Psalms 73

1 The prophet, prevailing in a temptation, 2 sheweth the occasion thereof, the prosperity of the wicked: 13 the wound given thereby, diffidence. 15 The victory over it, knowledge of God's purpose, in destroying of the wicked, and sustaining the righteous.

 73:1 ¶ {A Psalm 4210 of Asaph.} 623 Truly x389 God 430 [is] good 2896 to Israel, 3478 [even] to such as are of a clean 1249 heart. 3824

 73:2 But as for me, x589 my feet 7272 were almost 4592 gone; 5186 z8804 z8675 z8803 my steps 838 had well nigh 369 slipped. 8210 z8795

 73:3 For x3588 I was envious 7065 z8765 at the foolish, 1984 z8802 [when] I saw 7200 z8799 the prosperity 7965 of the wicked. 7563

 73:4 For x3588 [there are] no x369 bands 2784 in their death: 4194 but their strength 193 [is] firm. 1277

 73:5 They [are] not x369 in trouble 5999 [as other] men; 582 neither x3808 are they plagued 5060 z8792 like 5973 [other] men. 120

 73:6 Therefore x3651 pride 1346 compasseth them about as a chain; 6059 z8804 violence 2555 covereth 5848 z8799 them [as] a garment. 7897

 73:7 Their eyes 5869 stand out 3318 z8804 with fatness: 2459 x4480 they have more 5674 z8804 than heart 3824 could wish. 4906

 73:8 They are corrupt, 4167 z8686 and speak 1696 z8762 wickedly 7451 [concerning] oppression: 6233 they speak 1696 z8762 loftily. 4791 x4480

 73:10 Therefore x3651 his people 5971 return 7725 z8799 z8675 z8686 hither: 1988 and waters 4325 of a full 4392 [cup] are wrung out 4680 z8735 to them.

 73:11 And they say, 559 z8804 How x349 doth God 410 know? 3045 z8804 and is there 3426 knowledge 1844 in the most High? 5945

 73:12 Behold, x2009 these x428 [are] the ungodly, 7563 who prosper 7961 in the world; 5769 they increase 7685 z8689 [in] riches. 2428

 73:13 Verily x389 I have cleansed 2135 z8765 my heart 3824 [in] vain, 7385 and washed 7364 z8799 my hands 3709 in innocency. 5356

 73:14 For all x3605 the day 3117 long have I been x1961 plagued, 5060 z8803 and chastened 8433 every morning. 1242

 73:15 If x518 I say, 559 z8804 I will speak 5608 z8762 thus; 3644 behold, x2009 I should offend 898 z8804 [against] the generation 1755 of thy children. 1121

 73:16 When I thought 2803 z8762 to know 3045 z8800 this, x2063 it x1931 [was] too painful 5999 for x5869 me; y5869

 73:17 Until x5704 I went 935 z8799 into x413 the sanctuary 4720 of God; 410 [then] understood 995 z8799 I their end. 319

 73:18 Surely x389 thou didst set 7896 z8799 them in slippery places: 2513 thou castedst them down 5307 z8689 into destruction. 4876

 73:19 How x349 are x1961 they [brought] into desolation, 8047 as in a moment! 7281 they are utterly y5486 z8804 consumed 8552 z8804 x5486 with x4480 terrors. 1091

 73:20 As a dream 2472 when [one] awaketh; 6974 z8687 x4480 [so], O Lord, 136 when thou awakest, 5782 thou shalt despise 959 z8799 their image. 6754

 73:21 Thus x3588 my heart 3824 was grieved, 2556 z8691 and I was pricked 8150 z8709 in my reins. 3629

 73:22 So foolish 1198 [was] I, x589 and ignorant: 3045 z8799 x3808 I was x1961 [as] a beast 929 before x5973 thee.

 73:23 Nevertheless I x589 [am] continually 8548 with x5973 thee: thou hast holden 270 z8804 [me] by my right 3225 hand. 3027

 73:24 Thou shalt guide 5148 z8686 me with thy counsel, 6098 and afterward 310 receive 3947 z8799 me [to] glory. 3519

 73:25 Whom x4310 have I in heaven 8064 [but thee]? and [there is] none x3808 upon earth 776 [that] I desire 2654 z8804 beside x5973 thee.

 73:26 My flesh 7607 and my heart 3824 faileth: 3615 z8804 [but] God 430 [is] the strength 6697 of my heart, 3824 and my portion 2506 forever. 5769

 73:27 For, x3588 lo, x2009 they that are far 7369 from thee shall perish: 6 z8799 thou hast destroyed 6789 z8689 all x3605 them that go a whoring 2181 z8802 from x4480 thee.

 73:28 But y589 it x589 [is] good 2896 for me to draw near 7132 to God: 430 I have put 7896 z8804 my trust 4268 in the Lord 136 GOD, 3069 that I may declare 5608 z8763 all x3605 thy works. 4399
