Exodus 1

1 The children of Israel, after Joseph's death, do multiply. 8 The more they are oppressed by a new king, the more they multiply. 15 The godliness of the midwives, in saving the men children alive. 22 Pharaoh commandeth the male children to be cast into the river.

 1:1 ¶ Now these x428 [are] the names 8034 of the children 1121 of Israel, 3478 which came 935 z8802 into Egypt; 4714 every man 376 and his household 1004 came 935 z8804 with x854 Jacob. 3290

 1:2 Reuben, 7205 Simeon, 8095 Levi, 3878 and Judah, 3063

 1:3 Issachar, 3485 Zebulun, 2074 and Benjamin, 1144

 1:4 Dan, 1835 and Naphtali, 5321 Gad, 1410 and Asher. 836

 1:5 And all x3605 the souls 5315 that came out 3318 z8802 of the loins 3409 of Jacob 3290 were x1961 seventy 7657 souls: 5315 for Joseph 3130 was x1961 in Egypt 4714 [already].

 1:6 And Joseph 3130 died, 4191 z8799 and all x3605 his brethren, 251 and all x3605 that x1931 generation. 1755

 1:7 ¶ And the children 1121 of Israel 3478 were fruitful, 6509 z8804 and increased abundantly, 8317 z8799 and multiplied, 7235 z8799 and waxed exceeding 3966 mighty; 6105 3966 z8799 and the land 776 was filled 4390 z8735 with x854 them.

 1:8 Now there arose up 6965 z8799 a new 2319 king 4428 over x5921 Egypt, 4714 which x834 knew 3045 z8804 not x3808 x853 Joseph. 3130

 1:9 And he said 559 z8799 unto x413 his people, 5971 Behold, x2009 the people 5971 of the children 1121 of Israel 3478 [are] more 7227 and mightier 6099 than x4480 we:

 1:10 Come x3051 on, y3051 z8798 let us deal wisely 2449 z8691 with them; lest x6435 they multiply, 7235 z8799 and it come to pass, x1961 that, when x3588 there falleth out 7122 z8799 any war, 4421 they 1931 join 3254 z8738 also x1571 unto x5921 our enemies, 8130 z8802 and fight 3898 z8738 against us, and [so] get them up 5927 z8804 out of x4480 the land. 776

 1:11 Therefore they did set 7760 z8799 over x5921 them taskmasters 4522 8269 to x4616 afflict 6031 z8763 them with their burdens. 5450 And they built 1129 z8799 for Pharaoh 6547 treasure 4543 cities, 5892 x853 Pithom 6619 and Raamses. 7486

 1:12 But the more x834 they afflicted 6031 z8762 them, the more 3651 they multiplied 7235 z8799 and grew. 6555 z8799 x3651 And they were grieved 6973 z8799 because 6440 x4480 of the children 1121 of Israel. 3478

 1:13 And the Egyptians 4714 made y5647 z0 x853 the children 1121 of Israel 3478 to serve 5647 z8686 with rigour: 6531

 1:14 And they made y4843 z0 x853 their lives 2416 bitter 4843 z8762 with hard 7186 bondage, 5656 in morter, 2563 and in brick, 3843 and in all manner x3605 of service 5656 in the field: 7704 x853 all x3605 their service, 5656 wherein x834 they made them serve, 5647 z8804 [was] with rigour. 6531

 1:15 ¶ And the king 4428 of Egypt 4714 spake 559 z8799 to the Hebrew 5680 midwives, 3205 z8764 of which x834 the name 8034 of the one 259 [was] Shiphrah, 8236 and the name 8034 of the other 8145 Puah: 6326

 1:16 And he said, 559 z8799 When ye do the office of a midwife 3205 z8763 to x853 the Hebrew women, 5680 and see 7200 z8804 [them] upon x5921 the stools; 70 if x518 it x1931 [be] a son, 1121 then ye shall kill 4191 z8689 him: but if x518 it x1931 [be] a daughter, 1323 then she shall live. 2425 z8804

 1:17 But the midwives 3205 z8764 feared 3372 z8799 x853 God, 430 and did 6213 z8804 not x3808 as x834 the king 4428 of Egypt 4714 commanded 1696 z8765 x413 them, but saved 2421 z0 x853 the men children 3206 alive. y2421 z8762

 1:18 And the king 4428 of Egypt 4714 called y7121 z8799 for x7121 the midwives, 3205 z8764 and said 559 z8799 unto them, Why 4069 have ye done 6213 z8804 this x2088 thing, 1697 and have saved 2421 z0 x853 the men children 3206 alive? y2421 z8762

 1:19 And the midwives 3205 z8764 said 559 z8799 unto x413 Pharaoh, 6547 Because x3588 the Hebrew y5680 women y802 x5680 [are] not x3808 as the Egyptian x4713 women; y4713 x802 for x3588 they x2007 [are] lively, 2422 and are delivered 3205 z8804 ere 2962 the midwives 3205 z8764 come in 935 z8799 unto x413 them.

 1:20 Therefore God 430 dealt well 3190 z8686 with the midwives: 3205 z8764 and the people 5971 multiplied, 7235 z8799 and waxed very y3966 mighty. 6105 z8799 x3966

 1:21 And it came to pass, x1961 because x3588 the midwives 3205 z8764 feared 3372 z8804 x853 God, 430 that he made 6213 z8799 them houses. 1004

 1:22 And Pharaoh 6547 charged 6680 z8762 all x3605 his people, 5971 saying, 559 z8800 Every x3605 son 1121 that is born 3209 ye shall cast 7993 z8686 into the river, 2975 and every x3605 daughter 1323 ye shall save alive. 2421 z8762
