1 The Levite in a general assembly declareth his wrong. 8 The decree of the assembly. 12 The Benjamites, being cited, make head against the Israelites. 18 The Israelites in two battles lose forty thousand. 26 They destroy by a stratagem all the Benjamites except six hundred.

 20:1 ¶ Then all x3605 the children 1121 of Israel 3478 went out, 3318 z8799 and the Congregation 5712 was gathered together 6950 z8735 as one 259 man, 376 from Dan 1835 x4480 euen to x5704 Beer-sheba, 884 with the land 776 of Gilead, 1568 vnto x413 the LORD 3068 in Mizpeh. 4709

 20:2 And the chiefe 6438 of al x3605 the people, 5971 [euen] of all x3605 the tribes 7626 of Israel, 3478 presented y3320 z8691 themselues x3320 in the assembly 6951 of the people 5971 of God, 430 foure 702 hundred 3967 thousand 505 footmen 376 7273 that drew 8025 z8802 sword. 2719

 20:3 (Now the children 1121 of Beniamin 1144 heard 8085 z8799 that x3588 the children 1121 of Israel 3478 were gone vp 5927 z8804 to Mizpeh.) 4709 Then said 559 z8799 the children 1121 of Israel, 3478 Tell 1696 z8761 vs, how x349 was 1961 z8738 this x2063 wickednesse? 7451

 20:4 And the Leuite 3881 376 the husband 376 of the woman 802 that was slaine, 7523 z8737 answered 6030 z8799 and said, 559 z8799 I came 935 z8804 into Gibeah 1390 that x834 [belongeth] to Beniamin, 1144 I x589 and my concubine, 6370 to lodge. 3885 z8800

 20:5 And the men 1167 of Gibeah 1390 rose 6965 z8799 against x5921 me, and beset y5437 z0 the house y1004 round about 5437 z8799 x853 x1004 vpon x5921 me by night, 3915 and thought 1819 z8765 to haue slaine 2026 z8800 mee, [and] my concubine 6370 haue they forced 6031 z8765 that she is dead. 4191 z8799

 20:6 And I tooke 270 z8799 my concubine, 6370 and cut her in pieces, 5408 z8762 and sent 7971 z8762 her throughout all x3605 the countrey 7704 of the inheritance 5159 of Israel: 3478 for x3588 they haue committed 6213 z8804 lewdnesse 2154 and folly 5039 in Israel. 3478

 20:7 Behold, x2009 ye are all x3605 children 1121 of Israel, 3478 giue 3051 z8798 here 1988 your aduise 1697 and counsell. 6098

 20:8 ¶ And all x3605 the people 5971 arose 6965 z8799 as one 259 man, 376 saying, 559 z8800 We will not x3808 any 376 [of vs] goe y3212 z8799 x1980 to his tent, 168 neither x3808 will wee any 376 [of vs] turne 5493 z8799 into his house: 1004

 20:9 But now, x6258 this x2088 [shall bee] the thing 1697 which x834 we will doe 6213 z8799 to Gibeah, 1390 [we will goe vp] by lot 1486 against x5921 it:

 20:10 And we wil take 3947 z8804 ten 6235 men y582 x376 of a hundred 3967 throughout all x3605 the tribes 7626 of Israel, 3478 and an hundred 3967 of a thousand, 505 and a thousand 505 out of ten thousand, 7233 to fetch 3947 z8800 victuall 6720 for the people, 5971 that they may doe, 6213 z8800 when they come 935 z8800 to Gibeah 1387 of Beniamin, 1144 according to all x3605 the folly 5039 that x834 they haue wrought 6213 z8804 in Israel. 3478

 20:11 So all x3605 the men 376 of Israel 3478 were gathered 622 z8735 against x413 the citie, 5892 knit together 2270 as one 259 man. 376

 20:12 ¶ And the tribes 7626 of Israel 3478 sent 7971 z8799 men y582 x376 thorow all x3605 the tribe 7626 of Beniamin, 1144 saying, 559 z8800 What x4100 wickednesse 7451 is this x2063 that x834 is done 1961 z8738 among you?

 20:13 Now x6258 therfore deliuer 5414 z8798 vs x853 the men, y582 x376 the children 1121 of Belial 1100 which x834 [are] in Gibeah, 1390 that wee may put them to death, 4191 z8686 and put away 1197 z8762 euill 7451 from Israel: 3478 x4480 but the children 1121 of Beniamin 1144 would 14 z8804 not x3808 hearken 8085 z8800 to the voice 6963 of their brethren 251 the children 1121 of Israel. 3478

 20:14 But the children 1121 of Beniamin 1144 gathered themselues together 622 z8735 out of x4480 the cities, 5892 vnto Gibeah, 1390 to goe out 3318 z8800 to battell 4421 against x5973 the children 1121 of Israel. 3478

 20:15 And the children 1121 of Beniamin 1144 were numbred 6485 z8691 at that x1931 time 3117 out of the cities, 5892 x4480 twentie 6242 and sixe 8337 thousand 505 men 376 that drew 8025 z8802 sword, 2719 beside x905 the inhabitants 3427 z8802 x4480 of Gibeah, 1390 which were numbred 6485 z8694 seuen 7651 hundred 3967 chosen y977 z8803 x970 men. 376

 20:16 Among all x4480 x3605 this x2088 people 5971 [there were] seuen 7651 hundred 3967 chosen 977 z8803 men 376 left handed, 334 3027 3225 euery one x3605 x2088 could sling 7049 z8802 stones 68 at x413 an haire 8185 [breadth], and not x3808 misse. 2398 z8686

 20:17 And the men 376 of Israel, 3478 beside x905 Beniamin, 1144 x4480 were numbred 6485 z8694 foure 702 hundred 3967 thousand 505 men 376 that drewe 8025 z8802 sword; 2719 all x3605 these x2088 [were] men 376 of warre. 4421

 20:18 ¶ And the children 1121 of Israel 3478 arose, 6965 z8799 and went vp 5927 z8799 to the house y1004 of God, 1008 y430 z8677 and asked y7592 z8799 counsell x7592 of God, 430 and saide, 559 z8799 Which 4310 of vs shall goe vp 5927 z8799 first 8462 to the battell 4421 against x5973 the children 1121 of Beniamin? 1144 And the LORD 3068 said, 559 z8799 Iudah 3063 shall [goe vp] first. 8462

 20:19 And the children 1121 of Israel 3478 rose vp 6965 z8799 in the morning, 1242 and encamped 2583 z8799 against x5921 Gibeah. 1390

 20:20 And the men 376 of Israel 3478 went out 3318 z8799 to battell 4421 against x5973 Beniamin, 1144 and the men 376 of Israel 3478 put themselues in aray 6186 z8799 to fight 4421 against x854 them at x413 Gibeah. 1390

 20:21 And the children 1121 of Beniamin 1144 came forth 3318 z8799 out of x4480 Gibeah, 1390 and destroied downe 7843 z8686 to the ground 776 of the Israelites 3478 that x1931 day, 3117 twenty 6242 & two 8147 thousand 505 men. 376

 20:22 And the people 5971 the men 376 of Israel 3478 incouraged y2388 z8691 themselues, x2388 & set x6186 their battel 4421 againe 3254 z8686 in aray, 6186 z8800 in the place 4725 where x834 x8033 they put themselues in aray 6186 z8804 the first 7223 day. 3117

 20:23 (And the children 1121 of Israel 3478 went vp 5927 z8799 and wept 1058 z8799 before 6440 the LORD 3068 vntill x5704 Euen, 6153 and asked y7592 z8799 counsel x7592 of the LORD, 3068 saying, 559 z8800 Shall I goe vp 5066 z8800 againe 3254 z8686 to battell 4421 against x5973 the children 1121 of Beniamin 1144 my brother? 251 And the LORD 3068 saide, 559 z8799 Goe vp 5927 z8798 against x413 him.)

 20:24 And the children 1121 of Israel 3478 came neere 7126 z8799 against x413 the children 1121 of Beniamin, 1144 the second 8145 day. 3117

 20:25 And Beniamin 1144 went foorth 3318 z8799 against 7125 z8800 them out of x4480 Gibeah 1390 the second 8145 day, 3117 & destroyed x7843 down y7843 z8686 to the ground 776 of the children 1121 of Israel 3478 againe, x5750 eighteene 8083 6240 thousand 505 men, 376 all x3605 these x428 drew 8025 z8802 the sword. 2719

 20:26 ¶ Then all x3605 the children 1121 of Israel, 3478 and all x3605 the people 5971 went vp, 5927 z8799 and came 935 z8799 vnto the house y1004 of God, 1008 y430 z8677 and wept, 1058 z8799 and sate 3427 z8799 there x8033 before 6440 the LORD, 3068 and fasted 6684 z8799 that x1931 day 3117 vntill x5704 Euen, 6153 and offered 5927 z8686 burnt offerings, 5930 and peace offerings 8002 before 6440 the LORD. 3068

 20:30 And the children 1121 of Israel 3478 went vp 5927 z8799 against x413 the children 1121 of Beniamin 1144 on the third 7992 day, 3117 and put themselues in aray 6186 z8799 against x413 Gibeah, 1390 as at other times. 6471

 20:31 And the children 1121 of Beniamin 1144 went out 3318 z8799 against 7125 z8800 the people, 5971 [and] were drawen away 5423 z8717 from x4480 the citie, 5892 and they began 2490 z8686 to smite 5221 z8687 of the people 5971 x4480 [and] kill 2491 as at other times, 6471 in the high wayes, 4546 of which x834 one 259 goeth vp 5927 z8802 to the house y1004 of God, 1008 y430 z8677 and the other 259 to Gibeah 1390 in the field, 7704 about thirtie 7970 men 376 of Israel. 3478

 20:32 And the children 1121 of Beniamin 1144 said, 559 z8799 They x1992 are smitten downe 5062 z8737 before 6440 vs, as at the first: 7223 But the children 1121 of Israel 3478 said, 559 z8804 Let vs flee, 5127 z8799 and draw 5423 z8804 them from x4480 the citie, 5892 vnto x413 the high wayes. 4546

 20:33 And all x3605 the men 376 of Israel 3478 rose vp 6965 z8804 out of their place, 4725 x4480 and put themselues in aray 6186 z8799 at Baal Tamar: 1193 and the lyers in waite 693 z8802 of Israel 3478 came foorth 1518 z8688 out of their places, 4725 x4480 euen out of the medowes 4629 x4480 of Gibeah. y1387 x4480 x1390

 20:34 And there came 935 z8799 against 5048 x4480 Gibeah 1390 ten 6235 thousand 505 chosen 977 z8803 men, 376 out of all x4480 x3605 Israel, 3478 and the battell 4421 was sore: 3513 z8804 but they x1992 knew 3045 z8804 not x3808 that x3588 euill 7451 was neere 5060 z8802 them.

 20:35 And the LORD 3068 smote 5062 z8799 x853 Beniamin 1144 before 6440 Israel, 3478 and the children 1121 of Israel 3478 destroyed 7843 z8686 of the Beniamites y1145 x1144 that x1931 day, 3117 twentie 6242 and fiue 2568 thousand, 505 and an hundred 3967 men; 376 all x3605 these x428 drew 8025 z8802 the sword. 2719

 20:36 So the children 1121 of Beniamin 1144 saw 7200 z8799 that x3588 they were smitten: 5062 z8738 for the men 376 of Israel 3478 gaue 5414 z8799 place 4725 to the Beniamites, y1145 x1144 because x3588 they trusted 982 z8804 vnto x413 the lyers in wait, 693 z8802 which x834 they had set 7760 z8804 beside x413 Gibeah. 1390

 20:37 And the liers in wait 693 z8802 hasted, 2363 z8689 and rushed 6584 z8799 vpon x413 Gibeah, 1390 and the liers in wait 693 z8802 drew [themselues] along, 4900 z8799 and smote 5221 z8686 x853 all x3605 the citie 5892 with the edge 6310 of the sword. 2719

 20:38 Nowe there was x1961 an appointed signe 4150 between the men 376 of Israel 3478 and y5973 the liers in wait, 693 z8802 that they should make a great 7235 z8685 flame 4864 with smoke 6227 rise vp 5927 z8687 out of x4480 the citie. 5892

 20:39 And when the men 376 of Israel 3478 retired 2015 z8799 in the battell, 4421 Beniamin 1144 began 2490 z8689 to smite 5221 z8687 and kill 2491 of the men 376 of Israel 3478 about thirtie 7970 persons; 376 for x3588 they saide, 559 z8804 Surely y5062 z8736 x389 they x1931 are smitten downe 5062 z8737 before 6440 vs, as [in] the first 7223 battell. 4421

 20:40 But when the flame 4864 began 2490 z8689 to arise vp 5927 z8800 out of x4480 the citie, 5892 with a pillar 5982 of smoke, 6227 the Beniamites y1145 x1144 looked 6437 z8799 behind 310 them, and behold, x2009 the flame 3632 of the citie 5892 ascended vp 5927 z8804 to heauen. 8064

 20:41 And when the men 376 of Israel 3478 turned againe, 2015 z8804 the men 376 of Beniamin 1144 were amased; 926 z8735 for x3588 they saw 7200 z8804 that x3588 euill 7451 was come 5060 z8804 vpon x5921 them.

 20:42 Therefore they turned 6437 z8799 [their backs] before 6440 the men 376 of Israel, 3478 vnto x413 ye way 1870 of the wildernes, 4057 but the battel 4421 ouertooke 1692 z8689 them: & them which x834 came out of the cities, 5892 x4480 they destroyed 7843 z8688 in the midst 8432 of them.

 20:43 [Thus] they inclosed y3803 z8765 the Beniamites y1145 round about, 3803 z8765 x853 x1144 [and] chased 7291 z8689 them, and trode them downe 1869 z8689 with ease 4496 ouer against 5227 x5704 Gibeah 1390 toward the sunne rising. 4217 8121 x4480

 20:44 And there fell 5307 z8799 of Beniamin 1144 x4480 eighteene 8083 6240 thousand 505 men; 376 x853 all x3605 these x428 [were] men y582 x376 of valour. 2428

 20:45 And they turned 6437 z8799 and fled 5127 z8799 toward the wildernesse 4057 vnto x413 the rocke 5553 of Rimmon: 7417 and they gleaned 5953 z8779 of them in the high wayes 4546 fiue 2568 thousand 505 men: 376 and pursued y1692 z8686 hard x1692 after 310 them vnto x5704 Gidom, 1440 and slew 5221 z8686 two thousand 505 men 376 of x4480 them.

 20:46 So that all x3605 which fell 5307 z8802 that x1931 day 3117 of Beniamin, 1144 x4480 were x1961 twentie 6242 and fiue 2568 thousand 505 men 376 that drew 8025 z8802 the sword; 2719 x853 all x3605 these x428 [were] men y582 x376 of valour. 2428

 20:47 [But] sixe 8337 hundred 3967 men 376 turned 6437 z8799 and fledde 5127 z8799 to the wildernesse 4057 vnto x413 the rocke 5553 Rimmon, 7417 and abode 3427 z8799 in the rocke 5553 Rimmon 7417 foure 702 moneths. 2320
