2 Chronicles 14

1 Asa succeeding destroyeth idolatry. 6 Having peace, he strengtheneth his kingdom with forts and armies. 9 Calling on God, he overthroweth Zerah, and spoileth the Ethiopians.

 14:1 ¶ So Abiiah 29 slept 7901 z8799 with x5973 his fathers, 1 and they buried 6912 z8799 him in the citie 5892 of Dauid, 1732 and Asa 609 his sonne 1121 reigned 4427 z8799 in his stead: x8478 in his dayes 3117 the land 776 was quiet 8252 z8804 ten 6235 yeeres. 8141

 14:2 And Asa 609 did 6213 z8799 that [which was] good 2896 and right 3477 in the eyes 5869 of the LORD 3068 his God. 430

 14:3 For hee tooke away 5493 z8686 x853 the altars 4196 of the strange 5236 gods, and the high places, 1116 and brake downe 7665 z8762 x853 the images, 4676 and cut downe 1438 z8762 x853 the groues: 842

 14:4 And commanded 559 z8799 Iudah 3063 to seeke 1875 z8800 x853 the LORD 3068 God 430 of their fathers, 1 and to do 6213 z8800 the Law, 8451 and the Commandement. 4687

 14:5 Also he tooke away 5493 z8686 out of all x4480 x3605 the cities 5892 of Iudah, 3063 x853 the high places 1116 and the images: 2553 and the kingdome 4467 was quiet 8252 z8799 before 6440 him.

 14:6 ¶ And hee built 1129 z8799 fenced 4694 cities 5892 in Iudah; 3063 for x3588 the land 776 had rest, 8252 z8804 and hee had no x369 warre 4421 in those x428 yeeres; 8141 because x3588 the LORD 3068 had giuen him rest. 5117 z8689

 14:7 Therefore hee said 559 z8799 vnto Iudah, 3063 Let vs build 1129 z8799 x853 these x428 cities, 5892 & make about 5437 z8686 them walles, 2346 and towers, 4026 gates 1817 and barres, 1280 while the land 776 [is] yet x5750 before 6440 vs: because x3588 wee haue sought 1875 z8804 x853 the LORD 3068 our God, 430 wee haue sought 1875 z8804 [him], and hee hath giuen vs rest 5117 z8799 on euery side: 5439 x4480 so they built, 1129 z8799 and prospered. 6743 z8686

 14:8 And Asa 609 had x1961 an armie 2428 [of men] that bare 5375 z8802 targets 6793 and speares, 7420 out of x4480 Iudah 3063 three 7969 hundred 3967 thousand, 505 and out of Beniamin, 1144 x4480 that bare 5375 z8802 shields 4043 and drew 1869 z8802 bowes, 7198 two hundred 3967 and fourescore 8084 thousand: 505 all x3605 these x428 [were] mighty men 1368 of valour. 2428

 14:9 ¶ And there came out 3318 z8799 against x413 them Zerah 2226 the Ethiopian, 3569 with an host 2428 of a thousand 505 thousand, 505 and three 7969 hundred 3967 charets, 4818 and came 935 z8799 vnto x5704 Mareshah. 4762

 14:10 Then Asa 609 went out 3318 z8799 against 6440 him, and they set the battel y4421 in aray 6186 z8799 x4421 in the valley 1516 of Zephathah 6859 at Mareshah. 4762

 14:11 And Asa 609 cried 7121 z8799 vnto x413 the LORD 3068 his God, 430 and said, 559 z8799 LORD, 3068 it [is] nothing x369 with x5973 thee to helpe, 5826 z8800 whether 996 with many, 7227 or with them that haue no x369 power. 3581 Helpe 5826 z8798 vs, O LORD 3068 our God, 430 for x3588 we rest 8172 z8738 on x5921 thee, and in thy Name 8034 wee goe 935 z8804 against x5921 this x2088 multitude: 1995 O LORD 3068 thou x859 art our God, 430 let not x408 man 582 preuaile 6113 z8799 against x5973 thee.

 14:12 So the LORD 3068 smote 5062 z8799 x853 the Ethiopians 3569 before 6440 Asa, 609 and before 6440 Iudah, 3063 and the Ethiopians 3569 fled. 5127 z8799

 14:13 And Asa 609 and the people 5971 that x834 [were] with x5973 him, pursued 7291 z8799 them vnto x5704 Gerar: 1642 and the Ethiopians 3569 x4480 were ouerthrown, 5307 z8799 that they could not x369 recouer 4241 themselues, for x3588 they were destroyed 7665 z8738 before 6440 the LORD, 3068 and before 6440 his hoste, 4264 and they caried away 5375 z8799 very 3966 much 7235 z8687 spoile. 7998

 14:14 And they smote 5221 z8686 x853 all x3605 the cities 5892 round about 5439 Gerar, 1642 for x3588 the feare 6343 of the LORD 3068 came x1961 vpon x5921 them: and they spoiled 962 z8799 x853 all x3605 the cities, 5892 for x3588 there was x1961 exceeding much 7227 spoile 961 in them.

 14:15 They smote 5221 z8689 also x1571 the tents 168 of cattell, 4735 and caried away 7617 z8799 sheepe 6629 and camels 1581 inabundance, 7230 and returned 7725 z8799 to Ierusalem. 3389
