1 Samuel 13

1 Saul's selected band. 3 He calleth the Hebrews to Gilgal against the Philistines, whose garrison Jonathan had smitten. 5 The Philistines' great host. 6 The distress of the Israelites. 8 Saul, weary of staying for Samuel, sacrificeth. 11 Samuel reproveth him. 17 The three spoiling bands of the Philistines. 19 The policy of the Philistines, to suffer no smith in Israel.

 13:1 ¶ Saul 7586 reigned 4427 z8800 one x1121 yeere, 8141 y1121 and when he had reigned 4427 z8804 two 8147 yeeres 8141 ouer x5921 Israel, 3478

 13:2 Saul 7586 chose 977 z8799 him three 7969 thousand 505 men of Israel: 3478 x4480 [whereof] two thousand 505 were x1961 with x5973 Saul 7586 in Michmash, 4363 and in mount 2022 Bethel, 1008 and a thousand 505 were x1961 with x5973 Ionathan y3129 x3083 in Gibeah 1390 of Beniamin: 1144 and the rest 3499 of the people 5971 he sent 7971 z8765 euery man 376 to his tent. 168

 13:3 And Ionathan y3129 x3083 smote 5221 z8686 x853 the garison 5333 of the Philistines 6430 that x834 [was] in Geba, 1387 and the Philistines 6430 heard 8085 z8799 [of it]: and Saul 7586 blew 8628 z8804 the trumpet 7782 thorowout all x3605 the land, 776 saying, 559 z8800 Let the Hebrewes 5680 heare. 8085 z8799

 13:4 And all x3605 Israel 3478 heard 8085 z8804 say, 559 z8800 that Saul 7586 had smitten 5221 z8689 x853 a garison 5333 of the Philistines, 6430 and that Israel 3478 also x1571 was had in abomination 887 z8738 with the Philistines: 6430 and the people 5971 were called together 6817 z8735 after 310 Saul 7586 to Gilgal. 1537

 13:5 ¶ And the Philistines 6430 gathered themselues together, 622 z8738 to fight 3898 z8736 with x5973 Israel, 3478 thirtie 7970 thousand 505 charets, 7393 and sixe 8337 thousand 505 horsemen, 6571 and people 5971 as the sand 2344 which x834 is on x5921 the sea 3220 shore 8193 in multitude, 7230 and they came vp, 5927 z8799 and pitched 2583 z8799 in Michmash, 4363 Eastward 6926 from Bethauen. 1007

 13:9 And Saul 7586 said, 559 z8799 Bring hither 5066 z8685 a burnt offring 5930 to x413 me, and peace offrings. 8002 And he offered 5927 z8686 the burnt offering. 5930

 13:10 And it came to passe x1961 that assoone as he had made an end 3615 z8763 of offering 5927 z8687 the burnt offering, 5930 behold, x2009 Samuel 8050 came, 935 z8802 and Saul 7586 went out 3318 z8799 to meete 7125 z8800 him, that he might salute 1288 z8800 him.

 13:11 ¶ And Samuel 8050 said, 559 z8799 What x4100 hast thou done? 6213 z8804 And Saul 7586 said, 559 z8799 Because x3588 I sawe 7200 z8804 that x3588 the people 5971 were scattered 5310 z8804 from x4480 x5921 me, and that thou x859 camest 935 z8804 not x3808 within the dayes 3117 appointed, 4150 and that the Philistines 6430 gathered themselues together 622 z8737 to Michmash: 4363

 13:12 Therfore said 559 z8799 I, The Philistines 6430 will come downe 3381 z8799 now x6258 vpon x413 me to Gilgal, 1537 and I haue not x3808 made supplication 2470 z8765 vnto 6440 the LORD: 3068 I forced y662 z8691 my selfe x662 therefore, and offered 5927 z8686 a burnt offering. 5930

 13:13 And Samuel 8050 said 559 z8799 to x413 Saul, 7586 Thou hast done foolishly: 5528 z8738 thou hast not x3808 kept 8104 z8804 x853 the commandement 4687 of the LORD 3068 thy God, 430 which x834 hee commanded 6680 z8765 thee: for x3588 now x6258 would the LORD 3068 haue established 3559 z8689 x853 thy kingdome 4467 vpon x413 Israel 3478 for y5704 euer. 5769 x5704

 13:14 But now x6258 thy kingdome 4467 shall not x3808 continue: 6965 z8799 the LORD 3068 hath sought 1245 z8765 him a man 376 after his owne heart, 3824 and the LORD 3068 hath commanded 6680 z8762 him to bee captaine 5057 ouer x5921 his people, 5971 because x3588 thou hast not x3808 kept 8104 z8804 that x853 which x834 the LORD 3068 commanded 6680 z8765 thee.

 13:15 And Samuel 8050 arose, 6965 z8799 and gate him vp 5927 z8799 from x4480 Gilgal, 1537 vnto Gibeah 1390 of Beniamin, 1144 and Saul 7586 numbred 6485 z8799 x853 the people 5971 that were present 4672 z8737 with x5973 him, about sixe 8337 hundred 3967 men. 376

 13:16 And Saul 7586 and Ionathan y3129 x3083 his sonne, 1121 and the people 5971 that were present 4672 z8737 with x5973 them, abode 3427 z8802 in Gibeah 1387 of Beniamin: 1144 but the Philistines 6430 encamped 2583 z8804 in Michmash. 4363

 13:17 ¶ And the spoilers 7843 z8688 came out 3318 z8799 of the campe 4264 x4480 of the Philistines, 6430 in three 7969 companies: 7218 one 259 company 7218 turned 6437 z8799 vnto x413 the way 1870 that leadeth to Ophrah, 6084 vnto x413 the land 776 of Shual. 7777

 13:18 And another 259 company 7218 turned 6437 z8799 the way 1870 to Bethoron: 1032 and another 259 companie 7218 turned 6437 z8799 to the way 1870 of the border, 1366 that looketh 8259 z8737 to x5921 the valley 1516 of Zeboim 6650 toward the wildernesse. 4057

 13:19 ¶ Now there was no x3808 smith 2796 found 4672 z8735 thorowout all x3605 the land 776 of Israel: 3478 for x3588 the Philistines 6430 said, 559 z8804 Lest x6435 the Hebrewes 5680 make 6213 z8799 them swords 2719 or x176 speares. 2595

 13:20 But all x3605 the Israelites 3478 went downe 3381 z8799 to the Philistines, 6430 to sharpen 3913 z8800 euery man 376 x853 his share 4282 and his coulter, 855 and his axe, 7134 and his mattocke. 4281

 13:21 Yet they had x1961 a file 6477 6310 for the mattocks, 4281 and for the coulters, 855 and for the forkes, 7969 7053 and for the axes, 7134 and to sharpen 5324 z8687 the goads. 1861

 13:22 So it came to passe x1961 in the day 3117 of battell, 4421 that there was neither x3808 sword 2719 nor speare 2595 found 4672 z8738 in the hand 3027 of any x3605 of the people 5971 that x834 were with x854 Saul 7586 and Ionathan: y3129 x3083 but with Saul 7586 & with Ionathan y3129 x3083 his sonne 1121 was there found. 4672 z8735

 13:23 And the garison 4673 of the Philistines 6430 went out 3318 z8799 to x413 the passage 4569 of Michmash. 4363
