1 Joshua's exhortation before his death, 3 by former benefits, 5 by promises, 11 and by threatenings.

23:1 ¶ And it came to passe, x1961 a long 7227 time 3117 x4480 after 310 that x834 the LORD 3068 had giuen rest 5117 z8689 vnto Israel 3478 from all x4480 x3605 their enemies 341 z8802 round about, 5439 x4480 that Ioshua 3091 waxed old, 2204 z8804 [and] stricken 935 z8804 in age. 3117

23:2 And Ioshua 3091 called 7121 z8799 for all x3605 Israel, 3478 [and] for their Elders, 2205 & for their Heads, 7218 and for their Iudges, 8199 z8802 and for their Officers, 7860 z8802 and said 559 z8799 vnto x413 them; I x589 am old, 2204 z8804 [and] stricken 935 z8804 in age. 3117

23:3 And yee x859 haue seene 7200 z8804 x853 all x3605 that x834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 hath done 6213 z8804 vnto all x3605 these x428 nations, 1471 because 6440 x4480 of you; for x3588 the LORD 3068 your God 430 [is] hee x1931 that hath fought 3898 z8737 for you.

23:4 Behold, 7200 z8798 I haue diuided y5307 z8689 vnto you by lot x5307 x853 these x428 nations 1471 that remaine, 7604 z8737 to bee an inheritance 5159 for your tribes, 7626 from x4480 Iordan, 3383 with all x3605 the nations 1471 that x834 I haue cut off, 3772 z8689 euen vnto the great 1419 Sea 3220 Westward. 3996 8121

23:5 And the LORD 3068 your God, 430 hee x1931 shall expell 1920 z8799 them from before 6440 x4480 you, and driue 3423 z8689 them from out of your sight, 6440 x4480 & ye shall possesse 3423 z8804 x853 their land, 776 as x834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 hath promised 1696 z8765 vnto you.

23:6 Be ye therefore very 3966 courageous 2388 z8804 to keepe 8104 z8800 and to doe 6213 z8800 x853 all x3605 that is written 3789 z8803 in the booke 5612 of the Law 8451 of Moses, 4872 that yee turne 5493 z8800 not x1115 aside x5493 therefrom, x4480 to the right hand, 3225 or to the left, 8040

23:7 That yee come 935 z8800 not x1115 among these x428 nations, 1471 these x428 that remaine 7604 z8737 amongst you, neither x3808 make mention 2142 z8686 of the name 8034 of their gods, 430 nor x3808 cause to sweare 7650 z8686 [by them], neither x3808 serue 5647 z8799 them, nor x3808 bow y7812 z8691 your selues x7812 vnto them.

23:8 But x3588 x518 cleaue 1692 z8799 vnto the LORD 3068 your God, 430 as x834 yee haue done 6213 z8804 vnto x5704 this x2088 day. 3117

23:9 For the LORD 3068 hath driuen out 3423 z8686 from before 6440 x4480 you, great 1419 nations, 1471 and strong: 6099 But as for you, x859 no x3808 man 376 hath beene able to stand 5975 z8804 before 6440 you vnto x5704 this x2088 day. 3117

23:10 One 259 man 376 of x4480 you shall chase 7291 z8799 a thousand: 505 for x3588 the LORD 3068 your God, 430 he x1931 it is that fighteth 3898 z8737 for you, as x834 hee hath promised 1696 z8765 you.

23:11 Take good 3966 heed 8104 z8738 therefore vnto your selues, 5315 that ye loue 157 z8800 x853 the LORD 3068 your God. 430

23:12 Else, x3588 if x518 ye do in any wise y7725 z8800 go backe, 7725 z8799 and cleaue 1692 z8804 vnto the remnant 3499 of these x428 nations, 1471 [euen] these x428 that remaine 7604 z8737 among x854 you, and shall make marriages 2859 z8694 with them, and goe in 935 z8804 vnto them, and they x1992 to you:

23:13 Know y3045 z8799 for a certainety, 3045 z8800 that x3588 the LORD 3068 your God 430 will no x3808 more 3254 z8686 driue out 3423 z8687 any of x853 these x428 nations 1471 from before 6440 x4480 you: but they shalbe x1961 snares 6341 and traps 4170 vnto you, and scourges 7850 in your sides, 6654 and thornes y6796 x6976 in your eyes, 5869 vntill x5704 yee perish 6 z8800 from off x4480 x5921 this x2063 good 2896 land 127 which x834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 hath giuen 5414 z8804 you.

23:14 And behold, x2009 this day 3117 I x595 am going 1980 z8802 the way 1870 of all x3605 the earth, 776 and ye know 3045 z8804 in all x3605 your hearts, 3824 and in all x3605 your soules, 5315 that x3588 not x3808 one 259 thing 1697 hath failed 5307 z8804 of all x4480 x3605 the good 2896 things 1697 which x834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 spake 1696 z8765 concerning x5921 you; all x3605 are come to passe 935 z8804 vnto you, and not x3808 one 259 thing 1697 hath failed 5307 z8804 thereof. x4480

23:15 Therefore it shall come to passe, x1961 [that] as x834 all x3605 good 2896 things 1697 are come 935 z8804 vpon x5921 you, which x834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 promised 1696 z8765 x413 you: so x3651 shall the LORD 3068 bring 935 z8686 vpon x5921 you x853 all x3605 euill 7451 things, 1697 vntill x5704 he haue destroyed 8045 z8687 you from off x4480 x5921 this x2063 good 2896 land 127 which x834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 hath giuen 5414 z8804 you.

23:16 When yee haue transgressed 5674 z8800 x853 the Couenant 1285 of the LORD 3068 your God, 430 which x834 hee commaunded 6680 z8765 you, and haue gone 1980 z8804 and serued 5647 z8804 other 312 gods, 430 and bowed y7812 z8694 your selues x7812 to them: then shall the anger 639 of the LORD 3068 bee kindled 2734 z8804 against you, and yee shall perish 6 z8804 quickly 4120 from off x4480 x5921 the good 2896 land 776 which x834 hee hath giuen 5414 z8804 vnto you.
