Genesis 42

1 Jacob sendeth his ten sons to buy corn in Egypt. 16 They are imprisoned by Joseph for spies. 18 They are set at liberty, on condition to bring Benjamin. 21 They have remorse for Joseph. 24 Simeon is kept for a pledge. 25 They return with corn, and their money. 29 Their relation to Jacob. 36 Jacob refuseth to send Benjamin.

 42:1 ¶ Now when Jacob 3290 saw 7200 z8799 that x3588 there was 3426 corn 7668 in Egypt, 4714 Jacob 3290 said 559 z8799 unto his sons, 1121 Why x4100 do ye look y7200 z8691 one upon another? x7200

 42:2 And he said, 559 z8799 Behold, x2009 I have heard 8085 z8804 that x3588 there is 3426 corn 7668 in Egypt: 4714 get you down 3381 z8798 thither, x8033 and buy 7666 z8798 for us from thence; x4480 x8033 that we may live, 2421 z8799 and not x3808 die. 4191 z8799

 42:3 ¶ And Joseph's 3130 ten 6235 brethren 251 went down 3381 z8799 to buy 7666 z8800 corn 1250 in Egypt. 4714 x4480

 42:4 But Benjamin, 1144 Joseph's 3130 brother, 251 Jacob 3290 sent 7971 z8804 not x3808 with x854 his brethren; 251 for x3588 he said, 559 z8804 Lest peradventure 6435 mischief 611 befall x7122 him. y7122 z8799

 42:5 And the sons 1121 of Israel 3478 came 935 z8799 to buy 7666 z8800 [corn] among 8432 those that came: 935 z8802 for x3588 the famine 7458 was x1961 in the land 776 of Canaan. 3667

 42:6 And Joseph 3130 [was] the governor 7989 over x5921 the land, 776 [and] he x1931 [it was] that sold 7666 z8688 to all x3605 the people 5971 of the land: 776 and Joseph's 3130 brethren 251 came, 935 z8799 and bowed down y7812 z8691 themselves x7812 before him [with] their faces 639 to the earth. 776

 42:7 And Joseph 3130 saw 7200 z8799 x853 his brethren, 251 and he knew 5234 z8686 them, but made himself strange 5234 z8691 unto x413 them, and spake 1696 z8762 roughly 7186 unto x854 them; and he said 559 z8799 unto x413 them, Whence 370 x4480 come 935 z8804 ye? And they said, 559 z8799 From the land 776 x4480 of Canaan 3667 to buy 7666 z8800 food. 400

 42:8 And Joseph 3130 knew 5234 z8686 x853 his brethren, 251 but they x1992 knew 5234 z8689 not x3808 him.

 42:9 And Joseph 3130 remembered 2142 z8799 x853 the dreams 2472 which x834 he dreamed 2492 z8804 of them, and said 559 z8799 unto x413 them, Ye x859 [are] spies; 7270 z8764 to see 7200 z8800 x853 the nakedness 6172 of the land 776 ye are come. 935 z8804

 42:10 And they said 559 z8799 unto x413 him, Nay, x3808 my lord, 113 but to buy 7666 z8800 food 400 are thy servants 5650 come. 935 z8804

 42:11 We 5168 [are] all x3605 one 259 man's 376 sons; 1121 we x587 [are] true 3651 [men], thy servants 5650 are x1961 no x3808 spies. 7270 z8764

 42:12 And he said 559 z8799 unto x413 them, Nay, x3808 but x3588 to see 7200 z8800 the nakedness 6172 of the land 776 ye are come. 935 z8804

 42:13 And they said, 559 z8799 Thy servants 5650 [are] twelve 8147 6240 brethren, 251 the sons 1121 of one 259 man 376 in the land 776 of Canaan; 3667 and, behold, x2009 the youngest 6996 [is] this day 3117 with x854 our father, 1 and one 259 [is] not. x369

 42:14 And Joseph 3130 said 559 z8799 unto x413 them, That x1931 [is it] that x834 I spake 1696 z8765 unto x413 you, saying, 559 z8800 Ye x859 [are] spies: 7270 z8764

 42:15 Hereby 2063 ye shall be proved: 974 z8735 By the life 2416 of Pharaoh 6547 ye shall not go forth 3318 z8799 hence, x4480 x2088 except x3588 x518 your youngest 6996 brother 251 come 935 z8800 hither. x2008

 42:16 Send 7971 z8798 one 259 of x4480 you, and let him fetch 3947 z8799 x853 your brother, 251 and ye x859 shall be kept in prison, 631 z8734 that your words 1697 may be proved, 974 z8735 whether [there be any] truth 571 in 854 you: or else 3808 x518 by the life 2416 of Pharaoh 6547 surely x3588 ye x859 [are] spies. 7270 z8764

 42:17 And he put them all together 622 z8799 x853 into x413 ward 4929 three 7969 days. 3117

 42:18 And Joseph 3130 said 559 z8799 unto x413 them the third 7992 day, 3117 This x2063 do, 6213 z8798 and live; 2421 z8798 [for] I x589 fear 3373 x853 God: 430

 42:19 If x518 ye x859 [be] true 3651 [men], let one 259 of your brethren 251 be bound 631 z8735 in the house 1004 of your prison: 4929 go y3212 z8798 x1980 ye, x859 carry 935 z8685 corn 7668 for the famine 7459 of your houses: 1004

 42:20 But bring 935 z8686 your youngest 6996 brother 251 unto x413 me; so shall your words 1697 be verified, 539 z8735 and ye shall not x3808 die. 4191 z8799 And they did 6213 z8799 so. x3651

 42:21 ¶ And they said 559 z8799 one 376 to x413 another, 251 We x587 [are] verily 61 guilty 818 concerning x5921 our brother, 251 in that 834 we saw 7200 z8804 the anguish 6869 of his soul, 5315 when he besought 2603 z8692 x413 us, and we would not x3808 hear; 8085 z8804 therefore x5921 x3651 is this x2063 distress 6869 come 935 z8804 upon x413 us.

 42:22 And Reuben 7205 answered 6030 z8799 them, saying, 559 z8800 Spake x559 I y559 z8804 not x3808 unto x413 you, saying, 559 z8800 Do not x408 sin 2398 z8799 against the child; 3206 and ye would not x3808 hear? 8085 z8804 therefore, behold, x2009 also x1571 his blood 1818 is required. 1875 z8738

 42:23 And they x1992 knew 3045 z8804 not x3808 that x3588 Joseph 3130 understood 8085 z8802 [them]; for x3588 he spake unto x996 them by an interpreter. 3887 z8688

 42:24 And he turned himself about 5437 z8735 from x4480 x5921 them, and wept; 1058 z8799 and returned x7725 to x413 them again, y7725 z8799 and communed 1696 z8762 with x413 them, and took 3947 z8799 from x4480 x854 them x853 Simeon, 8095 and bound 631 z8799 him before their eyes. 5869

 42:25 ¶ Then Joseph 3130 commanded 6680 z8762 to fill 4390 z8762 x853 their sacks 3627 with corn, 1250 and to restore 7725 z8687 every man's 376 money 3701 into x413 his sack, 8242 and to give 5414 z8800 them provision 6720 for the way: 1870 and thus 3651 did x6213 he y6213 z8799 unto them.

 42:26 And they laded 5375 z8799 x5921 their asses 2543 with x853 the corn, 7668 and departed y3212 z8799 x1980 thence. x4480 x8033

 42:27 And as one 259 of them opened 6605 z8799 x853 his sack 8242 to give 5414 z8800 his ass 2543 provender 4554 in the inn, 4411 he espied 7200 z8799 x853 his money; 3701 for, behold, x2009 it x1931 [was] in his sack's 572 mouth. 6310

 42:28 And he said 559 z8799 unto x413 his brethren, 251 My money 3701 is restored; 7725 z8717 and, lo, 2009 [it is] even x1571 in my sack: 572 and their heart 3820 failed 3318 z8799 [them], and they were afraid, 2729 z8799 saying 559 z8800 one 376 to x413 another, 251 What x4100 [is] this x2063 [that] God 430 hath done 6213 z8804 unto us?

 42:29 ¶ And they came 935 z8799 unto x413 Jacob 3290 their father 1 unto the land 776 of Canaan, 3667 and told 5046 z8686 him x853 all x3605 that befell 7136 z8802 unto them; saying, 559 z8800

 42:30 The man, 376 [who is] the lord 113 of the land, 776 spake 1696 z8765 roughly 7186 to x854 us, and took 5414 z8799 us for spies 7270 z8764 of x853 the country. 776

 42:31 And we said 559 z8799 unto x413 him, We x587 [are] true 3651 [men]; we are x1961 no x3808 spies: 7270 z8764

 42:32 We x587 [be] twelve 6240 8147 brethren, 251 sons 1121 of our father; 1 one 259 [is] not, x369 and the youngest 6996 [is] this day 3117 with x854 our father 1 in the land 776 of Canaan. 3667

 42:33 And the man, 376 the lord 113 of the country, 776 said 559 z8799 unto x413 us, Hereby x2063 shall I know 3045 z8799 that x3588 ye x859 [are] true 3651 [men]; leave y3240 z8685 x5117 one 259 of your brethren 251 [here] with x854 me, and take 3947 z8798 [food for] the famine 7459 of your households, 1004 and be gone: y3212 z8798 x1980

 42:34 And bring 935 z8685 x853 your youngest 6996 brother 251 unto x413 me: then shall I know 3045 z8799 that x3588 ye x859 [are] no x3808 spies, 7270 z8764 but x3588 [that] ye x859 [are] true 3651 [men: so] will I deliver 5414 z8799 you x853 your brother, 251 and ye shall traffick 5503 z8799 in the land. 776

 42:35 ¶ And it came to pass x1961 as they x1992 emptied 7324 z8688 their sacks, 8242 that, behold, x2009 every man's 376 bundle 6872 of money 3701 [was] in his sack: 8242 and when [both] they x1992 and their father 1 saw 7200 z8799 x853 the bundles 6872 of money, 3701 they were afraid. 3372 z8799

 42:36 And Jacob 3290 their father 1 said 559 z8799 unto x413 them, Me have ye bereaved 7921 z8765 [of my children]: Joseph 3130 [is] not, x369 and Simeon 8095 [is] not, x369 and ye will take 3947 z8799 Benjamin 1144 [away]: all x3605 these things are x1961 against x5921 me.

 42:37 And Reuben 7205 spake 559 z8799 unto x413 his father, 1 saying, 559 z8800 Slay 4191 z8686 x853 my two 8147 sons, 1121 if x518 I bring 935 z8686 him not x3808 to x413 thee: deliver 5414 z8798 him into x5921 my hand, 3027 and I x589 will bring x7725 him to x413 thee again. y7725 z8686

 42:38 And he said, 559 z8799 My son 1121 shall not x3808 go down 3381 z8799 with x5973 you; for x3588 his brother 251 is dead, 4191 z8804 and he x1931 is left 7604 z8738 alone: x905 if mischief 611 befall 7122 z8804 him by the way 1870 in the which x834 ye go, y3212 z8799 x1980 then shall ye bring down 3381 z8689 x853 my gray hairs 7872 with sorrow 3015 to the grave. 7585
