1 David, having given a charge to Solomon, 3 of religiousness, 5 of Joab, 7 of Barzillai, 8 of Shimei, 10 dieth. 12 Solomon succeedeth. 13 Adonijah, moving Bath-sheba to sue unto Solomon for Abishag, is put to death. 26 Abiathar, having his life given to him, is deprived of the priesthood. 28 Joab fleeing to the horns of the altar is there slain. 35 Benaiah is put in Joab's room, and Zadok in Abiathar's. 36 Shimei, confined to Jerusalem, by occasion of going thence to Gath, is put to death.

 2:1 ¶ Now the dayes 3117 of Dauid 1732 drew nigh, 7126 z8799 that he should die, 4191 z8800 and he charged 6680 z8762 x853 Solomon 8010 his sonne, 1121 saying; 559 z8800

 2:2 I x595 goe 1980 z8802 the way 1870 of all x3605 the earth: 776 be thou strong 2388 z8804 therefore, and shew x1961 thy selfe a man. 376

 2:3 And keepe 8104 z8804 x853 the charge 4931 of the LORD 3068 thy God, 430 to walke y3212 z8800 x1980 in his wayes, 1870 to keepe 8104 z8800 his Statutes, 2708 [and] his Commandements, 4687 & his Iudgements, 4941 and his Testimonies, 5715 as it is written 3789 z8803 in x853 the Law 8451 of Moses, 4872 that x4616 thou mayest prosper 7919 z8686 in all x3605 that x834 thou doest, 6213 z8799 and whithersoeuer x3605 x834 x8033 thou turnest 6437 z8799 thy selfe:

 2:4 That x4616 the LORD 3068 may continue 6965 z8686 x853 his word 1697 which x834 hee spake 1696 z8765 concerning x5921 me, saying, 559 z8800 If x518 thy children 1121 take heede 8104 z8799 to x853 their way, 1870 to walke y3212 z8800 x1980 before 6440 mee in trueth, 571 with all x3605 their heart, 3824 and with all x3605 their soule, 5315 there shall not x3808 faile 3772 z8735 thee (sayd 559 z8800 hee) a man 376 on x4480 x5921 the throne 3678 of Israel. 3478

 2:5 Moreouer x1571 thou x859 knowest 3045 z8804 also x853 what x834 Ioab 3097 the sonne 1121 of Zeruiah 6870 did 6213 z8804 to mee, [and] what x834 he did 6213 z8804 to the two 8147 captaines 8269 of the hostes 6635 of Israel, 3478 vnto Abner 74 the sonne 1121 of Ner, 5369 and vnto Amasa 6021 the sonne 1121 of Iether, 3500 whom hee slewe, 2026 z8799 and shed 7760 z8799 the blood 1818 of warre 4421 in peace, 7965 and put 5414 z8799 the blood 1818 of warre 4421 vpon his girdle 2290 that x834 [was] about his loynes, 4975 and in his shooes 5275 that x834 [were] on his feet. 7272

 2:6 Doe 6213 z8804 therefore according to thy wisedome, 2451 and let not x3808 his hoare head 7872 goe downe 3381 z8686 to the graue 7585 in peace. 7965

 2:7 But shewe 6213 z8799 kindnesse 2617 vnto the sonnes 1121 of Barzillai 1271 the Gileadite, 1569 and let them be x1961 of those that eate 398 z8802 at thy table: 7979 for x3588 so x3651 they came 7126 z8804 to x413 me when I fled 1272 z8800 because 6440 x4480 of Absalom 53 thy brother. 251

 2:8 And behold, x2009 thou [hast] with x5973 thee Shimei 8096 the sonne 1121 of Gera, 1617 a Beniamite 1145 of Bahurim, 980 x4480 which x1931 cursed 7043 z8765 mee with a grieuous 4834 z8737 curse, 7045 in the day 3117 when I went y3212 z8800 x1980 to Mahanaim: 4266 but hee x1931 came downe 3381 z8804 to meete 7125 z8800 me at Iordane, 3383 and I sware 7650 z8735 to him by the LORD, 3068 saying, 559 z8800 I will not x518 put thee to death 4191 z8686 with the sword. 2719

 2:9 Nowe x6258 therefore holde him not guiltlesse: 5352 z8762 x408 for x3588 thou x859 [art] a wise 2450 man, 376 and knowest 3045 z8804 x853 what x834 thou oughtest to doe 6213 z8799 vnto him, but his x853 hoare head 7872 bring thou downe 3381 z8689 to the graue 7585 with blood. 1818

 2:10 So Dauid 1732 slept 7901 z8799 with x5973 his fathers, 1 and was buried 6912 z8735 in the citie 5892 of Dauid. 1732

 2:11 And the dayes 3117 that x834 Dauid 1732 raigned 4427 z8804 ouer x5921 Israel, 3478 [were] fourty 705 yeeres: 8141 seuen 7651 yeeres 8141 raigned 4427 z8804 hee in Hebron, 2275 and thirty 7970 and three 7969 yeeres 8141 raigned 4427 z8804 hee in Ierusalem. 3389

 2:12 ¶ Then sate 3427 z8804 Solomon 8010 vpon x5921 the throne 3678 of Dauid 1732 his father, 1 and his kingdome 4438 was established 3559 z8735 greatly. 3966

 2:13 ¶ And Adoniiah 138 the sonne 1121 of Haggith 2294 came 935 z8799 to x413 Bathsheba 1339 the mother 517 of Solomon, 8010 and she said, 559 z8799 Commest 935 z8800 thou peaceably? 7965 And he said, 559 z8799 Peaceably. 7965

 2:14 He said 559 z8799 moreouer, I haue somewhat to say 1697 vnto x413 thee. And she saide, 559 z8799 Say on. 1696 z8761

 2:15 And he said, 559 z8799 Thou x859 knowest 3045 z8804 that x3588 the kingdome 4410 was x1961 mine, and that all x3605 Israel 3478 set 7760 z8804 their faces 6440 on x5921 me, that I should raigne: 4427 z8800 howbeit the kingdome 4410 is turned about, 5437 z8735 and is become x1961 my brothers: 251 for x3588 it was x1961 his from the LORD. 3068 x4480

 2:16 And now x6258 I x595 aske 7592 z8802 one 259 petition 7596 of x4480 x854 thee, deny 7725 z8686 x853 x6440 me y6440 not. x408 And she saide 559 z8799 vnto x413 him, Say on. 1696 z8761

 2:17 And hee saide, 559 z8799 Speake, 559 z8798 I pray thee, x4994 vnto Solomon 8010 the king 4428 (for x3588 hee will not x3808 say y7725 z0 thee y6440 nay) 7725 z8686 x853 x6440 that he giue 5414 z8799 me x853 Abishag 49 the Shunammite 7767 to wife. 802

 2:18 And Bathsheba 1339 said, 559 z8799 Wel, 2896 I x595 will speake 1696 z8762 for x5921 thee vnto x413 the king. 4428

 2:19 ¶ Bathsheba 1339 therefore went 935 z8799 vnto x413 king 4428 Solomon, 8010 to speake 1696 z8763 vnto him for x5921 Adoniiah: 138 and the king 4428 rose vp 6965 z8799 to meete y7125 z8800 x7122 her, and bowed y7812 z8691 himselfe x7812 vnto her, and sate downe 3427 z8799 on x5921 his throne, 3678 and caused a seate 3678 to bee set 7760 z8799 for the Kings 4428 mother, 517 and she sate 3427 z8799 on his right hand. 3225

 2:20 Then she said, 559 z8799 I x595 desire 7592 z8802 one 259 small 6996 petition 7596 of x4480 thee, I pray thee say y7725 z0 me y6440 not nay: 7725 z8686 x408 x853 x6440 and the King 4428 said 559 z8799 vnto her, Aske on, 7592 z8798 my mother, 517 for x3588 I will not x3808 say y7725 z0 thee y6440 nay. 7725 z8686 x853 x6440

 2:21 And she saide, 559 z8799 Let x853 Abishag 49 the Shunammite 7767 be giuen 5414 z8714 to Adoniiah 138 thy brother 251 to wife. 802

 2:22 And king 4428 Solomon 8010 answered, 6030 z8799 and said 559 z8799 vnto his mother, 517 And why x4100 doest thou x859 aske 7592 z8802 x853 Abishag 49 the Shunammite 7767 for Adoniiah? 138 Aske 7592 z8798 for him x853 the kingdome 4410 also (for x3588 he x1931 [is] mine x4480 elder 1419 brother) 251 euen for him, and for Abiathar 54 the Priest, 3548 & for Ioab 3097 the sonne 1121 of Zeruiah. 6870

 2:23 Then king 4428 Solomon 8010 sware 7650 z8735 by the LORD, 3068 saying, 559 z8800 God 430 doe 6213 z8799 so x3541 to me, and more x3254 also, y3254 z8686 x3541 if x3588 Adoniiah 138 haue not spoken 1696 z8765 x853 this x2088 word 1697 against his owne life. 5315

 2:24 Now x6258 therefore as the LORD 3068 liueth, 2416 which x834 hath established 3559 z8689 mee, and set 3427 z8686 mee on x5921 the throne 3678 of Dauid 1732 my father, 1 and who x834 hath made 6213 z8804 me an house 1004 as x834 he promised, 1696 z8765 Adoniiah 138 shall be put to death 4191 z8714 this day. 3117

 2:25 And king 4428 Solomon 8010 sent 7971 z8799 by the hand 3027 of Benaiah 1141 the sonne 1121 of Iehoiada, 3077 and he fell 6293 z8799 vpon him that he died. 4191 z8799

 2:26 ¶ And vnto Abiathar 54 the Priest 3548 saide 559 z8804 the King, 4428 Get y3212 z8798 x1980 thee to Anathoth, 6068 vnto x5921 thine own fields, 7704 for x3588 thou x859 [art] worthy 376 of death: 4194 but I will not x3808 at this x2088 time 3117 put thee to death, 4191 z8686 because x3588 thou barest 5375 z8804 x853 the arke 727 of the Lord 136 GOD y3069 x3068 before 6440 Dauid 1732 my father, 1 and because x3588 thou hast bene afflicted 6031 z8694 in all x3605 wherein x834 my father 1 was afflicted. 6031 z8694

 2:27 So Solomon 8010 thrust out 1644 z8762 x853 Abiathar 54 from beeing x4480 x1961 Priest 3548 vnto the LORD: 3068 that hee might fulfill 4390 z8763 x853 the word 1697 of the LORD, 3068 which x834 hee spake 1696 z8765 concerning x5921 the house 1004 of Eli 5941 in Shiloh. 7887

 2:28 ¶ Then tidings 8052 came 935 z8804 to x5704 Ioab 3097 (for x3588 Ioab 3097 had turned 5186 z8804 after 310 Adoniiah, 138 though hee turned 5186 z8804 not x3808 after 310 Absalom) 53 and Ioab 3097 fled 5127 z8799 vnto x413 the Tabernacle 168 of the LORD, 3068 and caught hold 2388 z8686 on the hornes 7161 of the Altar. 4196

 2:29 And it was told 5046 z8714 king 4428 Solomon 8010 that x3588 Ioab 3097 was fled 5127 z8804 vnto x413 the Tabernacle 168 of the LORD, 3068 and behold, x2009 hee [is] by 681 the Altar: 4196 Then Solomon 8010 sent 7971 z8799 x853 Benaiah 1141 the sonne 1121 of Iehoiada, 3077 saying, 559 z8800 Goe y3212 z8798 x1980 fall 6293 z8798 vpon him.

 2:30 And Benaiah 1141 came 935 z8799 to x413 the Tabernacle 168 of the LORD, 3068 and said 559 z8799 vnto x413 him, Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the king, 4428 Come foorth. 3318 z8798 And he said, 559 z8799 Nay, x3808 but x3588 I will die 4191 z8799 heere. x6311 And Benaiah 1141 brought 7725 z0 x853 the king 4428 word 1697 againe, y7725 z8686 saying, 559 z8800 Thus x3541 said 1696 z8765 Ioab, 3097 and thus x3541 he answered 6030 z8804 me.

 2:31 And the king 4428 saide 559 z8799 vnto him, Doe 6213 z8798 as x834 he hath said, 1696 z8765 and fall 6293 z8798 vpon him, and bury 6912 z8804 him, that thou mayest take away 5493 z8689 the innocent 2600 blood 1818 which x834 Ioab 3097 shed, 8210 z8804 from x4480 x5921 mee, and from x4480 x5921 the house 1004 of my father. 1

 2:32 And the LORD 3068 shall returne 7725 z8689 x853 his blood 1818 vpon x5921 his owne head, 7218 who x834 fell 6293 z8804 vpon two 8147 men, y582 x376 more righteous 6662 and better 2896 then x4480 hee, and slew 2026 z8799 them with the sword, 2719 my father 1 Dauid 1732 not x3808 knowing 3045 z8804 thereof, [to wit], x853 Abner 74 the sonne 1121 of Ner, 5369 captaine 8269 of the hoste 6635 of Israel, 3478 and Amasa 6021 the sonne 1121 of Iether, 3500 captaine 8269 of the hoste 6635 of Iudah. 3063

 2:33 Their blood 1818 shall therefore returne 7725 z8804 vpon the head 7218 of Ioab, 3097 and vpon the head 7218 of his seed 2233 for euer: 5769 but vpon Dauid, 1732 and vpon his seede, 2233 and vpon his house, 1004 and vpon his throne, 3678 shall there bee x1961 peace 7965 for y5704 euer 5769 x5704 from x4480 x5973 the LORD. 3068

 2:34 So Benaiah 1141 the sonne 1121 of Iehoiada 3077 went vp, 5927 z8799 and fell 6293 z8799 vpon him, and slewe 4191 z8686 him, and hee was buried 6912 z8735 in his owne house 1004 in the wildernesse. 4057

 2:35 ¶ And the king 4428 put 5414 z8799 x853 Benaiah 1141 the sonne 1121 of Iehoiada 3077 in his roome x8478 ouer x5921 the hoste, 6635 and Zadok 6659 the Priest 3548 did the king 4428 put 5414 z8804 in the roume x8478 of Abiathar. 54

 2:36 ¶ And the king 4428 sent, 7971 z8799 and called 7121 z8799 for Shimei, 8096 and said 559 z8799 vnto him, Build 1129 z8798 thee an house 1004 in Ierusalem, 3389 and dwell 3427 z8804 there, x8033 and goe not forth 3318 z8799 x3808 thence x4480 x8033 any x575 whither. 575

 2:37 For it shall be, x1961 that on the day 3117 thou goest out, 3318 z8800 & passest ouer 5674 z8804 x853 the brooke 5158 Kidron, 6939 thou shalt know 3045 z8799 for certaine, 3045 z8800 that x3588 thou shalt surely y4191 z8800 die: 4191 z8799 thy blood 1818 shal be x1961 vpon thine owne head. 7218

 2:38 And Shimei 8096 said 559 z8799 vnto the King, 4428 The saying 1697 [is] good: 2896 as x834 my lord 113 the king 4428 hath said, 1696 z8765 so x3651 will thy seruant 5650 doe. 6213 z8799 And Shimei 8096 dwelt 3427 z8799 in Ierusalem 3389 many 7227 dayes. 3117

 2:39 And it came to passe x1961 at the end 7093 x4480 of three 7969 yeeres, 8141 that two 8147 of the seruants 5650 of Shimei 8096 ranne away 1272 z8799 vnto x413 Achish 397 sonne 1121 of Maachah 4601 king 4428 of Gath: 1661 and they told 5046 z8686 Shimei, 8096 saying, 559 z8800 Beholde, x2009 thy seruants 5650 [be] in Gath. 1661

 2:40 And Shimei 8096 arose, 6965 z8799 and sadled 2280 z8799 x853 his asse, 2543 and went y3212 z8799 x1980 to Gath 1661 to x413 Achish, 397 to seeke 1245 z8763 x853 his seruants: 5650 and Shimei 8096 went y3212 z8799 x1980 and brought 935 z8686 x853 his seruants 5650 from Gath. 1661 x4480

 2:41 And it was told 5046 z8714 Solomon, 8010 that x3588 Shimei 8096 had gone 1980 z8804 from Ierusalem 3389 x4480 to Gath, 1661 and was come againe. 7725 z8799

 2:42 And the king 4428 sent 7971 z8799 and called 7121 z8799 for Shimei, 8096 and said 559 z8799 vnto x413 him, Did I not x3808 make thee to sweare 7650 z8689 by the LORD, 3068 and protested 5749 z8686 vnto thee, saying, 559 z8800 Know y3045 z8799 for a certaine, 3045 z8800 that on the day 3117 thou goest out, 3318 z8800 and walkest y1980 z8804 abroad x1980 any x575 whither, 575 that x3588 thou shalt surely y4191 z8800 die? 4191 z8799 And thou saidest 559 z8799 vnto x413 me, The word 1697 [that] I haue heard, 8085 z8804 [is] good. 2896

 2:43 Why x4069 then hast thou not x3808 kept 8104 z8804 x853 the Oath 7621 of the LORD, 3068 and the commandement 4687 that x834 I haue charged 6680 z8765 thee x5921 with?

 2:44 The king 4428 said 559 z8799 moreuer to x413 Shimei, 8096 Thou x859 knowest 3045 z8804 x853 all x3605 the wickednesse 7451 which x834 thine heart 3824 is priuie to, 3045 z8804 that x834 thou diddest 6213 z8804 to Dauid 1732 my father: 1 therefore the LORD 3068 shall returne 7725 z8689 x853 thy wickednesse 7451 vpon thine owne head. 7218

 2:45 And king 4428 Solomon 8010 [shall be] blessed, 1288 z8803 and the throne 3678 of Dauid 1732 shall bee x1961 established 3559 z8737 before 6440 the LORD 3068 for y5704 euer. 5769 x5704

 2:46 So the king 4428 commaunded 6680 z8762 x853 Benaiah 1141 the sonne 1121 of Iehoiada, 3077 which went out, 3318 z8799 and fell 6293 z8799 vpon him, that he died, 4191 z8799 and the kingdome 4467 was established 3559 z8738 in the hand 3027 of Solomon. 8010
