2 Kings 10

1 Jehu, by his letters, causeth seventy of Ahab's children to be beheaded. 8 He excuseth the fact by the prophecy of Elijah. 12 At the shearing house he slayeth two and forty of Ahaziah's brethren. 15 He taketh Jehonadab into his company. 18 By subtilty he destroyeth all the worshippers of Baal. 29 Jehu followeth Jeroboam's sins. 32 Hazael oppresseth Israel. 35 Jehoahaz succeedeth Jehu.

 10:1 ¶ And Ahab 256 had seuentie 7657 sonnes 1121 in Samaria: 8111 and Iehu 3058 wrote 3789 z8799 letters, 5612 and sent 7971 z8799 to Samaria 8111 vnto x413 the rulers 8269 of Iezreel, 3157 to the Elders, 2205 and to x413 them that brought vp 539 z8802 Ahabs 256 [children], saying, 559 z8800

 10:2 Now x6258 assoone as this x2088 letter 5612 commeth 935 z8800 to x413 you, seeing your masters 113 sons 1121 [are] with x854 you, and there [are] with x854 you charets 7393 and horses, 5483 a fenced 4013 citie 5892 also, and armour: 5402

 10:3 Looke euen out 7200 z8804 the best 2896 and meetest 3477 of your masters y113 sonnes, 1121 x4480 x113 and set 7760 z8804 [him] on x5921 his fathers 1 throne, 3678 and fight 3898 z8734 for x5921 your masters 113 house. 1004

 10:4 But they were exceedingly 3966 afraid, 3372 z8799 and said, 559 z8799 Behold, x2009 two 8147 kings 4428 stood 5975 z8804 not x3808 before 6440 him: how x349 then shall we x587 stand? 5975 z8799

 10:5 And he that x834 [was] ouer x5921 the house, 1004 and he that x834 [was] ouer x5921 the citie, 5892 the elders 2205 also, and the bringers vp 539 z8802 [of the children], sent 7971 z8799 to x413 Iehu, 3058 saying, 559 z8800 Wee x587 are thy seruants, 5650 and will doe 6213 z8799 all x3605 that x834 thou shalt bid 559 z8799 x413 vs, we will not x3808 make any y376 king: 4427 z8686 x376 doe 6213 z8798 thou [that which is] good 2896 in thine eyes. 5869

 10:6 Then he wrote 3789 z8799 a letter 5612 the second time 8145 to x413 them, saying, 559 z8800 If x518 yee x859 [be] mine, and if ye x859 will hearken 8085 z8802 vnto my voyce, 6963 take 3947 z8798 ye x853 the heads 7218 of the men y582 x376 your masters 113 sonnes, 1121 and come 935 z8798 to x413 me to Iezreel 3157 by to morow 4279 this time: 6256 (now the kings 4428 sonnes 1121 being seuenty 7657 persons, 376 [were] with x854 the great men 1419 of the city, 5892 which brought them vp.) 1431 z8764 x853

 10:7 And it came to passe x1961 when the letter 5612 came 935 z8800 to x413 them, that they tooke 3947 z8799 x853 the kings 4428 sonnes, 1121 and slewe 7819 z8799 seuentie 7657 persons, 376 and put 7760 z8799 x853 their heads 7218 in baskets, 1731 and sent 7971 z8799 x413 him [them] to Iezreel. 3157

 10:8 ¶ And there came 935 z8799 a messenger, 4397 and tolde 5046 z8686 him, saying, 559 z8800 They haue brought 935 z8689 the heads 7218 of the kings 4428 sonnes. 1121 And he said, 559 z8799 Lay 7760 z8798 ye them in two 8147 heaps 6652 at the entring in 6607 of the gate, 8179 vntill x5704 the morning. 1242

 10:9 And it came to passe x1961 in the morning, 1242 that he went out, 3318 z8799 & stood, 5975 z8799 and said 559 z8799 to x413 all x3605 the people, 5971 Ye x859 [be] righteous: 6662 behold, x2009 I x589 conspired 7194 z8804 against x5921 my master, 113 and slew 2026 z8799 him: But who x4310 slew 5221 z8689 x853 all x3605 these? x428

 10:10 Know 3045 z8798 now, 645 that x3588 there shall fall 5307 z8799 vnto the earth 776 nothing x3808 of the worde 1697 x4480 of the LORD, 3068 which x834 the LORD 3068 spake 1696 z8765 concerning x5921 the house 1004 of Ahab: 256 for the LORD 3068 hath done 6213 z8804 x853 [that] which x834 he spake 1696 z8765 by 3027 his seruant 5650 Elijah. 452

 10:11 So Iehu 3058 slew 5221 z8686 x853 all x3605 that remained 7604 z8737 of the house 1004 of Ahab, 256 in Iezreel, 3157 and all x3605 his great men, 1419 and his kinsefolkes, 3045 z8794 and his priests, 3548 vntill x5704 he left 7604 z8689 him none x1115 remaining. 8300

 10:12 ¶ And hee arose, 6965 z8799 and departed, 935 z8799 and came y3212 z8799 x1980 to Samaria: 8111 And [as] he x1931 was at the shearing y7462 z8802 house 1044 y1004 z8677 in the way, 1870

 10:13 Iehu 3058 met 4672 z8804 with x853 the brethren 251 of Ahaziah 274 king 4428 of Iudah, 3063 and said, 559 z8799 Who x4310 [are] ye? x859 And they answered, 559 z8799 Wee x587 [are] the brethren 251 of Ahaziah, 274 and we go downe 3381 z8799 to salute 7965 the children 1121 of the King, 4428 and the children 1121 of the Queene. 1377

 10:14 And hee said, 559 z8799 Take 8610 z8798 them aliue. 2416 And they tooke 8610 z8799 them aliue, 2416 and slew 7819 z8799 them at x413 the pit 953 of the shearing house, 1044 [euen] two 8147 and fourty 705 men; 376 neither x3808 left 7604 z8689 he any 376 of x4480 them.

 10:15 ¶ And when hee was departed y3212 z8799 x1980 thence, x4480 x8033 he lighted y4672 z8799 on x4672 x853 Iehonadab 3082 the sonne 1121 of Rechab, 7394 [comming] to meet y7125 z8800 x7122 him: and he saluted 1288 z8762 him, & said 559 z8799 to x413 him, Is 3426 x853 thine heart 3824 right, 3477 as x834 my heart 3824 [is] with x5973 thy heart? 3824 And Iehonadab 3082 answered, 559 z8799 It is: 3426 If it be, x3426 giue 5414 z8798 mee x853 thine hand. 3027 And hee gaue 5414 z8799 him his hand, 3027 and hee tooke him vp 5927 z8686 to x413 him into x413 the charet. 4818

 10:16 And he said, 559 z8799 Come y3212 z8798 x1980 with x854 me, and see 7200 z8798 my zeale 7068 for the LORD: 3068 so they made him ride 7392 z8686 in his charet. 7393

 10:17 And when he came 935 z8799 to Samaria, 8111 he slew 5221 z8686 x853 all x3605 that remained 7604 z8737 vnto Ahab 256 in Samaria, 8111 till x5704 he had destroyed 8045 z8689 him, according to the saying 1697 of the LORD, 3068 which x834 he spake 1696 z8765 to x413 Eliiah. 452

 10:18 ¶ And Iehu 3058 gathered 6908 z0 x853 all x3605 the people 5971 together, y6908 z8799 and said 559 z8799 vnto x413 them, Ahab 256 serued 5647 z8804 x853 Baal 1168 a litle, 4592 [but] Iehu 3058 shall serue 5647 z8799 him much. 7235 z8687

 10:19 Now x6258 therefore, call 7121 z8798 vnto x413 me all x3605 the prophets 5030 of Baal, 1168 all x3605 his seruants, 5647 z8802 and all x3605 his priests, 3548 let none 376 x408 be wanting: 6485 z8735 for x3588 I haue a great 1419 sacrifice 2077 [to doe] to Baal; 1168 whosoeuer x3605 x834 shall be wanting, 6485 z8735 he shall not x3808 liue. 2421 z8799 But Iehu 3058 did 6213 z8804 [it] in subtilitie, 6122 to the intent x4616 that hee might destroy 6 z8687 x853 the worshippers 5647 z8802 of Baal. 1168

 10:20 And Iehu 3058 said, 559 z8799 Proclaime 6942 z8761 a solemne assembly 6116 for Baal. 1168 And they proclaimed 7121 z8799 [it].

 10:21 And Iehu 3058 sent 7971 z8799 through all x3605 Israel, 3478 and all x3605 the worshippers 5647 z8802 of Baal 1168 came, 935 z8799 so that there was not x3808 a man 376 left 7604 z8738 that x834 came 935 z8804 not: x3808 and they came 935 z8799 into the house 1004 of Baal; 1168 and the house 1004 of Baal 1168 was full 4390 z8735 from one end 6310 to another. 6310

 10:22 And he said 559 z8799 vnto him that x834 was ouer x5921 the vestrie, 4458 Bring forth 3318 z8685 vestments 3830 for all x3605 the worshippers 5647 z8802 of Baal. 1168 And he brought them forth 3318 z8686 vestments. 4403

 10:23 And Iehu 3058 went, 935 z8799 and Iehonadab 3082 the sonne 1121 of Rechab 7394 into the house 1004 of Baal, 1168 and said 559 z8799 vnto the worshippers 5647 z8802 of Baal, 1168 Search, 2664 z8761 and looke 7200 z8798 that x6435 there be 3426 here x6311 with x5973 you none of the seruants 5650 x4480 of the LORD, 3068 but x3588 x518 the worshippers 5647 z8802 of Baal 1168 onely. x905

 10:24 And when they went in 935 z8799 to offer 6213 z8800 sacrifices, 2077 and burnt offerings, 5930 Iehu 3058 appointed 7760 z8804 fourescore 8084 men 376 without, 2351 and said, 559 z8799 If any 376 of x4480 the men y582 x376 whom x834 I x589 haue brought 935 z8688 into x5921 your hands, 3027 escape, 4422 z8735 hee that letteth him goe, his life 5315 [shall be] for x8478 the life 5315 of him.

 10:25 And it came to passe x1961 assoone as hee had made an end 3615 z8763 of offering 6213 z8800 the burnt offering, 5930 that Iehu 3058 saide 559 z8799 to the guard, 7323 z8801 and to the captaines, 7991 Goe in, 935 z8798 [and] slay 5221 z8685 them, let none 376 x408 come foorth. 3318 z8799 And they smote 5221 z8686 them with the edge 6310 of the sword, 2719 and the guard, 7323 z8801 and the captaines 7991 cast them out, 7993 z8686 and went y3212 z8799 x1980 to x5704 the citie 5892 of the house 1004 of Baal. 1168

 10:26 And they brought foorth 3318 z8686 x853 the Images 4676 out of the house 1004 of Baal, 1168 and burnt 8313 z8799 them.

 10:27 And they brake downe 5422 z8799 x853 the image 4676 of Baal, 1168 and brake downe 5422 z8799 x853 the house 1004 of Baal, 1168 and made 7760 z8799 it a draughthouse, 4163 z8675 y4280 vnto x5704 this day. 3117

 10:28 Thus Iehu 3058 destroyed 8045 z8686 x853 Baal 1168 out of Israel. 3478 x4480

 10:29 ¶ Howbeit, x7535 [from] the sinnes 2399 of Ieroboam 3379 the sonne 1121 of Nebat, 5028 who x834 made x853 Israel 3478 to sinne, 2398 z8689 Iehu 3058 departed 5493 z8804 not x3808 from after 310 x4480 them, [to wit], the golden 2091 calues 5695 that x834 [were] in Bethel, 1008 and that x834 [were] in Dan. 1835

 10:30 And the LORD 3068 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 Iehu, 3058 Because x3282 x834 thou hast done well 2895 z8689 in executing 6213 z8800 that which is right 3477 in mine eyes, 5869 [and] hast done 6213 z8804 vnto the house 1004 of Ahab 256 according to all x3605 that x834 [was] in mine heart, 3824 thy children 1121 of the fourth 7243 [generation], shal sit 3427 z8799 on x5921 the throne 3678 of Israel. 3478

 10:31 But Iehu 3058 tooke no heede 8104 z8804 x3808 to walke y3212 z8800 x1980 in the Law 8451 of the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel, 3478 with all x3605 his heart: 3824 [for] he departed 5493 z8804 not x3808 from x4480 x5921 the sinnes 2403 of Ieroboam, 3379 which x834 made x853 Israel 3478 to sinne. 2398 z8689

 10:32 ¶ In those x1992 dayes 3117 the LORD 3068 began 2490 z8689 to cut y7096 z0 Israel y3478 short: 7096 z8763 x3478 and Hazael 2371 smote 5221 z8686 them in all x3605 the coasts 1366 of Israel: 3478

 10:33 From x4480 Iordan 3383 Eastward, 4217 8121 x853 all x3605 the land 776 of Gilead, 1568 the Gadites, 1425 and the Reubenites, 7206 and the Manassites, 4520 from Aroer, 6177 x4480 (which x834 [is] by x5921 the riuer 5158 Arnon) 769 euen Gilead 1568 and Bashan. 1316

 10:34 Now the rest 3499 of the acts 1697 of Iehu, 3058 and all x3605 that x834 he did, 6213 z8804 & all x3605 his might, 1369 are they x1992 not x3808 written 3789 z8803 in x5921 the booke 5612 of the Chronicles 1697 3117 of the kings 4428 of Israel? 3478

 10:35 And Iehu 3058 slept 7901 z8799 with x5973 his fathers, 1 and they buried 6912 z8799 him in Samaria, 8111 and Iehoahaz 3059 his sonne 1121 reigned 4427 z8799 in his stead. x8478

 10:36 And the time 3117 that x834 Iehu 3058 reigned 4427 z8804 ouer x5921 Israel 3478 in Samaria, 8111 [was] twentie 6242 and eight 8083 yeeres. 8141
