Genesis 23

1 The age and death of Sarah. 3 The purchase of Machpelah, 19 where Sarah was buried.

 23:1 ¶ And Sarah 8283 was x1961 an hundred 3967 y8141 and seven 7651 y8141 and twenty 6242 years 8141 old: 2416 [these were] the years 8141 of the life 2416 of Sarah. 8283

 23:2 And Sarah 8283 died 4191 z8799 in Kirjatharba; 7153 the same x1931 [is] Hebron 2275 in the land 776 of Canaan: 3667 and Abraham 85 came 935 z8799 to mourn 5594 z8800 for Sarah, 8283 and to weep 1058 z8800 for her.

 23:3 ¶ And Abraham 85 stood up 6965 z8799 from before 6440 x4480 x5921 his dead, 4191 z8801 and spake 1696 z8762 unto x413 the sons 1121 of Heth, 2845 saying, 559 z8800

 23:4 I x595 [am] a stranger 1616 and a sojourner 8453 with x5973 you: give 5414 z8798 me a possession 272 of a buryingplace 6913 with x5973 you, that I may bury 6912 z8799 my dead 4191 z8801 out of my sight. 6440 x4480

 23:5 And the children 1121 of Heth 2845 answered 6030 z8799 x853 Abraham, 85 saying 559 z8800 unto him,

 23:6 Hear x8085 us, y8085 z8798 my lord: 113 thou x859 [art] a mighty 430 prince 5387 among x8432 us: y8432 in the choice 4005 of our sepulchres 6913 bury 6912 z8798 x853 thy dead; 4191 z8801 none 3808 376 of x4480 us shall withhold 3607 z8799 from x4480 thee x853 his sepulchre, 6913 but that thou mayest bury 6912 z8800 x4480 thy dead. 4191 z8801

 23:7 And Abraham 85 stood up, 6965 z8799 and bowed y7812 z8691 himself x7812 to the people 5971 of the land, 776 [even] to the children 1121 of Heth. 2845

 23:8 And he communed 1696 z8762 with x854 them, saying, 559 z8800 If x518 it be 3426 x853 your mind 5315 that I should bury 6912 z8800 x853 my dead 4191 z8801 out of my sight; 6440 x4480 hear 8085 z8798 me, and intreat 6293 z8798 for me to Ephron 6085 the son 1121 of Zohar, 6714

 23:9 That he may give 5414 z8799 me x853 the cave 4631 of Machpelah, 4375 which x834 he hath, which x834 [is] in the end 7097 of his field; 7704 for as much y4392 z0 money 3701 as it is worth 4392 he shall give x5414 it y5414 z8799 me for a possession 272 of a buryingplace 6913 amongst x8432 you. y8432

 23:10 And Ephron 6085 dwelt 3427 z8802 among 8432 the children 1121 of Heth: 2845 and Ephron 6085 the Hittite 2850 answered 6030 z8799 x853 Abraham 85 in the audience 241 of the children 1121 of Heth, 2845 [even] of all x3605 that went in 935 z8802 at the gate 8179 of his city, 5892 saying, 559 z8800

 23:11 Nay, 3808 my lord, 113 hear x8085 me: y8085 z8798 the field 7704 give x5414 I y5414 z8804 thee, and the cave 4631 that x834 [is] therein, I give x5414 it y5414 z8804 thee; in the presence 5869 of the sons 1121 of my people 5971 give 5414 z8804 I it thee: bury 6912 z8798 thy dead. 4191 z8801

 23:12 And Abraham 85 bowed down y7812 z8691 himself x7812 before 6440 the people 5971 of the land. 776

 23:13 And he spake 1696 z8762 unto x413 Ephron 6085 in the audience 241 of the people 5971 of the land, 776 saying, 559 z8800 But x389 if x518 thou x859 [wilt give it], I pray thee, 3863 hear 8085 z8798 me: I will give 5414 z8804 thee money 3701 for the field; 7704 take 3947 z8798 [it] of x4480 me, and I will bury 6912 z8799 x853 my dead 4191 z8801 there. x8033

 23:14 And Ephron 6085 answered 6030 z8799 x853 Abraham, 85 saying 559 z8800 unto him,

 23:15 My lord, 113 hearken 8085 z8798 unto me: the land 776 [is worth] four 702 hundred 3967 shekels 8255 of silver; 3701 what x4100 [is] that x1931 betwixt 996 me and thee? bury 6912 z8798 therefore thy dead. 4191 z8801

 23:16 And Abraham 85 hearkened 8085 z8799 unto x413 Ephron; 6085 and Abraham 85 weighed 8254 z8799 to Ephron 6085 x853 the silver, 3701 which x834 he had named 1696 z8765 in the audience 241 of the sons 1121 of Heth, 2845 four 702 hundred 3967 shekels 8255 of silver, 3701 current 5674 z8802 [money] with the merchant. 5503 z8802

 23:17 ¶ And the field 7704 of Ephron, 6085 which x834 [was] in Machpelah, 4375 which x834 [was] before 6440 Mamre, 4471 the field, 7704 and the cave 4631 which x834 [was] therein, and all x3605 the trees 6086 that x834 [were] in the field, 7704 that x834 [were] in all x3605 the borders 1366 round about, 5439 were made sure 6965 z8799

 23:18 Unto Abraham 85 for a possession 4736 in the presence 5869 of the children 1121 of Heth, 2845 before all x3605 that went in 935 z8802 at the gate 8179 of his city. 5892

 23:19 And after 310 this, 3651 Abraham 85 buried 6912 z8804 x853 Sarah 8283 his wife 802 in x413 the cave 4631 of the field 7704 of Machpelah 4375 before 6440 x5921 Mamre: 4471 the same x1931 [is] Hebron 2275 in the land 776 of Canaan. 3667

 23:20 And the field, 7704 and the cave 4631 that x834 [is] therein, were made sure 6965 z8799 unto Abraham 85 for a possession 272 of a buryingplace 6913 by x4480 x854 the sons 1121 of Heth. 2845
