1 Kings 1

1 Abishag cherisheth David in his extreme age. 5 Adonijah, David's darling, usurpeth the kingdom. 11 By the counsel of Nathan, 15 Bath-sheba moveth the king, 22 and Nathan secondeth her. 28 David reneweth his oath to Bath-sheba. 32 Solomon, by David's appointment, being anointed king by Zadok and Nathan, the people triumph. 41 Jonathan bringing these news, Adonijah's guests flee. 50 Adonijah, fleeing to the horns of the altar, upon his good behaviour is dismissed by Solomon.

 1:1 ¶ Now King 4428 Dauid 1732 was olde, 2204 z8804 [and] striken 935 z8804 in yeeres, 3117 and they couered 3680 z8762 him with clothes, 899 but hee gate no heate. 3179 z8799 x3808

 1:2 Wherefore his seruants 5650 said 559 z8799 vnto him, Let there be sought 1245 z8762 for my lord 113 the king 4428 a yong 5291 virgin, 1330 and let her stand 5975 z8804 before 6440 the King, 4428 and let her cherish 5532 z8802 him, and let her lie 7901 z8804 in thy bosome, 2436 that my lord 113 the King 4428 may get heate. 2552 z8804

 1:3 So they sought 1245 z8762 for a faire 3303 damosel 5291 throughout all x3605 the coasts 1366 of Israel, 3478 and found 4672 z8799 x853 Abishag 49 a Shunammite, 7767 and brought 935 z8686 her to the King. 4428

 1:4 And the damosell 5291 was very 3966 x5704 faire, 3303 and cherished 5532 z8802 the king, 4428 and ministred 8334 z8762 to him: but the king 4428 knew 3045 z8804 her not. x3808

 1:5 ¶ Then Adoniiah 138 the sonne 1121 of Haggith 2294 exalted y4984 z8693 himselfe, x4984 saying, 559 z8800 I x589 wil be king: 4427 z8799 And he prepared 6213 z8799 him charets 7393 and horesemen, 6571 and fiftie 2572 men 376 to runne 7323 z8801 before 6440 him.

 1:6 And his father 1 had not x3808 displeased 6087 z8804 him at any time, 3117 x4480 in saying, 559 z8800 Why x4069 hast thou done x6213 so? y6213 z8804 x3602 And hee x1931 also x1571 [was] a very 3966 goodly 2896 8389 man, and [his mother] bare 3205 z8804 him after 310 Absalom. 53

 1:7 And hee conferred 1697 with x5973 Ioab 3097 the sonne 1121 of Zeruiah, 6870 and with x5973 Abiathar 54 the Priest: 3548 and they following 310 Adoniiah, 138 helped 5826 z8799 [him].

 1:8 But Zadok 6659 the Priest, 3548 and Benaiah 1141 the sonne 1121 of Iehoiada, 3077 and Nathan 5416 the Prophet, 5030 and Shimei, 8096 and Rei, 7472 and the mightie men 1368 which x834 [belonged] to Dauid, 1732 were x1961 not x3808 with x5973 Adoniiah. 138

 1:9 And Adoniiah 138 slew 2076 z8799 sheepe, 6629 and oxen, 1241 and fat cattell, 4806 by x5973 the stone 68 of Zoheleth, 2120 which x834 [is] by 681 En-Rogel, 5883 and called 7121 z8799 x853 all x3605 his brethren 251 the kings 4428 sonnes, 1121 and all x3605 the men y582 x376 of Iudah 3063 the kings 4428 seruants. 5650

 1:10 But Nathan 5416 the Prophet, 5030 and Benaiah, 1141 and the mightie men, 1368 and Solomon 8010 his brother 251 he called 7121 z8804 not. x3808

 1:11 ¶ Wherefore Nathan 5416 spake 559 z8799 vnto x413 Bath-sheba 1339 the mother 517 of Solomon, 8010 saying, 559 z8800 Hast thou not x3808 heard 8085 z8804 that x3588 Adoniiah 138 the son 1121 of Haggith 2294 doth reigne, 4427 z8804 and Dauid 1732 our lord 113 knoweth 3045 z8804 [it] not? x3808

 1:12 Now x6258 therefore come, y3212 z8798 x1980 let mee, I pray thee, x4994 giue x3289 thee counsell, 6098 y3289 z8799 that thou mayest saue 4422 z8761 x853 thine owne life, 5315 and the life 5315 of thy sonne 1121 Solomon. 8010

 1:13 Goe, y3212 z8798 x1980 and get thee in 935 z8798 vnto x413 King 4428 Dauid, 1732 and say 559 z8804 vnto x413 him, Diddest not x3808 thou, x859 my lord, 113 O king, 4428 sweare 7650 z8738 vnto thine handmaid, 519 saying, 559 z8800 Assuredly 3588 Solomon 8010 thy sonne 1121 shall reigne 4427 z8799 after 310 mee, and he x1931 shall sit 3427 z8799 vpon x5921 my throne? 3678 why x4069 then doth Adoniiah 138 reigne? 4427 z8804

 1:14 Beholde, x2009 while thou yet x5750 talkest 1696 z8764 there x8033 with x5973 the king, 4428 I x589 also will come in 935 z8799 after 310 thee, and confirme 4390 z8765 x853 thy words. 1697

 1:15 ¶ And Bath-sheba 1339 went in 935 z8799 vnto x413 the King 4428 into the chamber: 2315 and the king 4428 was very 3966 olde, 2204 z8804 and Abishag 49 the Shunammite 7767 ministred y8334 z8764 vnto x8334 x853 the king. 4428

 1:16 And Bathsheba 1339 bowed, 6915 z8799 and did obeysance 7812 z8691 vnto the king: 4428 and the king 4428 said, 559 z8799 What x4100 wouldest thou?

 1:17 And she said 559 z8799 vnto him, My lord, 113 thou x859 swarest 7650 z8738 by the LORD 3068 thy God 430 vnto thine handmaid, 519 [saying], Assuredly x3588 Solomon 8010 thy sonne 1121 shall reigne 4427 z8799 after 310 me, and he x1931 shall sit 3427 z8799 vpon x5921 my throne: 3678

 1:18 And now x6258 behold, x2009 Adoniiah 138 reigneth; 4427 z8804 and now x6258 my lord 113 the king, 4428 thou knowest 3045 z8804 [it] not. x3808

 1:19 And he hath slaine 2076 z8799 oxen, 7794 and fat cattell, 4806 and sheepe 6629 in abundance, 7230 and hath called 7121 z8799 all x3605 the sonnes 1121 of the king, 4428 and Abiathar 54 the Priest, 3548 and Ioab 3097 the captaine 8269 of the hoste: 6635 but Solomon 8010 thy seruant 5650 hath he not x3808 called. 7121 z8804

 1:20 And thou, x859 my lord 113 O king, 4428 the eyes 5869 of all x3605 Israel 3478 [are] vpon x5921 thee, that thou shouldest tell 5046 z8687 them who x4310 shall sit 3427 z8799 on x5921 the throne 3678 of my lord 113 the king 4428 after 310 him.

 1:21 Otherwise it shall come to passe, x1961 when my lord 113 the king 4428 shal sleepe 7901 z8800 with x5973 his fathers, 1 that I x589 and my sonne 1121 Solomon 8010 shall be counted x1961 offenders. 2400

 1:22 ¶ And loe, x2009 while shee yet x5750 talked 1696 z8764 with x5973 the king, 4428 Nathan 5416 the Prophet 5030 also came in. 935 z8804

 1:23 And they tolde 5046 z8686 the king, 4428 saying, 559 z8800 Beholde x2009 Nathan 5416 the Prophet. 5030 And when hee was come in 935 z8799 before 6440 the king, 4428 he bowed y7812 z8691 himselfe x7812 before the king 4428 with x5921 his face 639 to the ground. 776

 1:24 And Nathan 5416 said, 559 z8799 My lord 113 O king, 4428 hast thou x859 said, 559 z8804 Adoniiah 138 shall reigne 4427 z8799 after 310 mee, and hee x1931 shall sit 3427 z8799 vpon x5921 my throne? 3678

 1:25 For x3588 hee is gone downe 3381 z8804 this day, 3117 and hath slaine 2076 z8799 oxen, 7794 and fat cattel, 4806 and sheepe 6629 in abundance, 7230 and hath called 7121 z8799 all x3605 the kings 4428 sonnes, 1121 and the captaines 8269 of the host, 6635 and Abiathar 54 the Priest: 3548 and behold, x2009 they eate 398 z8802 and drinke 8354 z8802 before 6440 him, and say, 559 z8799 God saue 2421 z8799 king 4428 Adoniiah. 138

 1:26 But me, [euen] me x589 thy seruant, 5650 and Zadok 6659 the Priest, 3548 and Benaiah 1141 the sonne 1121 of Iehoiada, 3077 and thy seruant 5650 Solomon 8010 hath he not x3808 called. 7121 z8804

 1:27 Is this x2088 thing 1697 done 1961 z8738 by x4480 x854 my lord 113 the king, 4428 and thou hast not x3808 shewed y3045 z8689 it vnto x3045 x853 thy seruant, 5650 who x4310 should sit 3427 z8799 on x5921 the throne 3678 of my lord 113 the king, 4428 after 310 him?

 1:28 ¶ Then king 4428 Dauid 1732 answered, 6030 z8799 and said, 559 z8799 Call 7121 z8798 me Bathsheba. 1339 And she came y935 z8799 into x935 the kings 4428 presence, 6440 and stood 5975 z8799 before 6440 the king. 4428

 1:29 And the king 4428 sware, 7650 z8735 and said, 559 z8799 As the LORD 3068 liueth, 2416 that x834 hath redeemed 6299 z8804 x853 my soule 5315 out of all x4480 x3605 distresse, 6869

 1:30 Euen x3588 as x834 I sware 7650 z8738 vnto thee by the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel, 3478 saying, 559 z8800 Assuredly x3588 Solomon 8010 thy sonne 1121 shall reigne 4427 z8799 after 310 me, and he x1931 shal sit 3427 z8799 vpon x5921 my throne 3678 in my stead; x8478 euen x3588 so x3651 wil I certainly doe 6213 z8799 this x2088 day. 3117

 1:31 Then Bathsheba 1339 bowed 6915 z8799 with [her] face 639 to the earth, 776 and did reuerence 7812 z8691 to the king, 4428 and said, 559 z8799 Let my lord 113 king 4428 Dauid 1732 liue 2421 z8799 for euer. 5769

 1:32 ¶ And king 4428 Dauid 1732 said, 559 z8799 Call 7121 z8798 me Zadok 6659 the Priest, 3548 and Nathan 5416 the Prophet, 5030 and Benaiah 1141 the sonne 1121 of Iehoiada. 3077 And they came 935 z8799 before 6440 the king. 4428

 1:33 The king 4428 also saide 559 z8799 vnto them, Take 3947 z8798 with x5973 you x853 the seruants 5650 of your lord, 113 and cause x853 Solomon 8010 my sonne 1121 to ride 7392 z8689 vpon x5921 mine owne mule, 6506 and bring him downe 3381 z8689 x853 to x413 Gihon. 1521

 1:34 And let Zadok 6659 the Priest, 3548 and Nathan 5416 the Prophet, 5030 anoint 4886 z8804 him there x8033 King 4428 ouer x5921 Israel: 3478 and blow 8628 z8804 ye with the trumpet, 7782 and say, 559 z8804 God saue 2421 z8799 King 4428 Solomon. 8010

 1:35 Then ye shall come vp 5927 z8804 after 310 him, that hee may come 935 z8804 and sit 3427 z8804 vpon x5921 my throne; 3678 for he x1931 shall be king 4427 z8799 in my stead: x8478 and I haue appointed 6680 z8765 him to be x1961 ruler 5057 ouer x5921 Israel, 3478 and ouer x5921 Iudah. 3063

 1:36 And Benaiah 1141 the sonne 1121 of Iehoiada 3077 answered 6030 z8799 x853 the King, 4428 and said, 559 z8799 Amen: 543 The LORD 3068 God 430 of my lord 113 the king 4428 say 559 z8799 so x3651 [too].

 1:37 As x834 the LORD 3068 hath bene x1961 with x5973 my lord 113 the King, 4428 euen so x3651 be x1961 he with x5973 Solomon, 8010 and make y1431 z0 his throne y3678 greater 1431 z8762 x853 x3678 then the throne 3678 x4480 of my lord 113 King 4428 Dauid. 1732

 1:38 So Zadok 6659 the Priest, 3548 and Nathan 5416 the Prophet, 5030 and Benaiah 1141 the sonne 1121 of Iehoiada, 3077 and the Cherethites, 3774 and the Pelethites 6432 went downe, 3381 z8799 and caused x853 Solomon 8010 to ride 7392 z8686 vpon x5921 King 4428 Dauids 1732 mule, 6506 and brought y3212 z8686 x1980 him to x5921 Gihon. 1521

 1:39 And Zadok 6659 the Priest 3548 tooke 3947 z8799 x853 an horne 7161 of oile 8081 out of x4480 the Tabernacle, 168 and anointed 4886 z8799 x853 Solomon: 8010 and they blew 8628 z8799 the trumpet, 7782 and all x3605 the people 5971 said, 559 z8799 God saue 2421 z8799 King 4428 Solomon. 8010

 1:40 And all x3605 the people 5971 came vp 5927 z8799 after 310 him, and the people 5971 piped 2490 z8764 with pipes, 2485 and reioyced 8056 with great 1419 ioy, 8057 so that the earth 776 rent 1234 z8735 with the sound 6963 of them.

 1:41 ¶ And Adoniiah 138 and all x3605 the ghests 7121 z8803 that x834 [were] with x854 him, heard 8085 z8799 it as they x1992 had made an end 3615 z8765 of eating: 398 z8800 and when Ioab 3097 heard 8085 z8799 x853 the sound 6963 of the trumpet, 7782 hee said, 559 z8799 Wherefore x4069 [is] this noise 6963 of the citie, 7151 being in an vproare? 1993 z8802

 1:42 And while hee yet x5750 spake, 1696 z8764 behold, x2009 Ionathan 3129 the sonne 1121 of Abiathar 54 the Priest 3548 came, 935 z8804 and Adoniiah 138 sayde 559 z8799 vnto him, Come in, 935 z8798 for x3588 thou x859 art a valiant 2428 man, 376 z8676 y381 and bringest y1319 z0 good y2896 tidings. 1319 z8762 x2896

 1:43 And Ionathan 3129 answered, 6030 z8799 and said 559 z8799 to Adoniiah, 138 Uerily 61 our lorde 113 king 4428 Dauid 1732 hath made Solomon y8010 king. 4427 z8689 x853 x8010

 1:44 And the king 4428 hath sent 7971 z8799 with x854 him x853 Zadok 6659 the Priest, 3548 and Nathan 5416 the Prophet, 5030 and Benaiah 1141 the sonne 1121 of Iehoiada, 3077 and the Cherethites, 3774 and the Pelethites, 6432 and they haue caused him to ride 7392 z8686 x853 vpon x5921 the kings 4428 mule. 6506

 1:45 And Zadok 6659 the Priest, 3548 and Nathan 5416 the Prophet 5030 haue anointed 4886 z8799 him king 4428 in Gihon: 1521 and they are come vp 5927 z8799 from thence x4480 x8033 reioycing, 8056 so that the citie 7151 rang x1949 againe: y1949 z8735 this x1931 is the noyse 6963 that x834 yee haue heard. 8085 z8804

 1:46 And also x1571 Solomon 8010 sitteth 3427 z8804 on x5921 the throne 3678 of the kingdome. 4410

 1:47 And moreouer, x1571 the kings 4428 seruants 5650 came 935 z8804 to blesse 1288 z8763 x853 our lorde 113 king 4428 Dauid, 1732 saying, 559 z8800 God 430 make x853 the name 8034 of Solomon 8010 better 3190 z8686 then thy name, 8034 x4480 and make y1431 z0 x853 his throne 3678 greater 1431 z8762 then thy throne. 3678 x4480 And the king 4428 bowed y7812 z8691 himselfe x7812 vpon x5921 the bed. 4904

 1:48 And also x1571 thus x3602 sayde 559 z8804 the King, 4428 Blessed 1288 z8803 [be] the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel, 3478 which x834 hath giuen 5414 z8804 [one] to sit 3427 z8802 on x5921 my throne 3678 this day, 3117 mine eyes 5869 euen seeing 7200 z8802 [it].

 1:49 And all x3605 the guests 7121 z8803 that x834 were with Adoniiah, 138 were afraid, 2729 z8799 and rose vp, 6965 z8799 and went y3212 z8799 x1980 euery man 376 his way. 1870

 1:50 ¶ And Adoniiah 138 feared 3372 z8804 because 6440 x4480 of Solomon, 8010 and arose, 6965 z8799 and went, y3212 z8799 x1980 and caught hold 2388 z8686 on the hornes 7161 of the Altar. 4196

 1:51 And it was tolde 5046 z8714 Solomon, 8010 saying, 559 z8800 Behold, x2009 Adoniiah 138 feareth 3372 z8804 x853 King 4428 Solomon: 8010 for loe, x2009 he hath caught hold 270 z8804 on the hornes 7161 of the Altar, 4196 saying, 559 z8800 Let King 4428 Solomon 8010 sweare 7650 z8735 vnto mee to day, 3117 that hee will not x518 slay 4191 z8686 x853 his seruant 5650 with the sword. 2719

 1:52 And Solomon 8010 sayd, 559 z8799 If x518 hee will shewe x1961 himselfe a worthy 2428 man, 1121 there shall not x3808 an haire y8185 of x4480 x8183 him fall 5307 z8799 to the earth: 776 but if x518 wickednesse 7451 shall be found 4672 z8735 in him, he shall die. 4191 z8804

 1:53 So king 4428 Solomon 8010 sent, 7971 z8799 and they brought him downe 3381 z8686 from x4480 x5921 the Altar, 4196 and hee came 935 z8799 and bowed y7812 z8691 himselfe x7812 to king 4428 Solomou: 8010 and Solomon 8010 sayde 559 z8799 vnto him, Goe y3212 z8798 x1980 to thine house. 1004
