1 Chronicles 21

1 David, tempted by Satan, forceth Joab to number the people. 5 The number of the people being brought, David repenteth of it. 9 David, having three plagues propounded by Gad, chooseth the pestilence. 14 After the death of seventy thousand, David by repentance preventeth the destruction of Jerusalem. David, by Gad's direction, purchaseth Ornan's threshingfloor: where having built an altar, God giveth a sign of his favour by fire, and stayeth the plague. 28 David sacrificeth there, being restrained from Gibeon by fear of the angel.

 21:1 ¶ And Satan 7854 stoode vp 5975 z8799 against x5921 Israel, 3478 and prouoked 5496 z8686 x853 Dauid 1732 to number 4487 z8800 x853 Israel. 3478

 21:2 And Dauid 1732 saide 559 z8799 to x413 Ioab, 3097 and to x413 the rulers 8269 of the people, 5971 Goe, y3212 z8798 x1980 number 5608 z8798 x853 Israel 3478 from Beer-sheba 884 x4480 eueu to x5704 Dan: 1835 and bring 935 z8685 x853 the number 4557 of them to x413 me, that I may know 3045 z8799 [it].

 21:3 And Ioab 3097 answered, 559 z8799 The LORD 3068 make his people 5971 an hundred 3967 times 6471 so many moe 3254 z8686 as they 1992 bee: but, my lord 113 the king, 4428 are they not x3808 al x3605 my lords 113 seruants? 5650 why x4100 then doeth my lord 113 require 1245 z8762 this thing? x2063 why x4100 will hee bee x1961 a cause of trespasse 819 to Israel? 3478

 21:4 Neuerthelesse, the kings 4428 word 1697 preuailed 2388 z8804 against x5921 Ioab: 3097 wherefore Ioab 3097 departed, 3318 z8799 and went 1980 z8691 throughout all x3605 Israel, 3478 and came 935 z8799 to Ierusalem. 3389

 21:5 ¶ And Ioab 3097 gaue 5414 z8799 x853 the summe 4557 of the number 4662 of the people 5971 vnto x413 Dauid: 1732 and all x3605 they of Israel 3478 were x1961 a thousand 505 thousand, 505 and an hundred 3967 thousand 505 men 376 that drew 8025 z8802 sword: 2719 and Iudah 3063 was foure 702 hundred 3967 threescore and ten 7657 thousand 505 men, 376 that drew 8025 z8802 sword. 2719

 21:6 But Leui 3878 and Beniamin 1144 counted 6485 z8804 hee not x3808 among 8432 them: for x3588 the kings 4428 word 1697 was abominable 8581 z8738 to x853 Ioab. 3097

 21:7 And God 430 was displeased 3415 5869 z8799 with x5921 this x2088 thing, 1697 therefore he smote 5221 z8686 x853 Israel. 3478

 21:8 And Dauid 1732 saide 559 z8799 vnto x413 God, 430 I haue sinned 2398 z8804 greatly, 3966 because x834 I haue done 6213 z8804 x853 this x2088 thing: 1697 but uow, x6258 I beseech thee, x4994 doe away 5674 z8685 x853 the iniquitie 5771 of thy seruant, 5650 for x3588 I haue done very y3966 foolishly. 5528 z8738 x3966

 21:9 ¶ And the LORD 3068 spake 1696 z8762 vnto x413 Gad, 1410 Dauids 1732 Seer, 2374 saying, 559 z8800

 21:10 Goe y3212 z8798 x1980 and tell 1696 z8765 x413 Dauid, 1732 saying, 559 z8800 Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the LORD, 3068 I x589 offer 5186 z8802 x5921 thee three 7969 things, choose 977 z8798 thee one 259 of them, y2007 x4480 x1992 that I may doe 6213 z8799 [it] vnto thee.

 21:11 So Gad 1410 came 935 z8799 to x413 Dauid, 1732 and said 559 z8799 vnto him, Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the LORD, 3068 Choose 6901 z8761 thee

 21:12 Either x518 three 7969 yeeres 8141 famine, 7458 or x518 three 7969 moneths 2320 to bee destroyed 5595 z8737 before 6440 x4480 thy foes 6862 (while that the sword 2719 of thine enemies 341 z8802 ouertaketh 5381 z8688 [thee]) or y518 else x518 three 7969 dayes 3117 the sword 2719 of the LORD, 3068 euen the pestilence 1698 in the land, 776 and the Angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 destroying 7843 z8688 throughout all x3605 the coasts 1366 of Israel. 3478 Now x6258 therefore aduise 7200 z8798 thy selfe, what x4100 word 1697 I shall bring againe 7725 z8686 x853 to him that sent 7971 z8802 me.

 21:13 And Dauid 1732 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 Gad, 1410 I am in a great y3966 strait. 6887 z8804 x3966 Let mee fall 5307 z8799 now x4994 into the hand 3027 of the LORD 3068 (for x3588 very 3966 great 7227 [are] his mercies,) 7356 but let me not x408 fall 5307 z8799 into the hand 3027 of man. 120

 21:14 ¶ So the LORD 3068 sent 5414 z8799 pestilence 1698 vpon Israel: 3478 and there fell 5307 z8799 of Israel, 3478 x4480 seuentie 7657 thousand 505 men. 376

 21:15 And God 430 sent 7971 z8799 an Angel 4397 vnto Ierusalem 3389 to destroy 7843 z8687 it: and as he was destroying, 7843 z8687 the LORD 3068 beheld, 7200 z8804 and he repented y5162 z8735 him x5162 of x5921 the euill, 7451 and said 559 z8799 to the Angel 4397 that destroyed, 7843 z8688 It is ynough, 7227 stay 7503 z8685 now x6258 thine hand. 3027 And the Angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 stood 5975 z8802 by x5973 the threshing floore 1637 of Ornan 771 the Iebusite. 2983

 21:16 And Dauid 1732 lift vp 5375 z8799 x853 his eyes, 5869 and saw 7200 z8799 x853 the Angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 stand 5975 z8802 betweene x996 the earth 776 and the heauen, 8064 hauing a drawen 8025 z8803 sword 2719 in his hand 3027 stretched out 5186 z8803 ouer x5921 Ierusalem. 3389 Then Dauid 1732 and the Elders 2205 of Israel, who were clothed 3680 z8794 in sackecloth, 8242 fell 5307 z8799 vpon x5921 their faces. 6440

 21:17 And Dauid 1732 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 God, 430 Is it not x3808 I x589 [that] commanded 559 z8804 the people 5971 to be numbred? 4487 z8800 euen I x589 it x1931 is that x834 haue sinned, 2398 z8804 and done euill y7489 z8689 indeed, 7489 z8687 but as for these x428 sheepe, 6629 what x4100 haue they done? 6213 z8804 Let thine hand, 3027 I pray thee, x4994 O LORD 3068 my God, 430 be x1961 on me, and on my fathers 1 house, 1004 but not x3808 on thy people, 5971 that they should bee plagued. 4046

 21:18 ¶ Then the Angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 commanded 559 z8804 x413 Gad 1410 to say 559 z8800 to Dauid, 1732 that x3588 Dauid 1732 should goe vp 5927 z8799 and set vp 6965 z8687 an Altar 4196 vnto the LORD, 3068 in the threshing floore 1637 of Ornan 771 the Iebusite. 2983

 21:19 And Dauid 1732 went vp 5927 z8799 at the saying 1697 of Gad, 1410 which x834 he spake 1696 z8765 in the Name 8034 of the LORD. 3068

 21:20 And Ornan 771 turned backe 7725 z8799 and saw 7200 z8799 x853 the Angel, 4397 and his foure 702 sonnes 1121 with x5973 him, hid y2244 z8693 themselues. x2244 Now Ornan 771 was threshing 1758 z8804 wheat. 2406

 21:21 And as Dauid 1732 came 935 z8799 to x5704 Ornan, 771 Ornan 771 looked 5027 z8686 and saw 7200 z8799 x853 Dauid, 1732 and went out 3318 z8799 of x4480 the threshing floore, 1637 and bowed y7812 z8691 himselfe x7812 to Dauid 1732 with his face 639 to the ground. 776

 21:22 Then Dauid 1732 saide 559 z8799 to x413 Ornan, 771 Grant 5414 z8798 mee the place 4725 of [this] threshing floore, 1637 that I may build 1129 z8799 an Altar 4196 therein vnto the LORD: 3068 thou shalt grant 5414 z8798 it mee for the full 4392 price, 3701 that the plague 4046 may be stayed 6113 z8735 from x4480 x5921 the people. 5971

 21:23 And Ornan 771 saide 559 z8799 vnto x413 Dauid, 1732 Take 3947 z8798 [it] to thee, and let my lord 113 the king 4428 do 6213 z8799 that which [is] good 2896 in his eyes. 5869 Loe, 7200 z8798 I giue 5414 z8804 [thee] the oxen 1241 [also] for burnt offerings, 5930 and the threshing instruments 4173 for wood, 6086 and the wheat 2406 for the meate offering, 4503 I giue 5414 z8804 it all. x3605

 21:24 And king 4428 Dauid 1732 said 559 z8799 to Ornan; 771 Nay, x3808 but x3588 I wil verily y7069 z8800 buy 7069 z8799 it for the full 4392 price: 3701 for x3588 I will not x3808 take 5375 z8799 that which x834 [is] thine for the LORD, 3068 nor offer 5927 z8687 burnt offerings 5930 without cost. 2600

 21:25 So Dauid 1732 gaue 5414 z8799 to Ornan 771 for the place, 4725 sixe 8337 hundred 3967 shekels 8255 of gold 2091 by weight. 4948

 21:26 And Dauid 1732 built 1129 z8799 there x8033 an Altar 4196 vnto the LORD, 3068 and offered 5927 z8686 burnt offerings, 5930 and peace offerings, 8002 and called 7121 z8799 vpon x413 the LORD, 3068 and hee answered 6030 z8799 him from x4480 heauen 8064 by fire 784 vpon x5921 the Altar 4196 of burnt offering. 5930

 21:27 And the LORD 3068 commaunded 559 z8799 the Angel, 4397 and hee put vp y7725 z0 his sword y2719 againe 7725 z8686 x2719 into x413 the sheath 5084 thereof.

 21:28 ¶ At that x1931 time, 6256 when Dauid 1732 saw 7200 z8800 that x3588 the LORD 3068 had answered 6030 z8804 him in the threshing floore 1637 of Ornan 771 the Iebusite, 2983 then he sacrificed 2076 z8799 there. x8033

 21:29 For the tabernacle 4908 of the LORD 3068 which x834 Moses 4872 made 6213 z8804 in the wildernesse, 4057 and the Altar 4196 of the burnt offering 5930 [were] at that x1931 season, 6256 in the high place 1116 at Gibeon: 1391

 21:30 But Dauid 1732 could 3201 z8804 not x3808 goe y3212 z8800 x1980 before 6440 it to euquire 1875 z8800 of God; 430 for x3588 he was afraid, 1204 z8738 because 6440 x4480 of the sword 2719 of the Angel 4397 of the LORD. 3068
