Hosea 4

1 God's judgments against the sins of the people, 6 and of the priests, 12 and against their idolatry. 15 Judah is exhorted to take warning by Israel's calamity.

 4:1 ¶ Heare 8085 z8798 the worde 1697 of the LORD, 3068 yee children 1121 of Israel: 3478 for x3588 the LORD 3068 hath a controuersie 7379 with x5973 the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of the land, 776 because x3588 [there is] no x369 trueth, 571 nor x369 mercie, 2617 nor x369 knowledge 1847 of God 430 in the land. 776

 4:2 By swearing, 422 z8800 and lying, 3584 z8763 and killing, 7523 z8800 and stealing, 1589 z8800 and committing adulterie, 5003 z8800 they breake out, 6555 z8804 and blood 1818 toucheth 5060 z8804 blood. 1818

 4:3 Therefore x5921 x3651 shall the land 776 mourne, 56 z8799 and euery one x3605 that dwelleth 3427 z8802 therein shall languish, 535 z8797 with the beastes 2416 of the field, 7704 and with the foules 5775 of heauen, 8064 yea the fishes 1709 of the Sea 3220 also x1571 shall be taken away. 622 z8735

 4:4 Yet x389 let no x408 man 376 striue, 7378 z8799 nor x408 reproue 3198 z8686 another: 376 for this people 5971 [are] as they that striue 7378 z8688 with the priest. 3548

 4:5 Therefore shalt thou fall 3782 z8804 in the day, 3117 and the prophet 5030 also x1571 shall fall 3782 z8804 with x5973 thee in the night, 3915 and I will destroy 1820 z8804 thy mother. 517

 4:6 ¶ My people 5971 are destroyed 1820 z8738 for lacke x4480 x1097 of knowledge: 1847 because x3588 thou x859 hast reiected 3988 z8804 knowledge, 1847 I will also reiect 3988 z8799 thee, that thou shalt be no priest 3547 z8763 x4480 to me: seeing thou hast forgotten 7911 z8799 the lawe 8451 of thy God, 430 I x589 wil also x1571 forget 7911 z8799 thy children. 1121

 4:7 As they were increased, y7230 x7231 so x3651 they sinned 2398 z8804 against me: [therfore] wil I change 4171 z8686 their glory 3519 into shame. 7036

 4:8 They eate vp 398 z8799 the sinne 2403 of my people, 5971 and they set 5375 z8799 their heart 5315 on x413 their iniquitie. 5771

 4:9 And there shall be x1961 like people, 5971 like priest: 3548 and I will punish 6485 z8804 x5921 them for their wayes, 1870 and reward 7725 z8686 them their doings. 4611

 4:10 For they shall eate, 398 z8804 and not x3808 haue enough: 7646 z8799 they shall commit whordome, 2181 z8689 and shall not x3808 increase, 6555 z8799 because x3588 they haue left off 5800 z8804 to take heed 8104 z8800 x853 to the LORD. 3068

 4:11 Whoredome, 2184 and wine, 3196 and newe wine 8492 take away 3947 z8799 the heart. 3820

 4:12 ¶ My people 5971 aske y7592 z8799 counsel x7592 at their stocks, 6086 and their staffe 4731 declareth 5046 z8686 vnto them: for x3588 the spirit 7307 of whordomes 2183 hath caused [them] to erre, 8582 z8689 and they haue gone a whoring 2181 z8799 from vnder x4480 x8478 their God. 430

 4:13 They sacrifice 2076 z8762 vpon x5921 the tops 7218 of the mountaines, 2022 and burne incense 6999 z8762 vpon x5921 the hilles 1389 vnder x8478 okes 437 and poplars, 3839 and elmes, 424 because x3588 the shadowe 6738 thereof [is] good: 2896 therefore x5921 x3651 your daughters 1323 shall commit whoredome, 2181 z8799 and your spouses 3618 shall commit adulterie. 5003 z8762

 4:14 I will not x3808 punish 6485 z8799 x5921 your daughters 1323 when x3588 they commit whordome, 2181 z8799 nor your spouses 3618 when x3588 they commit adulterie: 5003 z8762 for x3588 themselues x1992 are separated 6504 z8762 with x5973 whores, 2181 z8802 and they sacrifice 2076 z8762 with x5973 harlots: 6948 therfore the people 5971 [that] doth not x3808 vnderstand, 995 z8799 shall fall. 3832 z8735

 4:15 ¶ Though x518 thou x859 Israel 3478 play the harlot, 2181 z8802 [yet] let not x408 Iudah 3063 offend, 816 z8799 and come 935 z8799 not x408 ye vnto Gilgal, 1537 neither x408 goe ye vp 5927 z8799 to Beth-auen, 1007 nor x408 sweare, 7650 z8735 The LORD 3068 liueth: 2416

 4:16 For x3588 Israel 3478 slideth backe, 5637 z8804 as a backe sliding 5637 z8802 heifer: 6510 now x6258 the LORD 3068 will feede 7462 z8799 them as a lambe 3532 in a large place. 4800

 4:17 Ephraim 669 [is] ioyned 2266 z8803 to idoles: 6091 let him alone. y3240 z8685 x5117

 4:18 Their drinke 5435 is sowre: 5493 z8804 they haue committed whordome y2181 z8689 continually: 2181 z8687 her rulers 4043 [with] shame 7036 doe loue, 157 z8804 Giue 3051 z8798 ye.

 4:19 The wind 7307 hath bound her vp 6887 z8804 x853 in her wings, 3671 and they shall be ashamed 954 z8799 because of their sacrifices. 2077 x4480
