1 Moab rebelleth. 2 Ahaziah, sending to Baal-zebub, hath his judgment by Elijah. 5 Elijah twice bringeth fire from heaven upon them whom Ahaziah sent to apprehend him. 13 He pitieth the third captian, and, encouraged by an angel, telleth the king of his death. 17 Jehoram succeedeth Ahaziah.

 1:1 ¶ Then Moab 4124 rebelled 6586 z8799 against Israel 3478 after 310 the death 4194 of Ahab. 256

 1:2 And Ahaziah 274 fell down 5307 z8799 through x1157 a lattice 7639 in his upper chamber 5944 that x834 [was] in Samaria, 8111 and was sick: 2470 z8799 and he sent 7971 z8799 messengers, 4397 and said 559 z8799 unto x413 them, Go, y3212 z8798 x1980 enquire 1875 z8798 of Baalzebub 1176 the god 430 of Ekron 6138 whether x518 I shall recover 2421 z8799 of this disease. 2483 x4480 x2088

 1:3 But the angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 said 1696 z8765 to x413 Elijah 452 the Tishbite, 8664 Arise, 6965 z8798 go up 5927 z8798 to meet 7125 z8800 the messengers 4397 of the king 4428 of Samaria, 8111 and say 1696 z8761 unto x413 them, [Is it] not because x4480 x1097 [there is] not x369 a God 430 in Israel, 3478 [that] ye x859 go 1980 z8802 to enquire 1875 z8800 of Baalzebub 1176 the god 430 of Ekron? 6138

 1:4 Now therefore x3651 thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the LORD, 3068 Thou shalt not x3808 come down 3381 z8799 from x4480 that bed 4296 on which x834 x8033 thou art gone up, 5927 z8804 but x3588 shalt surely y4191 z8800 die. 4191 z8799 And Elijah 452 departed. y3212 z8799 x1980

 1:5 ¶ And when the messengers 4397 turned back 7725 z8799 unto x413 him, he said 559 z8799 unto x413 them, Why x4100 are ye now 2088 turned back? 7725 z8804

 1:6 And they said 559 z8799 unto x413 him, There came 5927 z0 a man 376 up 5927 z8804 to meet 7125 z8800 us, and said 559 z8799 unto x413 us, Go, y3212 z8798 x1980 turn again 7725 z8798 unto x413 the king 4428 that x834 sent 7971 z8804 you, and say 1696 z8765 unto x413 him, Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the LORD, 3068 [Is it] not because x4480 x1097 [there is] not x369 a God 430 in Israel, 3478 [that] thou x859 sendest 7971 z8802 to enquire 1875 z8800 of Baalzebub 1176 the god 430 of Ekron? 6138 therefore x3651 thou shalt not x3808 come down 3381 z8799 from x4480 that bed 4296 on which x834 x8033 thou art gone up, 5927 z8804 but x3588 shalt surely y4191 z8800 die. 4191 z8799

 1:7 And he said 1696 z8762 unto x413 them, What x4100 manner 4941 of man 376 [was he] which x834 came up 5927 z8804 to meet 7125 z8800 you, and told 1696 z8762 x413 you x853 these x428 words? 1697

 1:8 And they answered 559 z8799 x413 him, [He was] an hairy y8181 man, 1167 376 x8181 and girt 247 z8803 with a girdle 232 of leather 5785 about his loins. 4975 And he said, 559 z8799 It x1931 [is] Elijah 452 the Tishbite. 8664

 1:9 Then the king y4428 sent 7971 z8799 unto x413 him a captain 8269 of fifty 2572 with his fifty. 2572 And he went up 5927 z8799 to x413 him: and, behold, x2009 he sat 3427 z8802 on x5921 the top 7218 of an hill. 2022 And he spake 1696 z8762 unto x413 him, Thou man 376 of God, 430 the king 4428 hath said, 1696 z8765 Come down. 3381 z8798

 1:10 And Elijah 452 answered 6030 z8799 and said 1696 z8762 to x413 the captain 8269 of fifty, 2572 If x518 I x589 [be] a man 376 of God, 430 then let fire 784 come down 3381 z8799 from x4480 heaven, 8064 and consume 398 z8799 thee and thy fifty. 2572 And there came down 3381 z8799 fire 784 from x4480 heaven, 8064 and consumed 398 z8799 him and his fifty. 2572

 1:11 Again 7725 z8799 also he sent 7971 z8799 unto x413 him another 312 captain 8269 of fifty 2572 with his fifty. 2572 And he answered 6030 z8799 and said 1696 z8762 unto x413 him, O man 376 of God, 430 thus x3541 hath the king 4428 said, 559 z8804 Come down 3381 z8798 quickly. 4120

 1:12 And Elijah 452 answered 6030 z8799 and said 1696 z8762 unto x413 them, If x518 I x589 [be] a man 376 of God, 430 let fire 784 come down 3381 z8799 from x4480 heaven, 8064 and consume 398 z8799 thee and thy fifty. 2572 And the fire 784 of God 430 came down 3381 z8799 from x4480 heaven, 8064 and consumed 398 z8799 him and his fifty. 2572

 1:13 ¶ And he sent 7971 z8799 again 7725 z8799 a captain 8269 of the third 7992 fifty 2572 with his fifty. 2572 And the third 7992 captain 8269 of fifty 2572 went up, 5927 z8799 and came 935 z8799 and fell 3766 z8799 on x5921 his knees 1290 before 5048 Elijah, 452 and besought 2603 z8691 x413 him, and said 1696 z8762 unto x413 him, O man 376 of God, 430 I pray thee, x4994 let my life, 5315 and the life 5315 of these x428 fifty 2572 thy servants, 5650 be precious 3365 z8799 in thy sight. 5869

 1:14 Behold, x2009 there came y3381 z0 fire y784 down 3381 z8804 x784 from x4480 heaven, 8064 and burnt up 398 z8799 x853 the two 8147 captains 8269 of the former 7223 fifties 2572 with their fifties: 2572 therefore let my life 5315 now x6258 be precious 3365 z8799 in thy sight. 5869

 1:15 And the angel 4397 of the LORD 3068 said 1696 z8762 unto x413 Elijah, 452 Go down 3381 z8798 with x854 him: be not afraid 3372 z8799 x408 of x4480 x6440 him. y6440 And he arose, 6965 z8799 and went down 3381 z8799 with x854 him unto x413 the king. 4428

 1:16 And he said 1696 z8762 unto x413 him, Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the LORD, 3068 Forasmuch as x3282 x834 thou hast sent 7971 z8804 messengers 4397 to enquire 1875 z8800 of Baalzebub 1176 the god 430 of Ekron, 6138 [is it] not because x4480 x1097 [there is] no x369 God 430 in Israel 3478 to enquire 1875 z8800 of his word? 1697 therefore x3651 thou shalt not x3808 come down 3381 z8799 off x4480 that bed 4296 on which x834 x8033 thou art gone up, 5927 z8804 but x3588 shalt surely y4191 z8800 die. 4191 z8799

 1:17 ¶ So he died 4191 z8799 according to the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 which x834 Elijah 452 had spoken. 1696 z8765 And Jehoram 3088 reigned 4427 z8799 in his stead x8478 in the second 8147 year 8141 of Jehoram 3088 the son 1121 of Jehoshaphat 3092 king 4428 of Judah; 3063 because x3588 he had x1961 no x3808 son. 1121
