Numbers 22

1 Balak's first message for Balaam is refused. 15 His second message obtaineth him. 22 An angel would have slain him, if his ass had not saved him. 36 Balak entertaineth him.

 22:1 ¶ And the children 1121 of Israel 3478 set forward, 5265 z8799 and pitched 2583 z8799 in the plaines 6160 of Moab, 4124 on this side 5676 x4480 Iordane 3383 by Iericho. 3405

 22:2 ¶ And Balak 1111 the sonne 1121 of Zippor, 6834 saw 7200 z8799 x853 all x3605 that x834 Israel 3478 had done 6213 z8804 to the Amorites. 567

 22:3 And Moab 4124 was sore y3966 afraid 1481 z8799 x3966 of 6440 x4480 the people, 5971 because x3588 they x1931 were many, 7227 and Moab 4124 was distressed, 6973 z8799 because x4480 x6440 of y6440 the children 1121 of Israel. 3478

 22:4 And Moab 4124 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 the elders 2205 of Midian; 4080 Now x6258 shall this company 6951 licke vp 3897 z8762 x853 all x3605 that [are] round about 5439 vs, as the oxe 7794 licketh vp 3897 z8800 x853 the grasse 3418 of the field. 7704 And Balak 1111 the sonne 1121 of Zippor, 6834 [was] King 4428 of the Moabites 4124 at that x1931 time. 6256

 22:5 He sent 7971 z8799 messengers 4397 therefore vnto x413 Balaam 1109 the sonne 1121 of Beor, 1160 to Pethor, 6604 which x834 is by x5921 the riuer 5104 of the land 776 of the children 1121 of his people, 5971 to call 7121 z8800 him, saying, 559 z8800 Behold, x2009 there is a people 5971 come out 3318 z8804 from Egypt: 4714 x4480 beholde, x2009 they couer 3680 z8765 x853 the face 5869 of the earth, 776 and they x1931 abide 3427 z8802 ouer against 4136 x4480 me.

 22:6 Come y3212 z8798 x1980 now x6258 therefore, I pray thee, x4994 curse 779 z8798 mee x853 this x2088 people, 5971 for x3588 they x1931 are too mightie y6099 for x6099 x4480 me: peraduenture x194 I shall preuaile, 3201 z8799 that we may smite 5221 z8686 them, and that I may driue them out 1644 z8762 of x4480 the land: 776 for x3588 I wot 3045 z8804 x853 that he whom x834 thou blessest, 1288 z8762 is blessed, 1288 z8794 and hee whom x834 thou cursest, 779 z8799 is cursed. 779 z8714

 22:7 And the elders 2205 of Moab, 4124 and the elders 2205 of Midian 4080 departed, y3212 z8799 x1980 with the rewards of diuination 7081 in their hand; 3027 and they came 935 z8799 vnto x413 Balaam, 1109 and spake 1696 z8762 vnto x413 him the words 1697 of Balak. 1111

 22:8 And hee said 559 z8799 vnto x413 them, Lodge 3885 z8798 here x6311 this night, 3915 and I will bring 7725 z0 you word 1697 againe y7725 z8689 as x834 the LORD 3068 shal speake 1696 z8762 vnto x413 mee: and the Princes 8269 of Moab 4124 abode 3427 z8799 with x5973 Balaam. 1109

 22:9 And God 430 came 935 z8799 vnto x413 Balaam, 1109 and said, 559 z8799 What x4310 men y582 x376 are these x428 with x5973 thee?

 22:10 And Balaam 1109 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 God, 430 Balak 1111 the sonne 1121 of Zippor, 6834 King 4428 of Moab, 4124 hath sent 7971 z8804 vnto x413 me, [saying];

 22:11 Behold, x2009 there is a people 5971 come out 3318 z8802 of Egypt, 4714 x4480 which couereth 3680 z8762 x853 the face 5869 of the earth: 776 Come y3212 z8798 x1980 now, x6258 curse 6895 z8798 me them; peraduenture x194 I shalbe able 3201 z8799 to ouercome 3898 z8736 them, and driue them out. 1644 z8765

 22:12 And God 430 saide 559 z8799 vnto x413 Balaam; 1109 Thou shalt not x3808 goe y3212 z8799 x1980 with x5973 them, thou shalt not x3808 curse 779 z8799 x853 the people: 5971 for x3588 they x1931 are blessed. 1288 z8803

 22:13 And Balaam 1109 rose vp 6965 z8799 in the morning, 1242 and said 559 z8799 vnto x413 the Princes 8269 of Balak, 1111 Get y3212 z8798 x1980 you into x413 your land: 776 for x3588 the LORD 3068 refuseth 3985 z8765 to giue mee leaue 5414 z8800 to goe 1980 z8800 with x5973 you.

 22:14 And the Princes 8269 of Moab 4124 rose vp, 6965 z8799 and they went 935 z8799 vnto x413 Balak, 1111 and said, 559 z8799 Balaam 1109 refuseth 3985 z8765 to come 1980 z8800 with x5973 vs.

 22:15 ¶ And Balak 1111 sent 7971 z8800 yet x5750 againe 3254 z8686 Princes, 8269 moe, 7227 and more honourable 3513 z8737 then they. x4480 x428

 22:16 And they came 935 z8799 to x413 Balaam, 1109 and said 559 z8799 to him, Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 Balak 1111 the son 1121 of Zippor; 6834 Let nothing, x408 I pray thee, x4994 hinder 4513 z8735 thee from comming 1980 z8800 x4480 vnto x413 me:

 22:17 For x3588 I wil promote y3513 z0 thee vnto very y3966 great y3513 z8763 honour, 3513 z8762 x3966 and I will do 6213 z8799 whatsoeuer x3605 x834 thou saiest 559 z8799 vnto x413 me: Come y3212 z8798 x1980 therefore, I pray thee, x4994 curse 6895 z8798 me x853 this x2088 people. 5971

 22:18 And Balaam 1109 answered 6030 z8799 and said 559 z8799 vnto x413 the seruants 5650 of Balak, 1111 If x518 Balak 1111 would giue 5414 z8799 me his house 1004 full 4393 of siluer 3701 and gold, 2091 I cannot 3201 z8799 x3808 goe beyond 5674 z8800 x853 the word 6310 of the LORD 3068 my God, 430 to doe 6213 z8800 lesse 6996 or x176 more. 1419

 22:19 Now x6258 therefore, I pray you, x4994 tarie 3427 z8798 yee x859 also x1571 here x2088 this night, 3915 that I may know 3045 z8799 what x4100 the LORD 3068 will say 1696 z8763 vnto x5973 me more. 3254 z8686

 22:20 And God 430 came 935 z8799 vnto x413 Balaam 1109 at night, 3915 and said 559 z8799 vnto him, If x518 the men y582 x376 come 935 z8804 to call 7121 z8800 thee, rise vp, 6965 z8798 and goe y3212 z8798 x1980 with x854 them: but yet 389 x853 the word 1697 which x834 I shall say 1696 z8762 vnto x413 thee, that shalt thou doe. 6213 z8799

 22:21 And Balaam 1109 rose vp 6965 z8799 in the morning, 1242 and sadled 2280 z8799 x853 his asse, 860 and went y3212 z8799 x1980 with x5973 the princes 8269 of Moab. 4124

 22:22 ¶ And Gods 430 anger 639 was kindled, 2734 z8799 because x3588 he x1931 went: 1980 z8802 and the Angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 stood 3320 z8691 in the way 1870 for an aduersarie 7854 against him: Now he x1931 was riding 7392 z8802 vpon x5921 his asse, 860 and his two 8147 seruants 5288 [were] with x5973 him.

 22:23 And the Asse 860 sawe 7200 z8799 x853 the Angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 standing 5324 z8737 in the way, 1870 and his sword 2719 drawen 8025 z8803 in his hand: 3027 and the asse 860 turned aside 5186 z8799 out of x4480 the way, 1870 and went y3212 z8799 x1980 into the field: 7704 and Balaam 1109 smote 5221 z8686 x853 the asse, 860 to turne 5186 z8687 her into the way. 1870

 22:24 But the Angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 stood 5975 z8799 in a path 4934 of the vineyards, 3754 a wall 1447 being on this side, x4480 x2088 & a wall 1447 on that side. x4480 x2088

 22:25 And when the asse 860 saw 7200 z8799 x853 the Angel 4397 of the LORD, 3068 she thrust y3905 z8735 her selfe x3905 vnto x413 the wall, 7023 and crusht 3905 z8799 x853 Balaams 1109 foote 7272 against x413 the wall: 7023 and hee smote 5221 z8687 her againe. 3254 z8686

 22:26 And the Angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 went 5674 z8800 further, 3254 z8686 and stood 5975 z8799 in a narrowe 6862 place, 4725 where x834 was no x369 way 1870 to turne, 5186 z8800 either to the right hand, 3225 or to the left. 8040

 22:27 And when the asse 860 sawe 7200 z8799 x853 the Angel 4397 of the LORD, 3068 shee fell downe 7257 z8799 vnder x8478 Balaam, 1109 and Balaams 1109 anger 639 was kindled, 2734 z8799 and hee smote 5221 z8686 x853 the asse 860 with a staffe. 4731

 22:28 And the LORD 3068 opened 6605 z8799 x853 the mouth 6310 of the asse, 860 and shee saide 559 z8799 vnto Balaam, 1109 What x4100 haue I done 6213 z8804 vnto thee, that x3588 thou hast smitten 5221 z8689 mee these x2088 three 7969 times? 7272

 22:29 And Balaam 1109 said 559 z8799 vnto the asse, 860 Because x3588 thou hast mocked 5953 z8694 mee: I would 3863 there were 3426 a sword 2719 in mine hand, 3027 for x3588 now x6258 would I kill 2026 z8804 thee.

 22:30 And the asse 860 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 Balaam, 1109 [Am] not x3808 I x595 thine asse, 860 vpon x5921 which x834 thou hast ridden 7392 z8804 euer since x4480 x5750 I was thine, vnto x5704 this x2088 day? 3117 was I euer y5532 z8687 wont 5532 z8689 to do x6213 so y6213 z8800 x3541 vnto thee? And he said, 559 z8799 Nay. x3808

 22:31 Then the LORD 3068 opened 1540 z8762 x853 the eyes 5869 of Balaam, 1109 and hee saw 7200 z8799 x853 the Angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 standing 5324 z8737 in the way, 1870 and his sword 2719 drawen 8025 z8803 in his hand: 3027 and hee bowed downe y6915 z8799 his head, x6915 and fell flat 7812 z8691 on his face. 639

 22:32 And the Angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 him, Wherefore x5921 x4100 hast thou smitten 5221 z8689 x853 thine asse 860 these x2088 three 7969 times? 7272 Behold, x2009 I x595 went out 3318 z8804 to withstand 7854 thee, because x3588 [thy] way 1870 is peruerse 3399 z8804 before x5048 me.

 22:33 And the asse 860 saw 7200 z8799 me, and turned 5186 z8799 from x6440 me y6440 these x2088 three 7969 times: 7272 vnlesse 194 shee had turned 5186 z8804 from x4480 x6440 me, y6440 surely x3588 now x6258 also x1571 I had slaine 2026 z8804 thee, and saued her aliue. 2421 z8689 x853

 22:34 And Balaam 1109 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 the Angel 4397 of the LORD, 3068 I haue sinned: 2398 z8804 for x3588 I knew 3045 z8804 not x3808 that x3588 thou x859 stoodest 5324 z8737 in the way 1870 against 7125 z8800 mee: Now x6258 therefore if x518 it displease x7489 x5869 thee, y7489 z8804 y5869 I will get mee backe againe. 7725 z8799

 22:35 And the Angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 Balaam, 1109 Goe y3212 z8798 x1980 with x5973 the men: y582 x376 but onely 657 x853 the word 1697 that x834 I shall speake 1696 z8762 vnto x413 thee, that thou shalt speake: 1696 z8762 So Balaam 1109 went y3212 z8799 x1980 with x5973 the princes 8269 of Balak. 1111

 22:36 ¶ And when Balak 1111 heard 8085 z8799 that x3588 Balaam 1109 was come, 935 z8802 hee went out 3318 z8799 to meete 7125 z8800 him, vnto x413 a citie 5892 of Moab, 4124 which x834 [is] in x5921 the border 1366 of Arnon, 769 which x834 [is] in the vtmost 7097 coast. 1366

 22:37 And Balak 1111 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 Balaam, 1109 Did I not x3808 earnestly y7971 z8800 send 7971 z8804 vnto x413 thee to call 7121 z8800 thee? wherefore x4100 camest 1980 z8804 thou not x3808 vnto x413 me? Am I not able 3201 z8799 x3808 indeed 552 to promote thee to honour? 3513 z8763

 22:38 And Balaam 1109 saide 559 z8799 vnto x413 Balak, 1111 Loe, x2009 I am come 935 z8804 vnto x413 thee: haue I now x6258 any power y3201 z8799 at all 3201 z8800 to say 1696 z8763 any thing? 3972 the worde 1697 that x834 God 430 putteth 7760 z8799 in my mouth, 6310 that shall I speake. 1696 z8762

 22:39 And Balaam 1109 went y3212 z8799 x1980 with x5973 Balak, 1111 and they came 935 z8799 vnto Kiriath-Huzoth. 7155 y2351

 22:40 And Balak 1111 offered 2076 z8799 oxen, 1241 and sheepe, 6629 and sent 7971 z8762 to Balaam, 1109 and to the princes 8269 that x834 [were] with x854 him.

 22:41 And it came to passe x1961 on the morrow, 1242 that Balak 1111 tooke 3947 z8799 x853 Balaam, 1109 and brought him vp 5927 z8686 into the high places 1116 of Baal, y1120 x1168 that thence x4480 x8033 hee might see 7200 z8799 the vtmost 7097 part of the people. 5971
