1 Samuel 31

1 Saul having lost his army, and his sons slain, he and his armourbearer kill themselves. 7 The Philistines possess the forsaken towns of the Israelites. 8 They triumph over the dead carcases. 11 They of Jabesh-gilead, recovering the bodies by night, burn them at Jabesh, and mournfully bury their bones.

 31:1 ¶ Now the Philistines 6430 fought 3898 z8737 against Israel: 3478 and the men y582 x376 of Israel 3478 fled 5127 z8799 from before 6440 x4480 the Philistines, 6430 and fell down 5307 z8799 slain 2491 in mount 2022 Gilboa. 1533

 31:2 And the Philistines 6430 followed hard y1692 z8686 upon x1692 x853 Saul 7586 and upon his sons; 1121 and the Philistines 6430 slew 5221 z8686 x853 Jonathan, 3083 and Abinadab, 41 and Malchishua, 4444 Saul's 7586 sons. 1121

 31:3 And the battle 4421 went sore 3513 z8799 against x413 Saul, 7586 and the archers 3384 z8688 y582 y7198 x376 hit 4672 z8799 him; and he was sore 3966 wounded 2342 z8799 of the archers. 3384 z8688 y582 y7198 x4480

 31:4 Then said 559 z8799 Saul 7586 unto his armourbearer, 5375 3627 z8802 Draw 8025 z8798 thy sword, 2719 and thrust me through 1856 z8798 therewith; lest x6435 these x428 uncircumcised 6189 come 935 z8799 and thrust me through, 1856 z8804 and abuse 5953 z8694 me. But his armourbearer 5375 3627 z8802 would 14 z8804 not; x3808 for x3588 he was sore 3966 afraid. 3372 z8804 Therefore Saul 7586 took 3947 z8799 x853 a sword, 2719 and fell 5307 z8799 upon x5921 it.

 31:5 And when his armourbearer 5375 3627 z8802 saw 7200 z8799 that x3588 Saul 7586 was dead, 4191 z8804 he x1931 fell 5307 z8799 likewise x1571 upon x5921 his sword, 2719 and died 4191 z8799 with x5973 him.

 31:6 So Saul 7586 died, 4191 z8799 and his three 7969 sons, 1121 and his armourbearer, 5375 3627 z8802 and x1571 all x3605 his men, y582 x376 that same x1931 day 3117 together. 3162

 31:7 ¶ And when the men y582 x376 of Israel 3478 that x834 [were] on the other side 5676 of the valley, 6010 and [they] that x834 [were] on the other side 5676 Jordan, 3383 saw 7200 z8799 that x3588 the men y582 x376 of Israel 3478 fled, 5127 z8804 and that x3588 Saul 7586 and his sons 1121 were dead, 4191 z8804 they forsook 5800 z8799 x853 the cities, 5892 and fled; 5127 z8799 and the Philistines 6430 came 935 z8799 and dwelt 3427 z8799 in them. x2004

 31:8 And it came to pass x1961 on the morrow, 4283 x4480 when the Philistines 6430 came 935 z8799 to strip 6584 z8763 x853 the slain, 2491 that they found 4672 z8799 x853 Saul 7586 and his three 7969 sons 1121 fallen 5307 z8802 in mount 2022 Gilboa. 1533

 31:9 And they cut off 3772 z8799 x853 his head, 7218 and stripped off 6584 z8686 x853 his armour, 3627 and sent 7971 z8762 into the land 776 of the Philistines 6430 round about, 5439 to publish 1319 z8763 [it in] the house 1004 of their idols, 6091 and among x854 the people. 5971

 31:10 And they put 7760 z8799 x853 his armour 3627 in the house 1004 of Ashtaroth: 6252 z8677 y1045 and they fastened 8628 z8804 his body 1472 to the wall 2346 of Bethshan. 1052

 31:11 ¶ And when the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of Jabeshgilead 3003 1568 heard 8085 z8799 x413 x853 of that which x834 the Philistines 6430 had done 6213 z8804 to Saul; 7586

 31:12 All x3605 the valiant 2428 men 376 z8677 y381 arose, 6965 z8799 and went y3212 z8799 x1980 all x3605 night, 3915 and took 3947 z8799 x853 the body 1472 of Saul 7586 and the bodies 1472 of his sons 1121 from the wall 2346 x4480 of Bethshan, 1052 and came 935 z8799 to Jabesh, 3003 and burnt 8313 z8799 them there. x8033

 31:13 And they took 3947 z8799 x853 their bones, 6106 and buried 6912 z8799 [them] under x8478 a tree 815 at Jabesh, 3003 and fasted 6684 z8799 seven 7651 days. 3117
