1 A reproof of Ephraim, Judah, and Jacob. 3 By former favours he exhorteth to repentance. 7 Ephraim's sins provoke God.

12:1 ¶ Ephraim 669 feedeth 7462 z8802 on winde, 7307 and followeth y7291 z8802 after x7291 the East winde: 6921 hee daily 3117 x3605 increaseth 7235 z8686 lies 3577 and desolation, 7701 and they doe make 3772 z8799 a couenant 1285 with x5973 the Assyrians, 804 and oyle 8081 is caried 2986 z8714 into Egypt. 4714

12:2 The LORD 3068 hath also a controuersie 7379 with x5973 Iudah, 3063 and will punish 6485 z8800 x5921 Iacob 3290 according to his wayes, 1870 according to his doings 4611 will he recompense 7725 z8686 him.

12:3 ¶ Hee tooke his brother y251 by the heele 6117 z8804 x853 x251 in the wombe, 990 and by his strength 202 he had power 8280 z8804 with x854 God. 430

12:4 Yea, he had power y7786 z8799 x8280 ouer x413 the Angel 4397 and preuailed: 3201 z8799 hee wept 1058 z8804 and made supplication 2603 z8691 vnto him: he found 4672 z8799 him in Bethel, 1008 and there x8033 he spake 1696 z8762 with x5973 vs.

12:5 Euen the LORD 3068 God 430 of hosts, 6635 the LORD 3068 [is] his memoriall. 2143

12:6 Therefore turne 7725 z8799 thou x859 to thy God: 430 keepe 8104 z8798 mercie 2617 and iudgement, 4941 and wait 6960 z8761 on x413 thy God 430 continually. 8548

12:7 ¶ [He is] a merchant, 3667 the balances 3976 of deceit 4820 are in his hand: 3027 hee loueth 157 z8804 to oppresse. 6231 z8800

12:8 And Ephraim 669 said, 559 z8799 Yet x389 I am become rich, 6238 z8804 I haue found mee out 4672 z8804 substance: 202 [in] all x3605 my labours 3018 they shall finde 4672 z8799 none x3808 iniquitie 5771 in mee, that x834 [were] sinne. 2399

12:9 And I x595 [that am] the LORD 3068 thy God 430 from the lande 776 x4480 of Egypt, 4714 will yet x5750 make thee to dwell 3427 z8686 in tabernacles, 168 as in the dayes 3117 of the solemne feast. 4150

12:10 I haue also spoken 1696 z8765 by x5921 the prophets, 5030 and I x595 haue multiplied 7235 z8689 visions, 2377 and vsed similitudes, 1819 z8762 by the ministerie 3027 of the prophets. 5030

12:11 [Is there] iniquitie 205 in Gilead? 1568 surely x389 they are x1961 vanitie, 7723 they sacrifice 2076 z8765 bullocks 7794 in Gilgal, 1537 yea x1571 their altars 4196 [are] as heapes 1530 in x5921 the furrowes 8525 of the fields. 7704

12:12 And Iacob 3290 fled 1272 z8799 into the countrey 7704 of Syria, 758 and Israel 3478 serued 5647 z8799 for a wife, 802 and for a wife 802 he kept 8104 z8804 [sheepe].

12:13 And by a Prophet 5030 the LORD 3068 brought 5927 z8689 x853 Israel 3478 out of Egypt, 4714 x4480 and by a Prophet 5030 was he preserued. 8104 z8738

12:14 Ephraim 669 prouoked him to anger, 3707 z8689 most bitterly: 8563 therefore shall he leaue 5203 z8799 his blood 1818 vpon x5921 him, and his reproch 2781 shall his Lord 113 returne 7725 z8686 vnto him.
