2 Chronicles 34

1 Josiah's good reign. 3 He destroyeth idolatry. 8 He taketh order for the repair of the Temple. 14 Hilkiah having found a book of the Law, Josiah sendeth to Huldah to enquire of the LORD. 23 Huldah prophesieth the destruction of Jerusalem, but respite thereof in Josiah's time. 29 Josiah, causing it to be read in a solemn assembly, reneweth the Covenant with God.

 34:1 ¶ Iosiah 2977 [was] eight 8083 yeeres 8141 old 1121 when hee beganne to reigne, 4427 z8800 and he reigned 4427 z8804 in Ierusalem 3389 one 259 and thirty 7970 yeeres. 8141

 34:2 And he did 6213 z8799 that which [was] right 3477 in the sight 5869 of the LORD, 3068 and walked y3212 z8799 x1980 in the wayes 1870 of Dauid 1732 his father, 1 and declined 5493 z8804 [neither] to the right hand 3225 nor to the left. 8040

 34:3 ¶ For in the eight 8083 yeare 8141 of his reigne, 4427 z8800 while he x1931 was yet x5750 young, 5288 hee beganne 2490 z8689 to seeke 1875 z8800 after the God 430 of Dauid 1732 his father: 1 and in the twelfth 8147 6240 yeere 8141 hee beganne 2490 z8689 to purge 2891 z8763 x853 Iudah 3063 and Ierusalem 3389 from x4480 the high places 1116 and the groues, 842 and the carued images, 6456 and the molten images. 4541

 34:4 And they brake downe 5422 z8762 x853 the altars 4196 of Baalim 1168 in his presence, 6440 and the images 2553 that x834 were on high x4605 aboue x4480 x5921 them, y4605 he cut downe, 1438 z8765 and the groues, 842 and the carued images, 6456 and the molten images 4541 he brake in peeces, 7665 z8765 and made dust 1854 z8689 of [them], and strowed 2236 z8799 [it] vpon 6440 x5921 the graues 6913 of them, that had sacrificed 2076 z8802 vnto them.

 34:5 And hee burnt 8313 z8804 the bones 6106 of the priests 3548 vpon x5921 their altars, 4196 and cleansed 2891 z8762 x853 Iudah 3063 and Ierusalem. 3389

 34:6 And [so did he] in the cities 5892 of Manasseh, 4519 and Ephraim, 669 and Simeon, 8095 euen vnto x5704 Naphtali, 5321 with their mattockes, 2719 round about. 5439

 34:7 And when he had broken downe 5422 z8762 x853 the altars 4196 and the groues, 842 and had beaten 3807 z8765 the grauen images 6456 into pouder, 1854 z8687 and cut downe 1438 z8765 all x3605 the idoles 2553 throughout all x3605 the land 776 of Israel, 3478 hee returned 7725 z8799 to Ierusalem. 3389

 34:8 ¶ Now in the eighteenth 8083 6240 yeere 8141 of his reigne, 4427 z8800 when hee had purged 2891 z8763 the land, 776 and the house; 1004 he sent 7971 z8804 x853 Shaphan 8227 the sonne 1121 of Azaliah, 683 and Maasiah 4641 the gouernour 8269 of the citie, 5892 and Ioah 3098 the sonne 1121 of Ioahaz 3099 the recorder, 2142 z8688 to repaire 2388 z8763 x853 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 his God. 430

 34:9 And when they came 935 z8799 to x413 Hilkiah 2518 the high 1419 priest, 3548 they deliuered 5414 z8799 x853 the money 3701 that was brought y935 z8716 into x935 the house 1004 of God, 430 which x834 the Leuites 3881 that kept 8104 z8802 the doores, 5592 had gathered 622 z8804 of the hand 3027 x4480 of Manasseh, 4519 and Ephraim, 669 and of all x4480 x3605 the remnant 7611 of Israel, 3478 and of all x4480 x3605 Iudah, 3063 and Beniamin, 1144 and they returned 7725 z8799 z8675 y3427 z8802 to Ierusalem. 3389

 34:10 And they put 5414 z8799 [it] in x5921 the hand 3027 of the workemen 6213 4399 z8802 that had the ouersight 6485 z8716 of the house 1004 of the LORD, 3068 and they gaue 5414 z8799 it to the workemen 6213 4399 z8802 that x834 wrought 6213 z8802 in the house 1004 of the LORD, 3068 to repaire 918 z8800 and mend 2388 z8763 the house. 1004

 34:11 Euen to the artificers 2796 and builders 1129 z8802 gaue 5414 z8799 they it, to buy 7069 z8800 hewen 4274 stone, 68 and timber 6086 for couplings, 4226 and to floore 7136 z8763 x853 the houses, 1004 which x834 the kings 4428 of Iudah 3063 had destroyed. 7843 z8689

 34:12 And the men y582 x376 did 6213 z8802 the worke 4399 faithfully, 530 and the ouerseers 5329 z8763 of x5921 them [were] Iahath, 3189 and Obadiah, 5662 the Leuites, 3881 of x4480 the sonnes 1121 of Merari, 4847 and Sechariah, 2148 and Meshullam, 4918 of x4480 the sonnes x1121 of the Kohathites, 6956 to set [it] forward: 6485 z8716 and [other] of the Leuites, 3881 all x3605 that could skill 995 z8688 of instruments 3627 of musicke. 7892

 34:13 Also they [were] ouer x5921 the bearers of burdens, 5449 and [were] ouerseers 5329 z8764 of all x3605 that wrought 6213 z8802 the worke 4399 in any manner of seruice: 5656 and of x4480 the Leuites 3881 [there were] Scribes, 5608 z8802 and officers, 7860 z8802 and porters. 7778

 34:14 ¶ And when they brought out 3318 z8687 x853 the money 3701 that was brought into 935 z8716 the house 1004 of the LORD, 3068 Hilkiah 2518 the priest 3548 found 4672 z8804 x853 a booke 5612 of the lawe 8451 of the LORD, 3068 [giuen] by 3027 Moses. 4872

 34:15 And Hilkiah 2518 answered 6030 z8799 and saide 559 z8799 to x413 Shaphan 8227 the scribe: 5608 z8802 I haue found 4672 z8804 the booke 5612 of the law 8451 in the house 1004 of the LORD. 3068 And Hilkiah 2518 deliuered 5414 z8799 x853 the booke 5612 to x413 Shaphan: 8227

 34:16 And Shaphan 8227 caried 935 z8686 x853 the booke 5612 to x413 the king, 4428 and brought 7725 z0 x853 the king 4428 word 1697 backe y7725 z8686 againe, x5750 saying, 559 z8800 All x3605 that x834 was committed 5414 z8738 to y3027 thy seruants, 5650 x3027 they x1992 doe 6213 z8802 [it].

 34:17 And they haue gathered together 5413 z8686 x853 the money 3701 that was found 4672 z8737 in the house 1004 of the LORD, 3068 and haue deliuered 5414 z8799 it into x5921 the hand 3027 of the ouerseers, 6485 z8716 and to x5921 the hand 3027 of the workemen. 6213 4399 z8802

 34:18 Then Shaphan 8227 the scribe 5608 z8802 tolde 5046 z8686 the king, 4428 saying, 559 z8800 Hilkiah 2518 the priest 3548 hath giuen 5414 z8804 me a booke. 5612 And Shaphan 8227 read 7121 z8799 it before 6440 the king. 4428

 34:19 And it came to passe x1961 when the king 4428 had heard 8085 z8800 x853 the words 1697 of the lawe, 8451 that he rent 7167 z8799 x853 his clothes. 899

 34:20 And the king 4428 commanded 6680 z8762 x853 Hilkiah, 2518 and Ahikam 296 the sonne 1121 of Shaphan, 8227 and Abdon 5658 the sonne 1121 of Mirah, 4318 and Shaphan 8227 the scribe, 5608 z8802 and Asaiah 6222 a seruant 5650 of the kings, 4428 saying, 559 z8800

 34:21 Goe, y3212 z8798 x1980 enquire y1875 z8798 of x1875 x853 the LORD 3068 for x1157 me, and for x1157 them that are left 7604 z8737 in Israel 3478 and in Iudah, 3063 concerning x5921 the wordes 1697 of the booke 5612 that x834 is found: 4672 z8738 for x3588 great 1419 is the wrath 2534 of the LORD 3068 that x834 is powred out 5413 z8738 vpon vs, because x5921 x834 our fathers 1 haue not x3808 kept 8104 z8804 x853 the word 1697 of the LORD, 3068 to doe 6213 z8800 after all x3605 that is written 3789 z8803 in x5921 this x2088 booke. 5612

 34:22 And Hilkiah 2518 and they that x834 the king 4428 had [appointed] went y3212 z8799 x1980 to x413 Huldah 2468 the prophetesse, 5031 the wife 802 of Shallum 7967 the sonne 1121 of Tikuath, 8616 z8676 y8445 the sonne 1121 of Hasrah, 2641 keeper 8104 z8802 of the wardrobe 899 (now she x1931 dwelt 3427 z8802 in Ierusalem 3389 in the colledge,) 4932 and they spake 1696 z8762 to x413 her to that x2063 [effect].

 34:23 ¶ And she answered 559 z8799 them, Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel: 3478 Tell 559 z8798 ye the man 376 that x834 sent 7971 z8804 you to x413 me,

 34:24 Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the LORD, 3068 behold, x2009 I will bring 935 z8688 euill 7451 vpon x5921 this x2088 place, 4725 and vpon x5921 the inhabitants 3427 z8802 thereof, [euen] x853 all x3605 the curses 423 that are written 3789 z8803 in x5921 the booke 5612 which x834 they haue read 7121 z8804 before 6440 the king 4428 of Iudah: 3063

 34:25 Because x8478 x834 they haue forsaken 5800 z8804 mee, and haue burned incense 6999 z8762 z8675 z8686 vnto other 312 gods, 430 that x4616 they might prouoke mee to anger 3707 z8687 with all x3605 the workes 4639 of their hands, 3027 therefore my wrath 2534 shall bee powred out 5413 z8799 vpon this x2088 place, 4725 and shall not x3808 be quenched. 3518 z8799

 34:26 And as for 413 the king 4428 of Iudah, 3063 who sent 7971 z8802 you to enquire 1875 z8800 of the LORD, 3068 so x3541 shal ye say 559 z8799 vnto x413 him: Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel, 3478 [concerning] the words 1697 which x834 thou hast heard: 8085 z8804

 34:27 Because x3282 thine heart 3824 was tender, 7401 z8804 and thou didst humble y3665 z8735 thy selfe x3665 before 6440 x4480 God, 430 when thou heardest 8085 z8800 x853 his words 1697 against x5921 this x2088 place, 4725 and against x5921 the inhabitants 3427 z8802 thereof, and humbledst y3665 z8735 thy selfe x3665 before 6440 me, and diddest rend 7167 z8799 x853 thy clothes, 899 and weepe 1058 z8799 before 6440 me, I x589 haue euen heard 8085 z8804 thee also, x1571 saith 5002 z8803 the LORD. 3068

 34:28 Behold, x2009 I will gather 622 z8802 thee to x413 thy fathers, 1 and thou shalt bee gathered 622 z8738 to x413 thy graue 6913 in peace, 7965 neither x3808 shall thine eyes 5869 see 7200 z8799 all x3605 the euill 7451 that x834 I x589 will bring 935 z8688 vpon x5921 this x2088 place, 4725 and vpon x5921 the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of the same. So they brought 7725 z0 x853 the king 4428 word 1697 againe. y7725 z8686

 34:29 ¶ Then the king 4428 sent, 7971 z8799 and gathered together 622 z8799 x853 all x3605 the Elders 2205 of Iudah 3063 and Ierusalem. 3389

 34:30 And the king 4428 went vp 5927 z8799 into the house 1004 of the LORD, 3068 and all x3605 the men 376 of Iudah, 3063 and the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of Ierusalem, 3389 and the priests 3548 and the Leuites, 3881 and all x3605 the people 5971 great 1419 x4480 and small: 6996 and he read 7121 z8799 in their eares 241 x853 all x3605 the words 1697 of the booke 5612 of the couenant, 1285 that was found 4672 z8737 in the house 1004 of the LORD. 3068

 34:31 And the King 4428 stood 5975 z8799 in x5921 his place, 5977 & made 3772 z8799 x853 a Couenant 1285 before 6440 the LORD, 3068 to walke y3212 z8800 x1980 after 310 the LORD, 3068 and to keep 8104 z8800 x853 his Commandements, 4687 and his Testimonies, 5715 and his Statutes, 2706 with all x3605 his heart, 3824 & with all x3605 his soule, 5315 to performe 6213 z8800 x853 the words 1697 of the Couenant 1285 which are written 3789 z8803 in x5921 this x2088 booke. 5612

 34:32 And he caused x853 all x3605 that were present 4672 z8737 in Ierusalem 3389 and Beniamin, 1144 to stand 5975 z8686 [to it]. And the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of Ierusalem 3389 did 6213 z8799 according to the couenant 1285 of God, 430 the God 430 of their fathers. 1

 34:33 And Iosiah 2977 tooke away 5493 z8686 x853 all x3605 the abominations 8441 out of x4480 all x3605 the countreys 776 that x834 [perteined] to the children 1121 of Israel, 3478 and made x853 all x3605 that were present 4672 z8737 in Israel 3478 to serue, 5647 z8686 [euen] to serue 5647 z8800 x853 the LORD 3068 their God. 430 [And] all x3605 his dayes 3117 they departed 5493 z8804 not x3808 from folowing 310 x4480 the LORD 3068 the God 430 of their fathers. 1
