1 Hezekiah his good reign. 4 He destroyeth idolatry, and prospereth. 9 Samaria is carried captive for their sins. 13 Sennacherib invading Judah is pacified by a tribute. 17 Rab-shakeh, sent by Sennacherib again, revileth Hezekiah, and by blasphemous persuasions soliciteth the people to revolt.

 18:1 ¶ Now it came to passe x1961 in the third 7969 yere 8141 of Hoshea 1954 sonne 1121 of Elah 425 king 4428 of Israel, 3478 [that] Hezekiah 2396 the sonne 1121 of Ahaz 271 king 4428 of Iudah, 3063 began to reigne. 4427 z8804

 18:2 Twentie 6242 and fiue 2568 yeeres 8141 old 1121 was x1961 he when hee began to reigne, 4427 z8800 and hee reigned 4427 z8804 twentie 6242 and nine 8672 yeeres 8141 in Ierusalem: 3389 His mothers 517 name 8034 also [was] Abi, 21 the daughter 1323 of Zachariah. 2148

 18:3 And he did 6213 z8799 that which [was] right 3477 in the sight 5869 of the LORD, 3068 according to all x3605 that x834 Dauid 1732 his father 1 did. 6213 z8804

 18:4 ¶ He x1931 remooued 5493 z8689 x853 the high places, 1116 and brake 7665 z8765 x853 the images, 4676 and cut downe 3772 z8804 x853 the groues, 842 and brake in pieces 3807 z8765 the brasen 5178 serpent 5175 that x834 Moses 4872 had made: 6213 z8804 for x3588 vnto x5704 those x1992 dayes 3117 the children 1121 of Israel 3478 did x1961 burne incense 6999 z8764 to it: and he called 7121 z8799 it Nehushtan. 5180

 18:5 He trusted 982 z8804 in the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel, 3478 so that after 310 him was x1961 none x3808 like him x3644 among all x3605 the kings 4428 of Iudah, 3063 nor [any] that x834 were x1961 before 6440 him.

 18:6 For he claue 1692 z8799 to the LORD, 3068 [and] departed 5493 z8804 not x3808 from following 310 x4480 him, but kept 8104 z8799 his commandements, 4687 which x834 the LORD 3068 commanded 6680 z8765 x853 Moses. 4872

 18:7 And the LORD 3068 was x1961 with x5973 him, [and] hee prospered 7919 z8686 whithersoeuer x3605 x834 hee went forth: 3318 z8799 and he rebelled 4775 z8799 against the king 4428 of Assyria, 804 and serued 5647 z8804 him not. x3808

 18:8 He x1931 smote 5221 z8689 x853 the Philistines 6430 euen vnto x5704 Gaza, 5804 and the borders 1366 thereof, from the towre 4026 x4480 of the watchmen 5341 z8802 to x5704 the fenced 4013 cities. 5892

 18:9 ¶ And it came to passe x1961 in the fourth 7243 yeere 8141 of king 4428 Hezekiah, 2396 (which x1931 was the seuenth 7637 yeere 8141 of Hoshea, 1954 sonne 1121 of Elah 425 king 4428 of Israel) 3478 that Shalmaneser 8022 king 4428 of Assyria 804 came vp 5927 z8804 against x5921 Samaria, 8111 and besieged 6696 z8799 x5921 it.

 18:10 And at the end 7097 x4480 of three 7969 yeeres 8141 they tooke 3920 z8799 it: [euen] in the sixt 8337 yeere 8141 of Hezekiah 2396 (that x1931 is the ninth 8672 yeere 8141 of Hoshea 1954 king 4428 of Israel) 3478 Samaria 8111 was taken. 3920 z8738

 18:11 And the king 4428 of Assyria 804 did carie away 1540 z8686 x853 Israel 3478 vnto Assyria, 804 and put 5148 z8686 them in Halah 2477 and in Habor 2249 [by] the riuer 5104 of Gozan, 1470 & in the cities 5892 of the Medes: 4074

 18:12 Because x5921 x834 they obeyed 8085 z8804 not x3808 the voice 6963 of the LORD 3068 their God, 430 but transgressed 5674 z8799 x853 his Couenant, 1285 [and] x853 all x3605 that x834 Moses 4872 the seruant 5650 of the LORD 3068 commanded, 6680 z8765 and would not x3808 heare 8085 z8804 [them], nor x3808 doe 6213 z8804 [them].

 18:13 ¶ Now in the fourteenth 702 6240 yeere 8141 of king 4428 Hezekiah, 2396 did Sennacherib 5576 king 4428 of Assyria 804 come vp 5927 z8804 against x5921 all x3605 the fenced 1219 z8803 cities 5892 of Iudah, 3063 and tooke 8610 z8799 them.

 18:14 And Hezekiah 2396 king 4428 of Iudah 3063 sent 7971 z8799 to x413 the king 4428 of Assyria 804 to Lachish, 3923 saying, 559 z8800 I haue offended, 2398 z8804 returne 7725 z8798 from x4480 x5921 me: x853 that which x834 thou puttest 5414 z8799 on x5921 me, wil I beare. 5375 z8799 And the king 4428 of Assyria 804 appointed 7760 z8799 vnto x5921 Hezekiah 2396 king 4428 of Iudah, 3063 three 7969 hundred 3967 talents 3603 of siluer, 3701 and thirtie 7970 talents 3603 of gold. 2091

 18:15 And Hezekiah 2396 gaue 5414 z8799 [him] x853 all x3605 the siluer 3701 that was found 4672 z8737 in the house 1004 of the LORD, 3068 and in the treasures 214 of the kings 4428 house. 1004

 18:16 At that x1931 time 6256 did Hezekiah 2396 cut off 7112 z8765 [the gold from] x853 the doores 1817 of the temple 1964 of the LORD, 3068 and [from] the pillars 547 which x834 Hezekiah 2396 king 4428 of Iudah 3063 had ouerlaid, 6823 z8765 and gaue 5414 z8799 it to the king 4428 of Assyria. 804

 18:17 ¶ And the king 4428 of Assyria 804 sent 7971 z8799 x853 Tartan 8661 and Rabsaris, 7249 and Rabshakeh, 7262 from x4480 Lachish 3923 to x413 king 4428 Hezekiah, 2396 with a great 3515 hoste 2426 against Ierusalem: 3389 and they went vp, 5927 z8799 and came 935 z8799 to Ierusalem: 3389 and when they were come vp, 5927 z8799 they came 935 z8799 and stood 5975 z8799 by the conduit 8585 of the vpper 5945 poole, 1295 which x834 [is] in the high way 4546 of the fullers 3526 z8801 field. 7704

 18:18 And when they had called 7121 z8799 to x413 the king 4428 there came out 3318 z8799 to x413 them Eliakim 471 the sonne 1121 of Helkiah, 2518 which x834 [was] ouer x5921 the houshold, 1004 and Shebna 7644 the Scribe, 5608 z8802 and Ioah 3098 the sonne 1121 of Asaph 623 the Recorder. 2142 z8688

 18:19 And Rabshakeh 7262 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 them, Speake 559 z8798 yee now x4994 to x413 Hezekiah, 2396 Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the great 1419 king, 4428 the king 4428 of Assyria, 804 What x4100 confidence 986 is this x2088 wherein x834 thou trustest? 982 z8804

 18:20 Thou sayest, 559 z8804 (but x389 [they are but] vaine 8193 words) 1697 [I haue] counsell 6098 and strength 1369 for the warre: 4421 now x6258 on x5921 whom x4310 doest thou trust, 982 z8804 that x3588 thou rebellest 4775 z8804 against me?

 18:21 Now x6258 behold, x2009 thou trustest 982 z8804 vpon x5921 the staffe 4938 of this x2088 bruised 7533 z8803 reed, 7070 [euen] vpon x5921 Egypt, 4714 on x5921 which x834 if a man 376 leane, 5564 z8735 it will goe 935 z8804 into his hand, 3709 and pierce 5344 z8804 it: so x3651 [is] Pharaoh 6547 king 4428 of Egypt 4714 vnto all x3605 that trust 982 z8802 on x5921 him.

 18:22 But if x3588 ye say 559 z8799 vnto x413 me, We trust 982 z8804 in x413 the LORD 3068 our God: 430 [is] not x3808 that hee x1931 whose x834 x853 high places, 1116 and whose altars 4196 Hezekiah 2396 hath taken away, 5493 z8689 and hath said 559 z8799 to Iudah 3063 and Ierusalem, 3389 Ye shall worship 7812 z8691 before 6440 this x2088 altar 4196 in Ierusalem? 3389

 18:23 Now x6258 therefore, I pray thee, x4994 giue pledges y6148 z8690 x6149 to x854 my lord 113 the king 4428 of Assyria, 804 and I will deliuer 5414 z8799 thee two thousand 505 horses, 5483 if x518 thou be able 3201 z8799 on thy part to set 5414 z8800 riders 7392 z8802 vpon x5921 them.

 18:24 How x349 then wilt thou turne away 7725 z8686 x853 the face 6440 of one 259 captaine 6346 of the least 6996 of my masters 113 seruants, 5650 and put thy trust 982 z8799 on x5921 Egypt 4714 for charets 7393 and for horsemen? 6571

 18:25 Am I now x6258 come vp 5927 z8804 without 1107 x4480 the LORD 3068 against x5921 this x2088 place, 4725 to destroy 7843 z8687 it? The LORD 3068 sayd 559 z8804 to x413 me, Goe vp 5927 z8798 against x5921 this x2063 land, 776 and destroy 7843 z8685 it.

 18:26 Then said 559 z8799 Eliakim 471 the sonne 1121 of Hilkiah, 2518 and Shebna, 7644 and Ioah, 3098 vnto x413 Rabshakeh, 7262 Speake, 1696 z8761 I pray thee, x4994 to x413 thy seruants 5650 in the Syrian language, 762 (for x3588 wee x587 vnderstand 8085 z8802 [it]) and talke 1696 z8762 not x408 with x5973 vs in the Iewes language, 3066 in the eares 241 of the people 5971 that x834 [are] on x5921 the wall. 2346

 18:27 But Rabshakeh 7262 sayd 559 z8799 vnto x413 them, Hath my master 113 sent 7971 z8804 me to x5921 thy master, 113 and to x413 thee, to speake 1696 z8763 x853 these x428 wordes? 1697 hath he not x3808 [sent me] to x5921 the men y582 x376 which sit 3427 z8802 on x5921 the wall, 2346 that they may eate 398 z8800 x853 their owne doung, 6675 z8675 y2755 and drinke 8354 z8800 x853 their owne pisse 4325 7272 z8675 y7890 with x5973 you?

 18:28 Then Rabshakeh 7262 stood 5975 z8799 and cried 7121 z8799 with a loude 1419 voice 6963 in the Iewes language, 3066 and spake, 1696 z8762 saying, 559 z8799 Heare 8085 z8798 the word 1697 of the great 1419 king, 4428 the king 4428 of Assyria. 804

 18:29 Thus x3541 sayth 559 z8804 the king, 4428 Let not x408 Hezekiah 2396 deceiue 5377 z8686 you, for x3588 he shall not x3808 be able 3201 z8799 to deliuer 5337 z8687 you out of his hand: 3027 x4480

 18:30 Neither x408 let Hezekiah 2396 make you trust 982 z8686 x853 in x413 the LORD, 3068 saying, 559 z8800 The LORD 3068 will surely y5337 z8687 deliuer 5337 z8686 vs, and x853 this x2063 city 5892 shall not x3808 bee deliuered 5414 z8735 into the hand 3027 of the king 4428 of Assyria. 804

 18:31 Hearken 8085 z8799 not x408 to x413 Hezekiah: 2396 for x3588 thus x3541 sayth 559 z8804 the king 4428 of Assyria, 804 Make 6213 z8798 [an agreement] with x854 me by a present, 1293 and come out 3318 z8798 to x413 me, and then eate 398 z8798 yee euery man 376 of his owne vine, 1612 and euery one 376 of his figge tree, 8384 and drinke 8354 z8798 yee euery one 376 the waters 4325 of his cisterne: 953

 18:32 Untill x5704 I come 935 z8800 and take you away 3947 z8804 x853 to x413 a land 776 like your owne land, 776 a land 776 of corne 1715 and wine, 8492 a land 776 of bread 3899 and vineyards, 3754 a land 776 of oile 3323 Oliue, 2132 and of honie, 1706 that yee may liue, 2421 z8798 and not x3808 die: 4191 z8799 and hearken 8085 z8799 not x408 vnto x413 Hezekiah, 2396 when x3588 hee perswadeth 5496 z8686 you, saying, 559 z8800 The LORD 3068 will deliuer 5337 z8686 vs.

 18:33 Hath any 376 of the gods 430 of the nations 1471 deliuered y5337 z8689 at all 5337 z8687 x853 his land 776 out of the hand 3027 x4480 of the king 4428 of Assyria? 804

 18:34 Where x346 [are] the gods 430 of Hamath, 2574 and of Arpad? 774 where x346 [are] the gods 430 of Sepharuaim, 5617 Hena, 2012 and Iuah? 5755 haue they deliuered 5337 z8689 x853 Samaria 8111 out of mine hand? 3027 x4480

 18:35 Who x4310 [are] they among all x3605 the gods 430 of the countreys, 776 that x834 haue deliuered 5337 z8689 x853 their countrey 776 out of mine hand, 3027 x4480 that x3588 the LORD 3068 should deliuer 5337 z8686 x853 Ierusalem 3389 out of mine hand? 3027 x4480

 18:36 But the people 5971 helde their peace, 2790 z8689 and answered 6030 z8804 him not x3808 a word: 1697 for x3588 the kings 4428 commaundement 4687 was, saying, 559 z8800 Answere 6030 z8799 him not. x3808

 18:37 Then came 935 z8799 Eliakim 471 the sonne 1121 of Hilkiah, 2518 which x834 [was] ouer x5921 the houshold, 1004 and Shebna 7644 the Scribe, 5608 z8802 and Ioah 3098 the sonne 1121 of Asaph 623 the Recorder, 2142 z8688 to x413 Hezekiah 2396 with [their] clothes 899 rent, 7167 z8803 and tolde 5046 z8686 him the words 1697 of Rabshakeh. 7262
