1 The LORD appointeth Joshua to succeed Moses. 3 The borders of the promised land. 5, 9 God promiseth to assist Joshua. 8 He giveth him instructions. 10 He prepareth the people to pass over Jordan. 12 Joshua putteth the two tribes and half in mind of their promise to Moses. 16 They promise him fealty.

 1:2 Moses 4872 my seruant 5650 is dead: 4191 z8804 now x6258 therefore arise, 6965 z8798 goe ouer 5674 z8798 x853 this x2088 Iordan, 3383 thou, x859 and all x3605 this x2088 people, 5971 vnto x413 the land 776 which x834 I x595 doe giue 5414 z8802 to them, [euen] to the children 1121 of Israel. 3478

 1:3 Euery x3605 place 4725 that x834 the sole 3709 of your foote 7272 shall tread x1869 vpon, y1869 z8799 that haue I giuen 5414 z8804 vnto you, as x834 I said 1696 z8765 vnto x413 Moses. 4872

 1:4 From the wildernesse 4057 x4480 and this x2088 Lebanon, 3844 euen vnto x5704 the great 1419 Riuer, 5104 the riuer 5104 Euphrates, 6578 all x3605 the land 776 of the Hittites, 2850 and vnto x5704 the great 1419 sea, 3220 toward the going downe 3996 of the Sunne, 8121 shalbe x1961 your coast. 1366

 1:5 There shall not x3808 any man 376 be able to stand 3320 z8691 before 6440 thee all x3605 the dayes 3117 of thy life: 2416 as x834 I was x1961 with x5973 Moses, 4872 [so] I will be x1961 with x5973 thee: I will not x3808 faile 7503 z8686 thee, nor x3808 forsake 5800 z8799 thee.

 1:6 Bee strong, 2388 z8798 and of a good courage: 553 z8798 for x3588 vnto x853 this x2088 people 5971 shalt thou x859 diuide for an inheritance 5157 z8686 x853 the land 776 which x834 I sware 7650 z8738 vnto their fathers 1 to giue 5414 z8800 them.

 1:7 Onely x7535 bee thou strong, 2388 z8798 and very 3966 courageous, 553 z8798 that thou mayest obserue 8104 z8800 to doe 6213 z8800 according to all x3605 the Law, 8451 which x834 Moses 4872 my seruant 5650 commaunded 6680 z8765 thee: turne 5493 z8799 not x408 from x4480 it to the right hand, 3225 or to the left, 8040 that x4616 thou mayest prosper 7919 z8686 whither soeuer x3605 x834 thou goest. y3212 z8799 x1980

 1:12 ¶ And to the Reubenites, 7206 and to the Gadites, 1425 and to halfe 2677 the tribe 7626 of Manasseh, 4519 spake 559 z8804 Ioshua, 3091 saying, 559 z8800

 1:13 Remember 2142 z8800 x853 the word 1697 which x834 Moses 4872 the seruant 5650 of the LORD 3068 commanded 6680 z8765 you, saying, 559 z8800 The LORD 3068 your God 430 hath giuen you rest, 5117 z8688 and hath giuen 5414 z8804 you x853 this x2063 land: 776

 1:14 Your wiues, 802 your litle ones, 2945 and your cattell 4735 shall remaine 3427 z8799 in the lande 776 which x834 Moses 4872 gaue 5414 z8804 you on this side 5676 Iordan; 3383 but ye x859 shall passe 5674 z8799 before 6440 your brethren 251 armed, 2571 all x3605 the mightie y1368 men x1368 of valour, 2428 and helpe 5826 z8804 them:

 1:15 Untill x5704 x834 the LORD 3068 haue giuen 5117 z0 your brethren 251 rest, 5117 z8686 as [he hath giuen] you, and they x1992 also x1571 haue possessed 3423 z8804 x853 the lande 776 which x834 the LORD 3068 your God 430 giueth 5414 z8802 them: then yee shall returne 7725 z8804 vnto the land 776 of your possession, 3425 and enioy 3423 z8804 it, which x834 Moses 4872 the LORDS 3068 seruant 5650 gaue 5414 z8804 you on this side 5676 Iordan 3383 toward the Sunne rising. 4217 8121
