1 Samuel 24

1 David in a cave at En-gedi, having cut off Saul's skirt, spareth his life. 8 He sheweth thereby his innocency. 16 Saul, acknowledging his fault, taketh an oath of David, and departeth.

 24:1 ¶ And it came to passe x1961 when x834 Saul 7586 was returned 7725 z8804 from folowing 310 x4480 the Philistines, 6430 that it was told 5046 z8686 him, saying, 559 z8800 Behold, x2009 Dauid 1732 is in the wildernesse 4057 of En-gedi. 5872

 24:2 Then Saul 7586 tooke 3947 z8799 three 7969 thousand 505 chosen 977 z8803 men 376 out of all x4480 x3605 Israel, 3478 and went y3212 z8799 x1980 to secke 1245 z8763 x853 Dauid 1732 and his men y582 x376 vpon 6440 x592 the rockes 6697 of the wilde goates. 3277

 24:3 And hee came 935 z8799 to x413 the sheepe coates 1448 6629 by x5921 the way, 1870 where x8033 [was] a caue, 4631 and Saul 7586 went in 935 z8799 to couer 5526 z8687 x853 his feete: 7272 and Dauid 1732 and his men y582 x376 remained 3427 z8802 in the sides 3411 of the caue. 4631

 24:4 And the men y582 x376 of Dauid 1732 sayd 559 z8799 vnto x413 him, Beholde x2009 the day 3117 of which x834 the LORD 3068 sayd 559 z8804 vnto x413 thee, Behold, x2009 I x595 wil deliuer 5414 z8802 x853 thine enemy 341 z8802 into thine hand, 3027 that thou mayest doe 6213 z8804 to him as x834 it shall seeme good 3190 z8799 x5869 vnto thee. y5869 Then Dauid 1732 arose, 6965 z8799 and cut off 3772 z8799 x853 the skirt 3671 of Sauls 7586 robe 4598 priuily. 3909

 24:5 And it came to passe x1961 afterward, 310 x3651 that Dauids 1732 heart 3820 smote 5221 z8686 him, because x5921 x834 he had cut off 3772 z8804 x853 Sauls 7586 skirt. 3671

 24:6 And hee sayd 559 z8799 vnto his men, y582 x376 The LORD 3068 x4480 forbid 2486 that x518 I should doe 6213 z8799 x853 this x2088 thing 1697 vnto my master 113 the LORDS 3068 Anoynted, 4899 to stretch forth 7971 z8800 mine hand 3027 against him, seeing x3588 he x1931 [is] the Anoynted 4899 of the LORD. 3068

 24:7 So Dauid 1732 stayed 8156 z8762 x853 his seruants y582 x376 with these wordes, 1697 and suffered 5414 z8804 them not x3808 to rise 6965 z8800 against x413 Saul: 7586 but Saul 7586 rose vp 6965 z8804 out of the caue, 4631 x4480 and went y3212 z8799 x1980 on [his] way. 1870

 24:8 Dauid 1732 also rose 6965 z8799 afterward, x310 x3651 and went out 3318 z8799 of x4480 the caue, 4631 and cryed 7121 z8799 after 310 Saul, 7586 saying, 559 z8800 My lord 113 the king. 4428 And when Saul 7586 looked 5027 z8686 behinde 310 him, Dauid 1732 stouped 6915 z8799 with his face 639 to the earth, 776 and bowed y7812 z8691 himselfe. x7812

 24:9 ¶ And Dauid 1732 said 559 z8799 to Saul, 7586 Wherfore x4100 hearest 8085 z8799 thou x853 mens 120 words, 1697 saying, 559 z8800 Behold, x2009 Dauid 1732 seeketh 1245 z8764 thy hurt? 7451

 24:10 Behold, x2009 this x2088 day 3117 thine eyes 5869 haue seene, 7200 z8804 x853 how x834 that the LORD 3068 had deliuered 5414 z8804 thee to day 3117 into mine hand 3027 in the caue: 4631 and some bade 559 z8804 [me] kill 2026 z8800 thee, but [mine eye] spared 2347 z8799 x5921 thee, and I said, 559 z8799 I will not x3808 put foorth 7971 z8799 mine hand 3027 against my lord, 113 for x3588 hee x1931 [is] the LORDS 3068 Anointed. 4899

 24:11 Moreouer my father, 1 See, 7200 z8798 yea x1571 see 7200 z8798 x853 the skirt 3671 of thy robe 4598 in my hand: 3027 for x3588 in that I cut off 3772 z8800 x853 the skirt 3671 of thy robe, 4598 and killed 2026 z8804 thee not, x3808 know 3045 z8798 thou and see, 7200 z8798 that x3588 there is neither x369 euill 7451 nor transgression 6588 in mine hand, 3027 and I haue not x3808 sinned 2398 z8804 against thee; yet thou x859 huntest 6658 z8802 x853 my soule, 5315 to take 3947 z8800 it.

 24:12 The LORD 3068 iudge 8199 z8799 betweene x996 me and thee, and the LORD 3068 auenge 5358 z8804 me of x4480 thee: but mine hand 3027 shall not x3808 be x1961 vpon thee.

 24:13 As x834 saith 559 z8799 the prouerbe 4912 of the ancients, 6931 Wickednesse 7562 proceedeth 3318 z8799 from the wicked: 7563 x4480 but mine hand 3027 shall not x3808 be x1961 vpon thee.

 24:14 After 310 whom x4310 is the king 4428 of Israel 3478 come out? 3318 z8804 after 310 whom x4310 doest thou x859 pursue? 7291 z8802 After 310 a dead 4191 z8801 dogge, 3611 after 310 a 259 flea. 6550

 24:15 The LORD 3068 therfore be x1961 Iudge, 1781 and iudge 8199 z8804 betweene x996 me and thee, and see, 7200 z8799 and plead 7378 z8799 x853 my cause, 7379 and deliuer 8199 z8799 me out of thine hand. 3027 x4480

 24:16 ¶ And it came to passe x1961 when Dauid 1732 had made an ende 3615 z8763 of speaking 1696 z8763 x853 these x428 words 1697 vnto x413 Saul, 7586 that Saul 7586 said, 559 z8799 Is this x2088 thy voice, 6963 my sonne 1121 Dauid? 1732 And Saul 7586 lift vp 5375 z8799 his voice, 6963 and wept. 1058 z8799

 24:17 And he said 559 z8799 to x413 Dauid, 1732 Thou x859 art more righteous 6662 then x4480 I: for x3588 thou x859 hast rewarded 1580 z8804 mee good, 2896 whereas I x589 haue rewarded 1580 z8804 thee euill. 7451

 24:18 And thou x859 hast shewed 5046 z8689 this day 3117 x853 how that x834 thou hast dealt 6213 z8804 well 2896 with x854 me: x853 forasmuch as when x834 the LORD 3068 had deliuered 5462 z8765 me into thine hand, 3027 thou killedst 2026 z8804 me not. x3808

 24:19 For if x3588 a man 376 finde 4672 z8799 x853 his enemie, 341 z8802 will hee let him goe 7971 z8765 well 2896 away? 1870 wherefore the LORD 3068 reward 7999 z8762 thee good, 2896 for x8478 that x834 thou hast done 6213 z8804 vnto me this x2088 day. 3117

 24:20 And now x6258 behold, x2009 I know well 3045 z8804 that x3588 thou shalt surely y4427 z8800 be King, 4427 z8799 and that the kingdome 4467 of Israel 3478 shall be established 6965 z8804 in thine hand. 3027

 24:21 Sweare 7650 z8734 now x6258 therefore vnto me by the LORD, 3068 that x518 thou wilt not y518 cut off 3772 z8686 x853 my seede 2233 after 310 mee, and that x518 thou wilt not destroy 8045 z8686 x853 my name 8034 out of my fathers y1 house. 1004 x4480 x1

 24:22 And Dauid 1732 sware 7650 z8735 vnto Saul, 7586 and Saul 7586 went y3212 z8799 x1980 x413 home: 1004 but Dauid 1732 and his men y582 x376 gate them vp 5927 z8804 vnto x5921 the holde. 4686
