Judges 6

1 The Israelites for their sin are oppressed by Midian. 8 A prophet rebuketh them. 11 An angel sendeth Gideon for their deliverance. 17 Gideon's present is consumed with fire. 25 Gideon destroyeth Baal's altar, and offereth a sacrifice upon the altar JEHOVAH-shalom. 28 Joash defendeth his son, and calleth him Jerubbaal. 33 Gideon's army. 36 Gideon's signs.

 6:1 ¶ And the children 1121 of Israel 3478 did 6213 z8799 evil 7451 in the sight 5869 of the LORD: 3068 and the LORD 3068 delivered 5414 z8799 them into the hand 3027 of Midian 4080 seven 7651 years. 8141

 6:2 And the hand 3027 of Midian 4080 prevailed 5810 z8799 against x5921 Israel: 3478 [and] because 6440 x4480 of the Midianites 4080 the children 1121 of Israel 3478 made 6213 z8804 them x853 the dens 4492 which x834 [are] in the mountains, 2022 and caves, 4631 and strong holds. 4679

 6:3 And [so] it was, x1961 when x518 Israel 3478 had sown, 2232 z8804 that the Midianites 4080 came up, 5927 z8804 and the Amalekites, y6002 x6003 and the children 1121 of the east, 6924 even they came up 5927 z8804 against x5921 them;

 6:4 And they encamped 2583 z8799 against x5921 them, and destroyed 7843 z8686 x853 the increase 2981 of the earth, 776 till x5704 thou come 935 z8800 unto Gaza, 5804 and left 7604 z8686 no x3808 sustenance 4241 for Israel, 3478 neither sheep, 7716 nor ox, 7794 nor ass. 2543

 6:5 For x3588 they x1992 came up 5927 z8799 with their cattle 4735 and their tents, 168 and they came 935 z8804 z8675 z8799 as y1767 x1992 grasshoppers 697 for multitude; 7230 [for] both they x1992 and their camels 1581 were without x369 number: 4557 and they entered 935 z8799 into the land 776 to destroy 7843 z8763 it.

 6:6 And Israel 3478 was greatly 3966 impoverished 1809 z8735 because 6440 x4480 of the Midianites; 4080 and the children 1121 of Israel 3478 cried 2199 z8799 unto x413 the LORD. 3068

 6:7 ¶ And it came to pass, x1961 when x3588 the children 1121 of Israel 3478 cried 2199 z8804 unto x413 the LORD 3068 because y182 of x5921 x182 the Midianites, 4080

 6:8 That the LORD 3068 sent 7971 z8799 a prophet 5030 y376 unto x413 the children 1121 of Israel, 3478 which said 559 z8799 unto them, Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the LORD 3068 God 430 of Israel, 3478 I x595 brought you up 5927 z8689 x853 from Egypt, 4714 x4480 and brought you forth 3318 z8686 x853 out of the house 1004 x4480 of bondage; 5650

 6:9 And I delivered 5337 z8686 you out of the hand 3027 x4480 of the Egyptians, 4714 and out of the hand 3027 x4480 of all x3605 that oppressed 3905 z8801 you, and drave them out 1644 z8762 x853 from before 6440 x4480 you, and gave 5414 z8799 you x853 their land; 776

 6:10 And I said 559 z8799 unto you, I x589 [am] the LORD 3068 your God; 430 fear 3372 z8799 not x3808 x853 the gods 430 of the Amorites, 567 in whose x834 land 776 ye x859 dwell: 3427 z8802 but ye have not x3808 obeyed 8085 z8804 my voice. 6963

 6:11 ¶ And there came 935 z8799 an angel 4397 of the LORD, 3068 and sat 3427 z8799 under x8478 an oak 424 which x834 [was] in Ophrah, 6084 that x834 [pertained] unto Joash 3101 the Abiezrite: 33 and his son 1121 Gideon 1439 threshed 2251 z8802 wheat 2406 by the winepress, 1660 to hide 5127 z8687 [it] from 6440 x4480 the Midianites. 4080

 6:12 And the angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 appeared 7200 z8735 unto x413 him, and said 559 z8799 unto x413 him, The LORD 3068 [is] with x5973 thee, thou mighty y1368 man x1368 of valour. 2428

 6:13 And Gideon 1439 said 559 z8799 unto x413 him, Oh 994 my Lord, 113 if y3426 the LORD 3068 be x3426 with x5973 us, why x4100 then is all x3605 this x2063 befallen 4672 z8804 us? and where x346 [be] all x3605 his miracles 6381 z8737 which x834 our fathers 1 told 5608 z8765 us of, saying, 559 z8800 Did not x3808 the LORD 3068 bring us up 5927 z8689 from Egypt? 4714 x4480 but now x6258 the LORD 3068 hath forsaken 5203 z8804 us, and delivered 5414 z8799 us into the hands 3709 of the Midianites. 4080

 6:14 And the LORD 3068 looked 6437 z8799 upon x413 him, and said, 559 z8799 Go y3212 z8798 in x1980 this x2088 thy might, 3581 and thou shalt save 3467 z8689 x853 Israel 3478 from the hand 3709 x4480 of the Midianites: 4080 have not x3808 I sent 7971 z8804 thee?

 6:15 And he said 559 z8799 unto x413 him, Oh 994 my Lord, 136 wherewith 4100 shall I save 3467 z8686 x853 Israel? 3478 behold, x2009 my family 504 z8676 y505 [is] poor 1800 in Manasseh, 4519 and I x595 [am] the least 6810 in my father's 1 house. 1004

 6:16 And the LORD 3068 said 559 z8799 unto x413 him, Surely x3588 I will be x1961 with x5973 thee, and thou shalt smite 5221 z8689 x853 the Midianites 4080 as one 259 man. 376

 6:17 And he said 559 z8799 unto x413 him, If x518 now x4994 I have found 4672 z8804 grace 2580 in thy sight, 5869 then shew 6213 z8804 me a sign 226 that thou x7945 x859 talkest 1696 z8764 with x5973 me.

 6:18 Depart 4185 z8799 not x408 hence, x4480 x2088 I pray thee, x4994 until x5704 I come 935 z8800 unto x413 thee, and bring forth 3318 z8689 x853 my present, 4503 and set y3240 z8689 x5117 [it] before 6440 thee. And he said, 559 z8799 I x595 will tarry 3427 z8799 until x5704 thou come again. 7725 z8800

 6:19 ¶ And Gideon 1439 went in, 935 z8804 and made ready 6213 z8799 a kid, 5795 1423 and unleavened cakes 4682 of an ephah 374 of flour: 7058 the flesh 1320 he put 7760 z8804 in a basket, 5536 and he put 7760 z8804 the broth 4839 in a pot, 6517 and brought [it] out 3318 z8686 unto x413 him under x413 x8478 the oak, 424 and presented 5066 z8686 [it].

 6:20 And the angel 4397 of God 430 said 559 z8799 unto x413 him, Take 3947 z8798 x853 the flesh 1320 and the unleavened cakes, 4682 and lay y3240 z8685 x5117 [them] upon x413 this 1975 rock, 5553 and pour out 8210 z8798 the broth. 4839 And he did 6213 z8799 so. x3651

 6:21 ¶ Then the angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 put forth 7971 z8799 x853 the end 7097 of the staff 4938 that x834 [was] in his hand, 3027 and touched 5060 z8799 the flesh 1320 and the unleavened cakes; 4682 and there rose up 5927 z8799 fire 784 out of x4480 the rock, 6697 and consumed 398 z8799 x853 the flesh 1320 and the unleavened cakes. 4682 Then the angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 departed 1980 z8804 out of his sight. 5869 x4480

 6:22 And when Gideon 1439 perceived 7200 z8799 that x3588 he x1931 [was] an angel 4397 of the LORD, 3068 Gideon 1439 said, 559 z8799 Alas, 162 O Lord 136 GOD! 3069 for x3588 because 3651 x5921 I have seen 7200 z8804 an angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 face 6440 to x413 face. 6440

 6:23 And the LORD 3068 said 559 z8799 unto him, Peace 7965 [be] unto thee; fear 3372 z8799 not: x408 thou shalt not x3808 die. 4191 z8799

 6:24 Then Gideon 1439 built 1129 z8799 an altar 4196 there x8033 unto the LORD, 3068 and called 7121 z8799 it Jehovahshalom: 3073 unto x5704 this x2088 day 3117 it [is] yet x5750 in Ophrah 6084 of the Abiezrites. 33

 6:25 ¶ And it came to pass x1961 the same x1931 night, 3915 that the LORD 3068 said 559 z8799 unto him, Take 3947 z8798 x853 thy father's 1 young y6499 bullock, 7794 x6499 even the second 8145 bullock 6499 of seven 7651 years x8141 old, y8141 and throw down 2040 z8804 x853 the altar 4196 of Baal 1168 that x834 thy father 1 hath, and cut down 3772 z8799 the grove 842 that x834 [is] by x5921 it:

 6:26 And build 1129 z8804 an altar 4196 unto the LORD 3068 thy God 430 upon x5921 the top 7218 of this x2088 rock, 4581 in the ordered place, 4634 and take 3947 z8804 x853 the second 8145 bullock, 6499 and offer 5927 z8689 a burnt sacrifice 5930 with the wood 6086 of the grove 842 which x834 thou shalt cut down. 3772 z8799

 6:27 Then Gideon 1439 took 3947 z8799 ten 6235 men y582 x376 of his servants, 5650 x4480 and did 6213 z8799 as x834 the LORD 3068 had said 1696 z8765 unto x413 him: and [so] it was, x1961 because x834 he feared 3372 z8804 x853 his father's 1 household, 1004 and the men y582 x376 of the city, 5892 that he could not do 6213 z8800 x4480 [it] by day, 3119 that he did 6213 z8799 [it] by night. 3915

 6:28 ¶ And when the men y582 x376 of the city 5892 arose early 7925 z8686 in the morning, 1242 behold, x2009 the altar 4196 of Baal 1168 was cast down, 5422 z8795 and the grove 842 was cut down 3772 z8795 that x834 [was] by x5921 it, and the second 8145 bullock 6499 was offered 5927 z8717 upon x5921 the altar 4196 [that was] built. 1129 z8803

 6:29 And they said 559 z8799 one 376 to x413 another, 7453 Who x4310 hath done 6213 z8804 this x2088 thing? 1697 And when they enquired 1875 z8799 and asked, 1245 z8762 they said, 559 z8799 Gideon 1439 the son 1121 of Joash 3101 hath done 6213 z8804 this x2088 thing. 1697

 6:30 Then the men y582 x376 of the city 5892 said 559 z8799 unto x413 Joash, 3101 Bring out 3318 z8685 x853 thy son, 1121 that he may die: 4191 z8799 because x3588 he hath cast down 5422 z8804 x853 the altar 4196 of Baal, 1168 and because x3588 he hath cut down 3772 z8804 the grove 842 that x834 [was] by x5921 it.

 6:31 And Joash 3101 said 559 z8799 unto all x3605 that x834 stood 5975 z8804 against x5921 him, Will ye x859 plead 7378 z8799 for Baal? 1168 will ye x859 save 3467 z8686 him? he that x834 will plead 7378 z8799 for him, let him be put to death 4191 z8714 whilst x5704 [it is yet] morning: 1242 if x518 he x1931 [be] a god, 430 let him plead 7378 z8799 for himself, because x3588 [one] hath cast down 5422 z8804 x853 his altar. 4196

 6:32 Therefore on that x1931 day 3117 he called 7121 z8799 him Jerubbaal, 3378 saying, 559 z8800 Let Baal 1168 plead 7378 z8799 against him, because x3588 he hath thrown down 5422 z8804 x853 his altar. 4196

 6:33 ¶ Then all x3605 the Midianites 4080 and the Amalekites y6002 x6003 and the children 1121 of the east 6924 were gathered 622 z8738 together, 3162 and went over, 5674 z8799 and pitched 2583 z8799 in the valley 6010 of Jezreel. 3157

 6:34 But the Spirit 7307 of the LORD 3068 came y3847 z8804 upon x3847 x853 Gideon, 1439 and he blew 8628 z8799 a trumpet; 7782 and Abiezer 44 was gathered 2199 z8735 after 310 him.

 6:35 And he sent 7971 z8804 messengers 4397 throughout all x3605 Manasseh; 4519 who x1931 also x1571 was gathered 2199 z8735 after 310 him: and he sent 7971 z8804 messengers 4397 unto Asher, 836 and unto Zebulun, 2074 and unto Naphtali; 5321 and they came up 5927 z8799 to meet 7125 z8800 them.

 6:36 ¶ And Gideon 1439 said 559 z8799 unto x413 God, 430 If x518 thou x3426 wilt y3426 save 3467 z8688 x853 Israel 3478 by mine hand, 3027 as x834 thou hast said, 1696 z8765

 6:37 Behold, x2009 I x595 will put 3322 z8688 x853 a fleece 1492 of wool 6785 in the floor; 1637 [and] if x518 the dew 2919 be x1961 on x5921 the fleece 1492 only, x905 and [it be] dry 2721 upon x5921 all x3605 the earth 776 [beside], then shall I know 3045 z8804 that x3588 thou wilt save 3467 z8686 x853 Israel 3478 by mine hand, 3027 as x834 thou hast said. 1696 z8765

 6:38 And it was x1961 so: x3651 for he rose up early 7925 z8686 on the morrow, 4283 x4480 and thrust 2115 z0 x853 the fleece 1492 together, 2115 z8799 and wringed 4680 z8799 the dew 2919 out of x4480 the fleece, 1492 a bowl 5602 full y4393 x4392 of water. 4325

 6:39 And Gideon 1439 said 559 z8799 unto x413 God, 430 Let not x408 thine anger 639 be hot 2734 z8799 against me, and I will speak 1696 z8762 but x389 this once: 6471 let me prove, 5254 z8762 I pray thee, x4994 but x7535 this once 6471 with the fleece; 1492 let it now x4994 be x1961 dry 2721 only x905 upon x413 the fleece, 1492 and upon x5921 all x3605 the ground 776 let there be x1961 dew. 2919

 6:40 And God 430 did 6213 z8799 so x3651 that x1931 night: 3915 for it was x1961 dry 2721 upon x413 the fleece 1492 only, x905 and there was x1961 dew 2919 on x5921 all x3605 the ground. 776
