Jeremiah 21

1 Zedekiah sendeth to Jeremiah to enquire the event of Nebuchadrezzar's war. 3 Jeremiah foretelleth a hard siege and miserable captivity. 8 He counselleth the people to fall to the Chaldeans, 11 and upbraideth the king's house.

 21:1 ¶ The word 1697 which x834 came x1961 unto x413 Jeremiah 3414 from x4480 x854 the LORD, 3068 when king 4428 Zedekiah 6667 sent 7971 z8800 unto x413 him x853 Pashur 6583 the son 1121 of Melchiah, 4441 and Zephaniah 6846 the son 1121 of Maaseiah 4641 the priest, 3548 saying, 559 z8800

 21:2 Enquire, 1875 z8798 I pray thee, x4994 of x853 the LORD 3068 for x1157 us; y1157 for x3588 Nebuchadrezzar 5019 king 4428 of Babylon 894 maketh war 3898 z8737 against x5921 us; if so be x194 that the LORD 3068 will deal 6213 z8799 with x854 us according to all x3605 his wondrous works, 6381 z8737 that he may go up 5927 z8799 from x4480 x5921 us.

 21:3 ¶ Then said 559 z8799 Jeremiah 3414 unto x413 them, Thus x3541 shall ye say 559 z8799 to x413 Zedekiah: 6667

 21:4 Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel; 3478 Behold, x2009 I will turn back 5437 z8688 x853 the weapons 3627 of war 4421 that x834 [are] in your hands, 3027 wherewith x834 ye x859 fight 3898 z8737 against x853 the king 4428 of Babylon, 894 and [against] the Chaldeans, 3778 which besiege 6696 z8802 x5921 you without 2351 x4480 the walls, 2346 and I will assemble 622 z8804 them into x413 the midst 8432 of this x2063 city. 5892

 21:5 And I myself x589 will fight 3898 z8738 against x854 you with an outstretched 5186 z8803 hand 3027 and with a strong 2389 arm, 2220 even in anger, 639 and in fury, 2534 and in great 1419 wrath. 7110

 21:6 And I will smite 5221 z8689 x853 the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of this x2063 city, 5892 both man 120 and beast: 929 they shall die 4191 z8799 of a great 1419 pestilence. 1698

 21:7 And afterward, 310 x3651 saith 5002 z8803 the LORD, 3068 I will deliver 5414 z8799 x853 Zedekiah 6667 king 4428 of Judah, 3063 and his servants, 5650 and the people, 5971 and such as are left 7604 z8737 in this x2063 city 5892 from x4480 the pestilence, 1698 from x4480 the sword, 2719 and from x4480 the famine, 7458 into the hand 3027 of Nebuchadrezzar 5019 king 4428 of Babylon, 894 and into the hand 3027 of their enemies, 341 z8802 and into the hand 3027 of those that seek 1245 z8764 their life: 5315 and he shall smite 5221 z8689 them with the edge 6310 of the sword; 2719 he shall not x3808 spare 2347 z8799 x5921 them, neither x3808 have pity, 2550 z8799 nor x3808 have mercy. 7355 z8762

 21:8 ¶ And unto x413 this x2088 people 5971 thou shalt say, 559 z8799 Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the LORD; 3068 Behold, x2009 I set 5414 z8802 before 6440 you x853 the way 1870 of life, 2416 and the way 1870 of death. 4194

 21:9 He that abideth 3427 z8802 in this x2063 city 5892 shall die 4191 z8799 by the sword, 2719 and by the famine, 7458 and by the pestilence: 1698 but he that goeth out, 3318 z8802 and falleth 5307 z8804 to x5921 the Chaldeans 3778 that besiege 6696 z8802 x5921 you, he shall live, 2421 z8804 z8675 z8799 and his life 5315 shall be x1961 unto him for a prey. 7998

 21:10 For x3588 I have set 7760 z8804 my face 6440 against this x2063 city 5892 for evil, 7451 and not x3808 for good, 2896 saith 5002 z8803 the LORD: 3068 it shall be given 5414 z8735 into the hand 3027 of the king 4428 of Babylon, 894 and he shall burn 8313 z8804 it with fire. 784

 21:11 ¶ And touching the house 1004 of the king 4428 of Judah, 3063 [say], Hear 8085 z8798 ye the word 1697 of the LORD; 3068

 21:12 O house 1004 of David, 1732 thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the LORD; 3068 Execute 1777 z8798 judgment 4941 in the morning, 1242 and deliver 5337 z8685 [him that is] spoiled 1497 z8803 out of the hand 3027 x4480 of the oppressor, 6231 z8802 lest x6435 my fury 2534 go out 3318 z8799 like fire, 784 and burn 1197 z8804 that none x369 can quench 3518 z8764 [it], because 6440 x4480 of the evil 7455 of your doings. 4611

 21:13 Behold, x2009 I [am] against x413 thee, O inhabitant 3427 z8802 of the valley, 6010 [and] rock 6697 of the plain, 4334 saith 5002 z8803 the LORD; 3068 which say, 559 z8802 Who x4310 shall come down 5181 z8799 against x5921 us? or who x4310 shall enter 935 z8799 into our habitations? 4585

 21:14 But I will punish 6485 z8804 x5921 you according to the fruit 6529 of your doings, 4611 saith 5002 z8803 the LORD: 3068 and I will kindle 3341 z8689 a fire 784 in the forest 3293 thereof, and it shall devour 398 z8804 all things x3605 round about 5439 it.
