Isaiah 40

1 The promulgation of the Gospel. 3 The preaching of John the Baptist. 9 The preaching of the Apostles. 12 The prophet, by the omnipotency of God, 18 and his incomparableness, 26 comforteth the people.

 40:1 ¶ Comfort 5162 z8761 ye, comfort 5162 z8761 ye my people, 5971 saith 559 z8799 your God. 430

 40:2 Speak 1696 z8761 ye comfortably 3820 x5921 to Jerusalem, 3389 and cry 7121 z8798 unto x413 her, that x3588 her warfare 6635 is accomplished, 4390 z8804 that x3588 her iniquity 5771 is pardoned: 7521 z8738 for x3588 she hath received 3947 z8804 of the LORD's 3068 hand 3027 x4480 double 3718 for all x3605 her sins. 2403

 40:3 ¶ The voice 6963 of him that crieth 7121 z8802 in the wilderness, 4057 Prepare 6437 z8761 ye the way 1870 of the LORD, 3068 make straight 3474 z8761 in the desert 6160 a highway 4546 for our God. 430

 40:4 Every x3605 valley 1516 shall be exalted, 5375 z8735 and every x3605 mountain 2022 and hill 1389 shall be made low: 8213 z8799 and the crooked 6121 shall be made x1961 straight, 4334 and the rough places 7406 plain: 1237

 40:5 And the glory 3519 of the LORD 3068 shall be revealed, 1540 z8738 and all x3605 flesh 1320 shall see 7200 z8804 [it] together: 3162 for x3588 the mouth 6310 of the LORD 3068 hath spoken 1696 z8765 [it].

 40:6 The voice 6963 said, 559 z8802 Cry. 7121 z8798 And he said, 559 z8804 What x4100 shall I cry? 7121 z8799 All x3605 flesh 1320 [is] grass, 2682 and all x3605 the goodliness 2617 thereof [is] as the flower 6731 of the field: 7704

 40:7 The grass 2682 withereth, 3001 z8804 the flower 6731 fadeth: 5034 z8804 because x3588 the spirit 7307 of the LORD 3068 bloweth 5380 z8804 upon it: surely 403 the people 5971 [is] grass. 2682

 40:8 The grass 2682 withereth, 3001 z8804 the flower 6731 fadeth: 5034 z8804 but the word 1697 of our God 430 shall stand 6965 z8799 forever. 5769

 40:9 ¶ O Zion, 6726 that bringest good tidings, 1319 z8764 get thee up 5927 z8798 into x5921 the high 1364 mountain; 2022 O Jerusalem, 3389 that bringest good tidings, 1319 z8764 lift up 7311 z8685 thy voice 6963 with strength; 3581 lift [it] up, 7311 z8685 be not afraid; 3372 z8799 x408 say 559 z8798 unto the cities 5892 of Judah, 3063 Behold x2009 your God! 430

 40:10 Behold, x2009 the Lord 136 GOD 3069 will come 935 z8799 with strong 2389 [hand], and his arm 2220 shall rule 4910 z8802 for him: behold, x2009 his reward 7939 [is] with x854 him, and his work 6468 before 6440 him.

 40:11 He shall feed 7462 z8799 his flock 5739 like a shepherd: 7462 z8802 he shall gather 6908 z8762 the lambs 2922 with his arm, 2220 and carry 5375 z8799 [them] in his bosom, 2436 [and] shall gently lead 5095 z8762 those that are with young. 5763 z8802

 40:12 ¶ Who x4310 hath measured 4058 z8804 the waters 4325 in the hollow of his hand, 8168 and meted out 8505 z8765 heaven 8064 with the span, 2239 and comprehended 3557 z8804 the dust 6083 of the earth 776 in a measure, 7991 and weighed 8254 z8804 the mountains 2022 in scales, 6425 and the hills 1389 in a balance? 3976

 40:13 Who x4310 hath directed 8505 z8765 x853 the Spirit 7307 of the LORD, 3068 or [being] his counselor 376 6098 hath taught 3045 z8686 him?

 40:14 x853 With whom x4310 took he counsel, 3289 z8738 and [who] instructed 995 z8799 him, and taught 3925 z8762 him in the path 734 of judgment, 4941 and taught 3925 z8762 him knowledge, 1847 and showed 3045 z8686 to him the way 1870 of understanding? 8394

 40:15 Behold, x2005 the nations 1471 [are] as a drop 4752 of a bucket, 1805 x4480 and are counted 2803 z8738 as the small dust 7834 of the balance: 3976 behold, x2005 he taketh up 5190 z8799 the isles 339 as a very little thing. 1851

 40:16 And Lebanon 3844 [is] not 369 sufficient 1767 to burn, 1197 z8763 nor x369 the beasts 2416 thereof sufficient 1767 for a burnt offering. 5930

 40:17 All x3605 nations 1471 before x5048 him [are] as nothing; x369 and they are counted 2803 z8738 to him less than nothing, 657 x4480 and vanity. 8414

 40:18 ¶ To x413 whom x4310 then will ye liken 1819 z8762 God? 410 or what x4100 likeness 1823 will ye compare 6186 z8799 unto him?

 40:19 The workman 2796 melteth 5258 z8804 a graven image, 6459 and the goldsmith 6884 z8802 spreadeth y7554 z8762 it over x7554 with gold, 2091 and casteth 6884 z8802 silver 3701 chains. 7577

 40:20 He that [is] so impoverished 5533 z8794 z8676 y5534 z8765 that he hath no oblation 8641 chooseth 977 z8799 a tree 6086 [that] will not x3808 rot; 7537 z8799 he seeketh 1245 z8762 unto him a cunning 2450 workman 2796 to prepare 3559 z8687 a graven image, 6459 [that] shall not x3808 be moved. 4131 z8735

 40:26 Lift up 5375 z8798 your eyes 5869 on high, 4791 and behold 7200 z8798 who x4310 hath created 1254 z8804 these x428 [things], that bringeth out 3318 z8688 their host 6635 by number: 4557 he calleth 7121 z8799 them all x3605 by names 8034 by the greatness 7230 x4480 of his might, 202 for that [he is] strong 533 in power; 3581 not x3808 one 376 faileth. 5737 z8738

 40:27 Why x4100 sayest 559 z8799 thou, O Jacob, 3290 and speakest, 1696 z8762 O Israel, 3478 My way 1870 is hid 5641 z8738 from the LORD, 3068 x4480 and my judgment 4941 is passed over 5674 z8799 from my God? 430 x4480

 40:28 ¶ Hast thou not x3808 known? 3045 z8804 hast thou not x3808 heard, 8085 z8804 [that] the everlasting 5769 God, 430 the LORD, 3068 the Creator 1254 z8802 of the ends 7098 of the earth, 776 fainteth 3286 z8799 not, x3808 neither x3808 is weary? 3021 z8799 [there is] no x369 searching 2714 of his understanding. 8394

 40:29 He giveth 5414 z8802 power 3581 to the faint; 3287 and to [them that have] no x369 might 202 he increaseth 7235 z8686 strength. 6109

 40:30 Even the youths 5288 shall faint 3286 z8799 and be weary, 3021 z8799 and the young men 970 shall utterly y3782 z8800 fall: 3782 z8735
