1 Samuel 6

1 After seven months the Philistines take counsel how to send back the Ark. 10 They bring it on a new cart with an offering unto Beth-shemesh. 19 The people are smitten for looking into the Ark. 21 They send to them of Kirjath-Jearim to fetch it.

 6:1 ¶ And the ark 727 of the LORD 3068 was x1961 in the country 7704 of the Philistines 6430 seven 7651 months. 2320

 6:2 And the Philistines 6430 called 7121 z8799 for the priests 3548 and the diviners, 7080 z8802 saying, 559 z8800 What x4100 shall we do 6213 z8799 to the ark 727 of the LORD? 3068 tell 3045 z8685 us wherewith x4100 we shall send 7971 z8762 it to his place. 4725

 6:3 And they said, 559 z8799 If x518 ye send away 7971 z8764 x853 the ark 727 of the God 430 of Israel, 3478 send 7971 z8762 it not x408 empty; 7387 but x3588 in any wise y7725 z8687 return 7725 z8686 him a trespass offering: 817 then x227 ye shall be healed, 7495 z8735 and it shall be known 3045 z8738 to you why x4100 his hand 3027 is not x3808 removed 5493 z8799 from x4480 you.

 6:4 Then said 559 z8799 they, What x4100 [shall be] the trespass offering 817 which x834 we shall return 7725 z8686 to him? They answered, 559 z8799 Five 2568 golden 2091 emerods, 6076 y2914 z8675 and five 2568 golden 2091 mice, 5909 [according to] the number 4557 of the lords 5633 of the Philistines: 6430 for x3588 one 259 plague 4046 [was] on you all, x3605 and on your lords. 5633

 6:5 Wherefore ye shall make 6213 z8804 images 6754 of your emerods, 6076 y2914 z8675 and images 6754 of your mice 5909 that mar 7843 z8688 x853 the land; 776 and ye shall give 5414 z8804 glory 3519 unto the God 430 of Israel: 3478 peradventure x194 he will lighten 7043 z8686 x853 his hand 3027 from off x4480 x5921 you, and from off x4480 x5921 your gods, 430 and from off x4480 x5921 your land. 776

 6:6 Wherefore x4100 then do ye harden 3513 z8762 x853 your hearts, 3824 as x834 the Egyptians 4714 and Pharaoh 6547 hardened 3513 z8765 x853 their hearts? 3820 when x834 he had wrought wonderfully 5953 z8694 among them, did they not x3808 let the people go, 7971 z8762 and they departed? y3212 z8799 x1980

 6:7 Now x6258 therefore make 6213 z8798 a 259 new 2319 cart, 5699 and take 3947 z8798 two 8147 milch 5763 z8802 kine, 6510 on x5921 which x834 there hath come 5927 z8804 no x3808 yoke, 5923 and tie 631 z8804 x853 the kine 6510 to the cart, 5699 and bring 7725 z8689 their calves 1121 home 1004 from x4480 x310 them: y310

 6:8 And take 3947 z8804 x853 the ark 727 of the LORD, 3068 and lay 5414 z8804 it upon x413 the cart; 5699 and put 7760 z8799 the jewels 3627 of gold, 2091 which x834 ye return 7725 z8689 him [for] a trespass offering, 817 in a coffer 712 by the side 6654 x4480 thereof; and send it away, 7971 z8765 x853 that it may go. 1980 z8804

 6:9 And see, 7200 z8804 if x518 it goeth up 5927 z8799 by the way 1870 of his own coast 1366 to Bethshemesh, 1053 [then] he x1931 hath done 6213 z8804 us x853 this x2063 great 1419 evil: 7451 but if x518 not, x3808 then we shall know 3045 z8804 that x3588 [it is] not x3808 his hand 3027 [that] smote 5060 z8804 us: it x1931 [was] a chance 4745 [that] happened x1961 to us. y1961 z8804

 6:10 ¶ And the men y582 x376 did x6213 so; y6213 z8799 x3651 and took 3947 z8799 two 8147 milch 5763 z8802 kine, 6510 and tied 631 z8799 them to the cart, 5699 and shut up 3607 z8804 their calves 1121 at home: 1004

 6:11 And they laid 7760 z8799 x853 the ark 727 of the LORD 3068 upon x413 the cart, 5699 and the coffer 712 with x854 the mice 5909 of gold 2091 and the images 6754 of their emerods. 2914

 6:12 And the kine 6510 took the straight 3474 z8799 way 1870 to x5921 the way 1870 of Bethshemesh, 1053 [and] went along 1980 z8804 the x259 highway, 4546 y259 lowing 1600 z8800 as they went, 1980 z8800 and turned not aside 5493 z8804 x3808 [to] the right hand 3225 or [to] the left; 8040 and the lords 5633 of the Philistines 6430 went 1980 z8802 after 310 them unto x5704 the border 1366 of Bethshemesh. 1053

 6:13 And [they of] Bethshemesh 1053 [were] reaping 7114 z8802 their wheat 2406 harvest 7105 in the valley: 6010 and they lifted up 5375 z8799 x853 their eyes, 5869 and saw 7200 z8799 x853 the ark, 727 and rejoiced 8055 z8799 to see 7200 z8800 [it].

 6:14 And the cart 5699 came 935 z8802 into x413 the field 7704 of Joshua, 3091 a Bethshemite, 1030 and stood 5975 z8799 there, x8033 where x8033 [there was] a great 1419 stone: 68 and they clave 1234 z8762 x853 the wood 6086 of the cart, 5699 and offered 5927 z8689 the kine 6510 a burnt offering 5930 unto the LORD. 3068

 6:15 And the Levites 3881 took down 3381 z8689 x853 the ark 727 of the LORD, 3068 and the coffer 712 that x834 [was] with x854 it, wherein x834 the jewels 3627 of gold 2091 [were], and put 7760 z8799 [them] on x413 the great 1419 stone: 68 and the men y582 x376 of Bethshemesh 1053 offered 5927 z8689 burnt offerings 5930 and sacrificed 2076 z8799 sacrifices 2077 the same x1931 day 3117 unto the LORD. 3068

 6:16 And when the five 2568 lords 5633 of the Philistines 6430 had seen 7200 z8804 [it], they returned 7725 z8799 to Ekron 6138 the same x1931 day. 3117

 6:17 And these x428 [are] the golden 2091 emerods 2914 which x834 the Philistines 6430 returned 7725 z8689 [for] a trespass offering 817 unto the LORD; 3068 for Ashdod 795 one, 259 for Gaza 5804 one, 259 for Askelon 831 one, 259 for Gath 1661 one, 259 for Ekron 6138 one; 259

 6:18 And the golden 2091 mice, 5909 [according to] the number 4557 of all x3605 the cities 5892 of the Philistines 6430 [belonging] to the five 2568 lords, 5633 [both] of fenced y4013 cities, 5892 x4480 x4013 and of x5704 country 6521 villages, 3724 even unto x5704 the great 1419 [stone of] Abel, 59 whereon x834 x5921 they set down y3240 z8689 x5117 x853 the ark 727 of the LORD: 3068 [which stone remaineth] unto x5704 this x2088 day 3117 in the field 7704 of Joshua, 3091 the Bethshemite. 1030

 6:19 ¶ And he smote 5221 z8686 the men 376 of Bethshemesh, 1053 because x3588 they had looked 7200 z8804 into the ark 727 of the LORD, 3068 even he smote 5221 z8686 of the people 5971 fifty 2572 thousand 505 and threescore and ten 7657 men: y582 x376 and the people 5971 lamented, 56 z8691 because x3588 the LORD 3068 had smitten 5221 z8689 [many] of the people 5971 with a great 1419 slaughter. 4347

 6:20 And the men y582 x376 of Bethshemesh 1053 said, 559 z8799 Who x4310 is able 3201 z8799 to stand 5975 z8800 before 6440 this x2088 holy 6918 LORD 3068 God? 430 and to x413 whom x4310 shall he go up 5927 z8799 from x4480 x5921 us?

 6:21 ¶ And they sent 7971 z8799 messengers 4397 to x413 the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of Kirjathjearim, 7157 saying, 559 z8800 The Philistines 6430 have brought again 7725 z8689 x853 the ark 727 of the LORD; 3068 come ye down, 3381 z8798 [and] fetch it up 5927 z8685 x853 to x413 you.
