1 Kings 3

1 Solomon marrieth Pharaoh's daughter. 2 High places being in use, Solomon sacrificeth at Gibeon. 5 Solomon at Gibeon, in the choice which God gave him, preferring wisdom, obtaineth wisdom, riches and honour. 16 Solomon's judgment between the two harlots maketh him renowned.

 3:1 ¶ And Solomon 8010 made affinitie 2859 z8691 with x854 Pharaoh 6547 king 4428 of Egypt, 4714 and tooke 3947 z8799 x853 Pharaohs 6547 daughter, 1323 and brought 935 z8686 her into x413 the citie 5892 of Dauid, 1732 vntill x5704 he had made an end 3615 z8763 of building 1129 z8800 x853 his owne house, 1004 and the house 1004 of the LORD, 3068 and the wall 2346 of Ierusalem 3389 round about. 5439

 3:2 Only x7535 the people 5971 sacrificed 2076 z8764 in high places, 1116 because x3588 there was no x3808 house 1004 built 1129 z8738 vnto the Name 8034 of the LORD 3068 vntill x5704 those x1992 dayes. 3117

 3:3 And Solomon 8010 loued 157 z8799 x853 the LORD, 3068 walking y3212 z8800 x1980 in the statutes 2708 of Dauid 1732 his father: 1 onely x7535 he x1931 sacrificed 2076 z8764 and burnt incense 6999 z8688 in high places. 1116

 3:4 And the king 4428 went y3212 z8799 x1980 to Gibeon 1391 to sacrifice 2076 z8800 there; x8033 for x3588 that 1931 was the great 1419 high place: 1116 a thousand 505 burnt offerings 5930 did Solomon 8010 offer 5927 z8686 vp on x5921 that x1931 Altar. 4196

 3:5 ¶ In Gibeon 1391 the LORD 3068 appeared 7200 z8738 to x413 Solomon 8010 in a dreame 2472 by night: 3915 and God 430 sayd, 559 z8799 Aske 7592 z8798 what x4100 I shall giue 5414 z8799 thee.

 3:6 And Solomon 8010 said, 559 z8799 Thou x859 hast shewed 6213 z8804 vnto x5973 thy seruant 5650 Dauid 1732 my father 1 great 1419 mercy, 2617 according as x834 he walked 1980 z8804 before 6440 thee in trueth, 571 and in righteousnesse, 6666 and in vprightnesse 3483 of heart 3824 with x5973 thee, and thou hast kept 8104 z8799 for him x853 this x2088 great 1419 kindnesse, 2617 that thou hast giuen 5414 z8799 him a sonne 1121 to sit 3427 z8802 on x5921 his throne, 3678 as [it is] this x2088 day. 3117

 3:7 And now, x6258 O LORD 3068 my God, 430 thou x859 hast made x853 thy seruant 5650 King 4427 z8689 in stead x8478 of Dauid 1732 my father: 1 and I x595 am but a litle 6996 childe: 5288 I know 3045 z8799 not x3808 how to goe out 3318 z8800 or come in. 935 z8800

 3:8 And thy seruant 5650 [is] in the midst 8432 of thy people 5971 which x834 thou hast chosen, 977 z8804 a great 7227 people, 5971 that x834 cannot x3808 be numbred, 4487 z8735 nor x3808 counted 5608 z8735 for multitude. 7230 x4480

 3:9 Giue 5414 z8804 therefore thy seruant 5650 an understanding 8085 z8802 heart, 3820 to iudge 8199 z8800 x853 thy people, 5971 that I may discerne 995 z8687 betweene x996 good 2896 and bad: 7451 for x3588 who x4310 is able 3201 z8799 to iudge 8199 z8800 this x2088 thy so great 3515 x853 a people? 5971

 3:10 And the speach 1697 pleased 3190 5869 z8799 the Lord, 136 that x3588 Solomon 8010 had asked 7592 z8804 x853 this x2088 thing. 1697

 3:11 And God 430 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 him, Because x3282 x834 thou hast asked 7592 z8804 x853 this x2088 thing, 1697 and hast not x3808 asked 7592 z8804 for thy selfe long 7227 life, 3117 neither x3808 hast asked 7592 z8804 riches 6239 for thy selfe, nor x3808 hast asked 7592 z8804 the life 5315 of thine enemies, 341 z8802 but hast asked 7592 z8804 for thy selfe vnderstanding 995 z8687 to discerne 8085 z8800 iudgement; 4941

 3:12 Behold, x2009 I haue done 6213 z8804 according to thy word: 1697 loe, x2009 I haue giuen 5414 z8804 thee a wise 2450 and an vnderstanding 995 z8737 heart, 3820 so that x834 there was x1961 none x3808 like thee x3644 before 6440 thee, neither x3808 after 310 thee shall any arise 6965 z8799 like vnto thee. x3644

 3:13 And I haue also x1571 giuen 5414 z8804 thee that which x834 thou hast not x3808 asked, 7592 z8804 both x1571 riches, 6239 and x1571 honour: 3519 so that x834 there shall not x3808 be x1961 any 376 among the Kings 4428 like vnto thee, x3644 all x3605 thy dayes. 3117

 3:14 And if x518 thou wilt walke y3212 z8799 x1980 in my wayes, 1870 to keepe 8104 z8800 my Statutes 2706 and my Commandements, 4687 as x834 thy father 1 Dauid 1732 did walke, 1980 z8804 then I will lengthen 748 z8689 x853 thy dayes. 3117

 3:15 And Solomon 8010 awoke, 3364 z8799 and behold, x2009 [it was] a dreame: 2472 and he came 935 z8799 to Ierusalem, 3389 and stood 5975 z8799 before 6440 the Arke 727 of the Couenant 1285 of the LORD, y3068 x136 and offered vp 5927 z8686 burnt offerings, 5930 and offered 6213 z8799 peace offerings, 8002 and made 6213 z8799 a feast 4960 to all x3605 his seruants. 5650

 3:16 ¶ Then x227 came 935 z8799 there two 8147 women 802 that were harlots, 2181 z8802 vnto x413 the king, 4428 and stood 5975 z8799 before 6440 him.

 3:17 And the one 259 woman 802 said, 559 z8799 O 994 my lord, 113 I x589 and this x2063 woman 802 dwell 3427 z8802 in one 259 house, 1004 and I was deliuered of a childe, 3205 z8799 with x5973 her in the house. 1004

 3:18 And it came to passe x1961 the third 7992 day 3117 after that I was deliuered, 3205 z8800 that this x2063 woman 802 was deliuered 3205 z8799 also: x1571 and wee x587 [were] together; 3162 there [was] no x369 stranger 2114 z8801 with x854 vs in the house, 1004 saue 2108 we x587 two 8147 in the house. 1004

 3:19 And this x2063 womans 802 childe 1121 died 4191 z8799 in the night: 3915 because x834 she ouerlaid 7901 z8804 x5921 it.

 3:20 And shee arose 6965 z8799 at midnight, 8432 3915 and tooke 3947 z8799 x853 my sonne 1121 from beside 681 x4480 me, while thine handmaid 519 slept, 3463 and layd 7901 z8686 it in her bosome, 2436 and layd 7901 z8689 her dead 4191 z8801 childe 1121 in my bosome. 2436

 3:21 And when I rose 6965 z8799 in the morning 1242 to giue my childe y1121 sucke, y3243 z8687 x3242 x853 x1121 behold, x2009 it was dead: 4191 z8804 but when I had considered 995 z8709 x413 it in the morning, 1242 beholde, x2009 it was x1961 not x3808 my sonne, 1121 which x834 I did beare. 3205 z8804

 3:22 And the other 312 woman 802 said, 559 z8799 Nay, x3808 but x3588 the liuing 2416 [is] my sonne, 1121 and the dead 4191 z8801 [is] thy sonne: 1121 And this x2063 said, 559 z8802 No, x3808 but x3588 the dead 4191 z8801 is thy sonne, 1121 and the liuing 2416 is my sonne. 1121 Thus they spake 1696 z8762 before 6440 the king. 4428

 3:23 Then said 559 z8799 the King, 4428 The one 2063 saith, 559 z8802 This x2088 [is] my sonne, 1121 that liueth, 2416 and thy sonne 1121 [is] the dead: 4191 z8801 and the other 2063 saith 559 z8802 Nay: x3808 but x3588 thy sonne 1121 is the dead, 4191 z8801 and my sonne 1121 [is] the liuing. 2416

 3:24 And the King 4428 said, 559 z8799 Bring 3947 z8798 mee a sword. 2719 And they brought 935 z8686 a sword 2719 before 6440 the king: 4428

 3:25 And the king 4428 said, 559 z8799 Diuide 1504 z8798 x853 the liuing 2416 childe 3206 in two, 8147 and giue 5414 z8798 x853 halfe 2677 to the one, 259 and halfe 2677 to the other. 259

 3:26 Then spake 559 z8799 the woman 802 whose x834 the liuing 2416 childe 1121 [was], vnto x413 the king, 4428 (for x3588 her bowels 7356 yerned 3648 z8738 vpon x5921 her sonne) 1121 and she said, 559 z8799 O 994 my lord, 113 giue 5414 z8798 her x853 the liuing 2416 childe, 3205 z8803 and in no x408 wise y4191 z8687 slay 4191 z8686 it: But the other x2063 said, 559 z8802 Let it be x1961 neither x1571 x3808 mine nor x1571 thine, but diuide 1504 z8798 [it].

 3:27 Then the King 4428 answered 6030 z8799 and said, 559 z8799 Giue 5414 z8798 her x853 the liuing 2416 child, 3205 z8803 and in no x3808 wise y4191 z8687 slay 4191 z8686 it: she x1931 [is] the mother 517 thereof.

 3:28 And all x3605 Israel 3478 heard 8085 z8799 of x853 the Iudgement 4941 which x834 the king 4428 had iudged, 8199 z8804 and they feared 3372 z8799 x4480 x6440 the King: y6440 x4428 for x3588 they saw 7200 z8804 that x3588 the wisedome 2451 of God 430 [was] in him, 7130 to doe 6213 z8800 Iudgement. 4941
