 house. 1004

 38:12 ¶ And in processe y7235 z8799 of time, 3117 x7235 the daughter 1323 of Shuah 7770 Iudahs 3063 wife 802 died: 4191 z8799 and Iudah 3063 was comforted, 5162 z8735 and went vp 5927 z8799 vnto x5921 his sheepe-shearers 1494 6629 z8802 to Timnath, 8553 he x1931 and his friend 7453 Hirah 2437 the Adullamite. 5726

 38:13 And it was told 5046 z8714 Lamar, 8559 saying, 559 z8800 Behold, x2009 thy father in law 2524 goeth vp 5927 z8802 to Timnath 8553 to sheare 1494 z8800 his sheepe. 6629

 38:16 And hee turned 5186 z8799 vnto x413 her by x413 the way, 1870 and said, 559 z8799 Goe to, 3051 z8798 I pray thee, x4994 let me come in 935 z8799 vnto x413 thee: (for x3588 he knew 3045 z8804 not x3808 that x3588 she x1931 [was] his daughter in law) 3618 and she said, 559 z8799 what x4100 wilt thou giue 5414 z8799 mee, that x3588 thou mayest come in 935 z8799 vnto x413 me?

 38:17 And hee said, 559 z8799 I x595 will send 7971 z8762 thee a kid 5795 1423 from x4480 the flocke: 6629 and shee saide, 559 z8799 Wilt thou giue 5414 z8799 [mee] a pledge, 6162 till x5704 thou send 7971 z8800 it?

 38:18 And he said, 559 z8799 What y834 x4100 pledge 6162 shall I giue 5414 z8799 thee? And she said, 559 z8799 Thy signet, 2368 and thy bracelets, 6616 and thy staffe, 4294 that x834 is in thine hand: 3027 and he gaue 5414 z8799 it her, & came in 935 z8799 vnto x413 her, and she conceived 2029 z8799 by him.

 38:19 And shee arose 6965 z8799 and went away, y3212 z8799 x1980 and laid by 5493 z8686 her vaile 6809 from x4480 x5921 her, and put on 3847 z8799 the garments 899 of her widowhood. 491

 38:20 And Iudah 3063 sent 7971 z8799 x853 the kidde 1423 5795 by the hand 3027 of his friend 7453 the Adullamite, 5726 to receive 3947 z8800 [his] pledge 6162 from the womans 802 hand: 3027 x4480 but he found x4672 her y4672 z8804 not. x3808

 38:21 Then hee asked 7592 z8799 x853 the men y582 x376 of that place, 4725 saying, 559 z8800 where x346 is the harlot, 6948 that x1931 was openly y5869 x5879 by x5921 the way side? 1870 And they said, 559 z8799 There was x1961 no x3808 harlot 6948 in this 2088 [place].

 38:22 And he returned 7725 z8799 to x413 Iudah, 3063 and said, 559 z8799 I cannot 3808 finde 4672 z8804 her: and also x1571 the men y582 x376 of the place 4725 said, 559 z8804 That there was x1961 no x3808 harlot 6948 in this x2088 [place].

 38:23 And Iudah 3063 said, 559 z8799 Let her take 3947 z8799 it to her, lest x6435 we bee x1961 shamed: 937 behold, x2009 I sent 7971 z8804 this x2088 kidde, 1423 and thou x859 hast not x3808 found 4672 z8804 her.

 38:24 ¶ And it came to passe x1961 about three 7969 x4480 moneths 2320 after, that it was tolde 5046 z8714 Iudah, 3063 saying, 559 z8800 Tamar 8559 thy daughter in law 3618 hath played the harlot, 2181 z8804 and also x1571 behold, x2009 she is with child 2030 by whoredom: 2183 and Iudah 3063 said, 559 z8799 Bring her foorth, 3318 z8685 and let her be burnt. 8313 z8735

 38:25 When she x1931 was brought forth, 3318 z8716 she x1931 sent 7971 z8804 to x413 her father in law, 2524 saying, 559 z8800 By the man 376 whose x834 these x428 are, am I x595 with child: 2030 and shee said, 559 z8799 Discerne, 5234 z8685 I pray thee, x4994 whose x4310 are these, x428 the signet, 2858 and bracelets, 6616 and staffe. 4294

 38:26 And Iudah 3063 acknowledged 5234 z8686 [them], and said, 559 z8799 She hath bin more righteous 6663 z8804 then x4480 I: because x3588 that x5921 x3651 I gaue 5414 z8804 her not x3808 to Shelah 7956 my sonne: 1121 and he knew x3045 her y3045 z8800 againe 3254 z8804 no x3808 more. x5750

 38:27 ¶ And it came to passe x1961 in the time 6256 of her trauaile, 3205 z8800 that beholde, x2009 twinnes 8380 were in her wombe. 990

 38:28 And it came to passe x1961 when shee trauailed, 3205 z8800 that [the one] put out 5414 z8799 his hand, 3027 and the midwife 3205 z8764 tooke 3947 z8799 and bound 7194 z8799 vpon x5921 his hand 3027 a skarlet threed, 8144 saying, 559 z8800 This x2088 came out 3318 z8804 first. 7223

 38:29 And it came to passe x1961 as he drewe backe 7725 z8688 his hand, 3027 that behold, x2009 his brother 251 came out: 3318 z8804 and she said, 559 z8799 how x4100 hast thou broken foorth? 6555 z8804 [this] breach 6556 [bee] vpon x5921 thee: Therefore his name 8034 was called 7121 z8799 Pharez. 6557

 38:30 And afterward 310 came out 3318 z8804 his brother 251 that x834 [had] the skarlet threed 8144 vpon x5921 his hand, 3027 and his name 8034 was called 7121 z8799 Zarah. 2226
