2 Samuel 14

1 Joab, suborning a widow of Tekoah, by a parable to incline the king's heart to fetch home Absalom, bringeth him to Jerusalem. 25 Absalom's beauty, hair, and children. 28 After two years, Absalom by Joab is brought before the king's presence.

 14:1 ¶ Now Ioab 3097 the sonne 1121 of Zeruiah, 6870 perceiued 3045 z8799 that x3588 the kings 4428 heart 3820 [was] toward x5921 Absalom. 53

 14:2 And Ioab 3097 sent 7971 z8799 to Tekoah, 8620 and fetcht 3947 z8799 thence x4480 x8033 a wise 2450 woman, 802 and said 559 z8799 vnto x413 her, I pray thee, x4994 faine thy selfe to be a mourner, 56 z8693 and put on 3847 z8798 now x4994 mourning 60 apparel, 899 and anoint 5480 z8799 not x408 thy selfe with oile, 8081 but be x1961 as a woman 802 that x2088 had a long 7227 time 3117 mourned 56 z8690 for x5921 the dead: 4191 z8801

 14:3 And come 935 z8804 to x413 the king, 4428 and speake 1696 z8765 on x413 this x2088 maner 1697 vnto x413 him: so Ioab 3097 put 7760 z8799 x853 the words 1697 in her mouth. 6310

 14:4 ¶ And when the woman 802 of Tekoah 8621 spake 559 z8799 to x413 the king, 4428 shee fell 5307 z8799 on x5921 her face 639 to the ground, 776 and did obeysance, 7812 z8691 and said, 559 z8799 Helpe, 3467 z8685 O king. 4428

 14:5 And the king 4428 said 559 z8799 vnto her, What x4100 aileth thee? And she answered, 559 z8799 I x589 am indeed 61 a widow 490 woman, 802 and mine husband 376 is dead. 4191 z8799

 14:6 And thy handmayd 8198 had two 8147 sonnes, 1121 and they two 8147 stroue together 5327 z8735 in the field, 7704 and there was none x369 to part 5337 z8688 x996 them, but the one 259 smote 5221 z8686 x853 the other, 259 and slew 4191 z8686 him.

 14:7 And behold, x2009 the whole x3605 family 4940 is risen 6965 z8804 against x5921 thine handmayd, 8198 and they said, 559 z8799 Deliuer 5414 z8798 x853 him that smote 5221 z8688 his brother, 251 that we may kill 4191 z8686 him, for the life 5315 of his brother 251 whom x834 he slew, 2026 z8804 and we will destroy 8045 z8686 x853 the heire 3423 z8802 also: x1571 and so they shall quench 3518 z8765 x853 my cole 1513 which x834 is left, y7760 z8800 x7604 and shall not x1115 leaue 7604 z8738 to my husband 376 [neither] name 8034 nor remainder 7611 vpon 6440 x5921 the earth. 127

 14:8 And the king 4428 saide 559 z8799 vnto x413 the woman, 802 Goe y3212 z8798 x1980 to thine house, 1004 and I x589 will giue charge 6680 z8762 concerning x5921 thee.

 14:9 And the woman 802 of Tekoah 8621 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 the king, 4428 My lord, 113 O king, 4428 the iniquitie 5771 [bee] on x5921 mee, and on x5921 my fathers 1 house: 1004 and the king 4428 and his throne 3678 [bee] guiltlesse. 5355

 14:10 And the king 4428 said, 559 z8799 Whosoeuer saith 1696 z8764 [ought] vnto x413 thee, bring 935 z8689 him to x413 mee, and he shall not x3808 touch 5060 z8800 thee any x3254 more. y3254 z8686 x5750

 14:11 Then said 559 z8799 she, I pray thee, x4994 let the king 4428 remember 2142 z8799 x853 the LORD 3068 thy God, 430 that thou wouldest not x3808 suffer the reuengers 1350 z8802 of blood 1818 to destroy 7843 z8763 any more, 7235 z8687 lest they destroy 8045 z8686 x853 my sonne. 1121 And he said, 559 z8799 As the LORD 3068 liueth, 2416 there shall not x518 one haire 8185 x4480 of thy sonne 1121 fall 5307 z8799 to the earth. 776

 14:12 Then the woman 802 said, 559 z8799 Let thine handmayd, 8198 I pray thee, x4994 speake 1696 z8762 one word 1697 vnto x413 my lord 113 the king. 4428 And hee said, 559 z8799 Say on. 1696 z8761

 14:13 And the woman 802 said, 559 z8799 Wherefore x4100 then hast thou thought 2803 z8804 such x2063 a thing against x5921 the people 5971 of God? 430 For the king 4428 doeth speake 1696 z8693 x4480 this x2088 thing 1697 as one which is faulty, 818 in that the king 4428 doeth not x1115 fetch home againe 7725 z8687 x853 his banished. 5080 z8737

 14:14 For x3588 we must needs y4191 z8800 die, 4191 z8799 and are as water 4325 spilt 5064 z8737 on the ground, 776 which x834 cannot x3808 bee gathered vp x622 againe: y622 z8735 neither x3808 doeth God 430 respect 5375 z8799 any person, 5315 yet doeth he deuise 2803 z8804 meanes, 4284 that his banished 5080 z8737 bee not expelled 5080 z8799 from x4480 him.

 14:15 Now x6258 therefore that x834 I am come 935 z8804 to speake 1696 z8763 of x853 this x2088 thing 1697 vnto x413 my lord 113 the king, 4428 [it is] because x3588 the people 5971 haue made me afraid: 3372 z8765 and thy handmayd 8198 said, 559 z8799 I will now x4994 speake 1696 z8762 vnto x413 the king; 4428 it may bee x194 that the king 4428 will performe 6213 z8799 x853 the request 1697 of his handmayd. 519

 14:16 For x3588 the king 4428 wil heare, 8085 z8799 to deliuer 5337 z8687 x853 his handmayd 519 out of the hand 3709 x4480 of the man 376 [that would] destroy 8045 z8687 mee, and my sonne 1121 together 3162 out of the inheritance 5159 x4480 of God: 430

 14:17 Then thine handmaid 8198 said, 559 z8799 The word 1697 of my lord 113 the king 4428 shall now x4994 be x1961 comfortable: 4496 for x3588 as an Angel 4397 of God, 430 so x3651 [is] my lord 113 the king 4428 to discerne 8085 z8800 good 2896 and bad: 7451 therfore the LORD 3068 thy God 430 will be x1961 with x5973 thee.

 14:18 Then the king 4428 answered 6030 z8799 and said 559 z8799 vnto x413 the woman, 802 Hide 3582 z8762 not x408 from x4480 me, I pray thee, x4994 the thing 1697 that x834 I x595 shall aske 7592 z8802 thee. And the woman 802 said, 559 z8799 Let my lord 113 the king 4428 now x4994 speake. 1696 z8762

 14:19 And the king 4428 said, 559 z8799 Is not the hand 3027 of Ioab 3097 with x854 thee in all x3605 this? x2063 And the woman 802 answered 6030 z8799 and said, 559 z8799 As thy soule 5315 liueth, 2416 my lord 113 the king, 4428 none y376 can y786 turne x518 x786 to the right x3231 hand y3231 z8687 or to the left 8041 z8687 from ought x4480 x3605 that x834 my lord 113 the king 4428 hath spoken: 1696 z8765 for x3588 thy seruant 5650 Ioab, 3097 hee x1931 bade 6680 z8765 me, and he x1931 put 7760 z8804 x853 all x3605 these x428 wordes 1697 in the mouth 6310 of thine handmaid: 8198

 14:20 To 5668 fetch about 5437 z8763 x853 this forme 6440 of speech 1697 hath thy seruant 5650 Ioab 3097 done 6213 z8804 x853 this x2088 thing: 1697 and my lord 113 [is] wise, 2450 according to the wisedome 2451 of an Angel 4397 of God, 430 to know 3045 z8800 x853 all x3605 things that x834 [are] in the earth. 776

 14:21 ¶ And the king 4428 said 559 z8799 vnto x413 Ioab, 3097 Behold x2009 now, x4994 I haue done 6213 z8804 x853 this x2088 thing: 1697 goe y3212 z8798 x1980 therefore, bring 7725 z0 x853 the yong man 5288 Absalom 53 againe. y7725 z8685

 14:22 And Ioab 3097 fell 5307 z8799 to the ground 776 on x413 his face, 6440 & bowed y7812 z8691 himselfe, x7812 and thanked 1288 z8762 x853 the king: 4428 and Ioab 3097 said, 559 z8799 To day 3117 thy seruant 5650 knoweth 3045 z8804 that x3588 I haue found 4672 z8804 grace 2580 in thy sight, 5869 my lord 113 O king, 4428 in that x834 the king 4428 hath fulfilled 6213 z8804 x853 the request 1697 of his seruant. 5650

 14:23 So Ioab 3097 arose, 6965 z8799 and went y3212 z8799 x1980 to Geshur, 1650 & brought 935 z8686 x853 Absalom 53 to Ierusalem. 3389

 14:24 And the king 4428 said, 559 z8799 Let him turne 5437 z8735 to x413 his owne house, 1004 & let him not x3808 see 7200 z8799 my face. 6440 So Absalom 53 returned 5437 z8735 to x413 his owne house, 1004 and sawe 7200 z8804 not x3808 the kings 4428 face. 6440

 14:25 ¶ But in all x3605 Israel 3478 there was x1961 none 376 x3808 to be so much 3966 praised 1984 z8763 as Absalom, 53 for his beautie: 3303 from the sole 3709 x4480 of his foot 7272 euen to x5704 the crowne of his head, 6936 there was x1961 no x3808 blemish 3971 in him.

 14:26 And when he polled 1548 z8763 x853 his head, 7218 (for it was x1961 at euery yeres 3117 end 7093 3117 x4480 that x834 he polled 1548 z8762 it: because x3588 [the haire] was heauy 3513 z8804 on x5921 him, therefore he polled 1548 z8765 it) hee weighed 8254 z8804 x853 the haire 8181 of his head 7218 at two hundred 3967 shekels 8255 after the kings 4428 weight. 68

 14:27 And vnto Absalom 53 there were borne 3205 z8735 three 7969 sonnes, 1121 and one 259 daughter, 1323 whose name 8034 was Tamar: 8559 shee x1931 [was] x1961 a woman 802 of a faire 3303 countenance. 4758

 14:28 ¶ So Absalom 53 dwelt 3427 z8799 two full y3117 yeeres 8141 x3117 in Ierusalem, 3389 and saw 7200 z8804 not x3808 the kings 4428 face. 6440

 14:29 Therefore Absalom 53 sent 7971 z8799 for x413 Ioab, 3097 to haue sent 7971 z8800 him to x413 the king, 4428 but hee would 14 z8804 not x3808 come 935 z8800 to x413 him: and when hee sent x7971 againe y7971 z8799 x5750 the second time, 8145 hee would 14 z8804 not x3808 come. 935 z8800

 14:30 Therefore hee said 559 z8799 vnto x413 his seruants, 5650 See, 7200 z8798 Ioabs 3097 field 2513 is neere 413 mine, 3027 and he hath barley 8184 there: x8033 goe, y3212 z8798 x1980 and set 3341 z8685 it on fire: 784 and Absaloms 53 seruants 5650 set 3341 z8686 x853 the field 2513 on fire. 784

 14:31 Then Ioab 3097 arose, 6965 z8799 and came 935 z8799 to x413 Absalom 53 vnto his house, 1004 and said 559 z8799 vnto x413 him, Wherefore x4100 haue thy seruants 5650 set 3341 z8689 x853 my field 2513 on fire? 784

 14:32 And Absalom 53 answered 559 z8799 x413 Ioab, 3097 Behold, x2009 I sent 7971 z8804 vnto x413 thee, saying, 559 z8800 come 935 z8798 hither, x2008 that I may send 7971 z8799 thee to x413 the king 4428 to say, 559 z8800 Wherefore x4100 am I x589 come 935 z8804 from Geshur? 1650 x4480 It had bene good 2896 for mee [to haue bene] there x8033 still: x5750 now x6258 therefore let me see 7200 z8799 the kings 4428 face: 6440 and if x518 there bee 3426 any iniquitie 5771 in me, let him kill 4191 z8689 me.

 14:33 So Ioab 3097 came 935 z8799 to x413 the King, 4428 and told 5046 z8686 him: and when hee had called 7121 z8799 for x413 Absalom, 53 he came 935 z8799 to x413 the king, 4428 and bowed 7812 z8691 himselfe on x5921 his face 639 to the ground 776 before 6440 the king, 4428 and the King 4428 kissed 5401 z8799 Absalom. 53
