1 David, in his last words, professeth his faith in God's promises to be beyond sense or experience. 6 The different state of the wicked. 8 A catalogue of David's mighty men.

 23:1 ¶ Now these x428 [be] the last 314 words 1697 of David. y1732 David 1732 the son 1121 of Jesse 3448 said, 5002 z8803 x1732 and the man 1397 [who was] raised up 6965 z8717 on high, 5920 the anointed 4899 of the God 430 of Jacob, 3290 and the sweet 5273 psalmist 2158 of Israel, 3478 said, 5002 z8803

 23:2 The Spirit 7307 of the LORD 3068 spake 1696 z8765 by me, and his word 4405 [was] in x5921 my tongue. 3956

 23:3 The God 430 of Israel 3478 said, 559 z8804 the Rock 6697 of Israel 3478 spake 1696 z8765 to me, He that ruleth y4910 z8802 over x4910 men 120 [must be] just, 6662 ruling 4910 z8802 in the fear 3374 of God. 430

 23:4 And [he shall be] as the light 216 of the morning, 1242 [when] the sun 8121 riseth, 2224 z8799 [even] a morning 1242 without 3808 clouds; 5645 [as] the tender grass 1877 [springing] out of the earth 776 x4480 by clear shining 5051 x4480 after rain. 4306 x4480

 23:5 Although x3588 my house 1004 [be] not x3808 so x3651 with x5973 God; 410 yet x3588 he hath made 7760 z8804 with me an everlasting 5769 covenant, 1285 ordered 6186 z8803 in all x3605 [things], and sure: 8104 z8803 for x3588 [this is] all x3605 my salvation, 3468 and all x3605 [my] desire, 2656 although x3588 he make [it] not x3808 to grow. 6779 z8686

 23:6 ¶ But [the sons] of Belial 1100 [shall be] all x3605 of them as thorns 6975 thrust away, 5074 z8716 because x3588 they cannot x3808 be taken 3947 z8799 with hands: 3027

 23:7 But the man 376 [that] shall touch 5060 z8799 them must be fenced 4390 z8735 with iron 1270 and the staff 6086 of a spear; 2595 and they shall be utterly y8313 z8800 burned 8313 z8735 with fire 784 in the [same] place. 7675 z8800

 23:8 ¶ These x428 [be] the names 8034 of the mighty men 1368 whom x834 David 1732 had: The Tachmonite 8461 that sat 3427 z8802 in the seat, 7675 z8800 z8677 y3429 chief 7218 among the captains; 7991 the same x1931 [was] Adino 5722 the Eznite: 6112 [he lift up his spear] against x5921 eight 8083 hundred, 3967 whom he slew 2491 at one 259 time. 6471

 23:9 And after 310 him [was] Eleazar 499 the son 1121 of Dodo 1734 the Ahohite, 266 x1121 [one] of the three 7969 mighty men 1368 with x5973 David, 1732 when they defied 2778 z8763 the Philistines 6430 [that] were there x8033 gathered together 622 z8738 to battle, 4421 and the men 376 of Israel 3478 were gone away: 5927 z8799

 23:14 And David 1732 [was] then x227 in an hold, 4686 and the garrison 4673 of the Philistines 6430 [was] then x227 [in] Bethlehem. 1035

 23:17 And he said, 559 z8799 Be it far 2486 from me, O LORD, 3068 that I should do 6213 z8800 x4480 this: x2063 [is not this] the blood 1818 of the men y582 x376 that went 1980 z8802 in jeopardy of their lives? 5315 therefore he would 14 z8804 not x3808 drink 8354 z8800 it.  23:18 And Abishai, 52 the brother 251 of Joab, 3097 the son 1121 of Zeruiah, 6870 was chief 7218 among three. 7992 And he x1931 lifted up 5782 z8790 x853 his spear 2595 against x5921 three 7969 hundred, 3967 [and] slew 2491 [them], and had the name 8034 among three. 7969

 23:19 Was he not x3588 most x4480 honourable 3513 z8737 of three? 7969 therefore he was x1961 their captain: 8269 howbeit he attained 935 z8804 not x3808 unto x5704 the [first] three. 7969
