Nehemiah 13

1 Upon the reading of the Law, separation is made from the mixed multitude. 4 Nehemiah at his return causeth the chambers to be cleansed. 10 He reformeth the offices in the house of God. 15 The violation of the Sabbath, 23 and the marriages with strange wives.

 13:1 ¶ On that x1931 day 3117 they read 7121 z8738 in the booke 5612 of Moses 4872 in the audience 241 of the people, 5971 and therein was found 4672 z8738 written, 3789 z8803 that x834 the Ammonite 5984 and the Moabite 4125 should not x3808 come 935 z8799 into the Congregation 6951 of God 430 for y5704 euer, 5769 x5704

 13:2 Because x3588 they met 6923 z8765 not x3808 x853 the children 1121 of Israel 3478 with bread, 3899 and with water, 4325 but hired 7936 z8799 x853 Balaam 1109 against x5921 them, that he should curse 7043 z8763 them: howbeit our God 430 turned 2015 z8799 the curse 7045 into a blessing. 1293

 13:3 Now it came to passe x1961 when they had heard 8085 z8800 x853 the law, 8451 that they separated 914 z8686 from Israel 3478 x4480 all x3605 the mixed multitude. 6154

 13:4 ¶ And before 6440 this x4480 x2088 Eliashib 475 the priest 3548 hauing the ouersight 5414 z8803 of the chamber 3957 of the house 1004 of our God, 430 was allied 7138 vnto Tobiah: 2900

 13:5 And hee had prepared 6213 z8799 for him a great 1419 chamber, 3957 where x8033 aforetime 6440 x1961 they laid 5414 z8802 x853 the meat offrings, 4503 the frankincense 3828 and the vessels, 3627 and the tithes 4643 of the corne, 1715 the new wine, 8492 and the oile, 3323 which was commanded 4687 [to be giuen to] the Leuites, 3881 and the singers, 7891 z8789 and the porters, 7778 and the offerings 8641 of the priests. 3548

 13:6 But in all x3605 this x2088 [time] was x1961 not x3808 I at Ierusalem: 3389 for x3588 in the two 8147 and thirtieth 7970 yeere 8141 of Artaxerxes 783 king 4428 of Babylon, 894 came 935 z8804 I vnto x413 the king, 4428 and after 7093 certaine dayes, 3117 obtained I leaue 7592 z8738 of x4480 the King: 4428

 13:7 And I came 935 z8799 to Ierusalem, 3389 and vnderstood 995 z8799 of the euil 7451 that x834 Eliashib 475 did 6213 z8804 for Tobiah, 2900 in preparing 6213 z8800 him a chamber 5393 in the courts 2691 of the house 1004 of God. 430

 13:8 And it grieued y3415 z8799 x7489 me sore, 3966 therefore I cast foorth 7993 z8686 x853 all x3605 the houshold 1004 stuffe 3627 of Tobiah 2900 out x2351 of y2351 x4480 the chamber: 3957

 13:9 Then I commanded, 559 z8799 and they cleansed 2891 z8762 the chambers, 3957 and thither x8033 brought I againe 7725 z8686 the vessels 3627 of the house 1004 of God, 430 with x854 the meate offering, 4503 and the frankincense. 3828

 13:10 ¶ And I perceiued 3045 z8799 that x3588 the portions 4521 of the Leuites 3881 had not x3808 beene giuen 5414 z8738 [them]: for the Leuites 3881 and the singers 7891 z8789 that did 6213 z8802 the worke, 4399 were fled 1272 z8799 euery one 376 to his field. 7704

 13:11 Then contended 7378 z8799 I with x854 the rulers, 5461 and said, 559 z8799 Why x4069 is the house 1004 of God 430 forsaken? 5800 z8738 And I gathered them together, 6908 z8762 and set 5975 z8686 them in x5921 their place. 5977

 13:12 Then brought 935 z8689 all x3605 Iudah 3063 the tithe 4643 of the corne, 1715 and the new wine, 8492 and the oyle, 3323 vnto the treasuries. 214

 13:13 And I made treasurers 686 z8799 ouer x5921 the treasuries, 214 Shelemiah 8018 the priest, 3548 and Zadok 6659 the scribe, 5608 z8802 and of x4480 the Leuites, 3881 Pedaiah: 6305 and next to x5921 x3027 them y3027 [was] Hanan 2605 the sonne 1121 of Zaccur, 2139 the sonne 1121 of Mattaniah: 4983 for x3588 they were counted 2803 z8738 faithfull, 539 z8737 and their office x5921 was to distribute 2505 z8800 vnto their brethren. 251

 13:14 Remember 2142 z8798 me, O my God, 430 concerning x5921 this, x2063 and wipe not out 4229 z8686 x408 my good y2617 deeds, x2617 that x834 I haue done 6213 z8804 for the house 1004 of my God, 430 and for the offices 4929 thereof.

 13:15 ¶ In those x1992 dayes 3117 sawe 7200 z8804 I in Iudah, 3063 [some] treading 1869 z8802 wine presses 1660 on the Sabbath, 7676 and bringing in 935 z8688 sheaues, 6194 and lading 6006 z8802 x5921 asses, 2543 as also x637 wine, 3196 grapes, 6025 and figs, 8384 and all x3605 [maner] of burdens, 4853 which they brought y935 z8688 into x935 Ierusalem 3389 on the Sabbath 7676 day: 3117 and I testified 5749 z8686 against them in the day 3117 wherein they solde 4376 z8800 victuals. 6718

 13:16 There dwelt 3427 z8804 men of Tyre 6876 also therein, which brought 935 z8688 fish 1709 z8675 and all x3605 maner of ware, 4377 and solde 4376 z8802 on the Sabbath 7676 vnto the children 1121 of Iudah, 3063 and in Ierusalem. 3389

 13:17 Then I contended 7378 z8799 with x854 the Nobles 2715 of Iudah, 3063 and sayd 559 z8799 vnto them, What x4100 euill 7451 thing 1697 is this x2088 that x834 ye x859 doe, 6213 z8802 and profane 2490 z8764 x853 the Sabbath 7676 day? 3117

 13:18 Did 6213 z8804 not x3808 your fathers 1 thus, x3541 and did y935 z0 not our God 430 bring 935 z8686 x853 all x3605 this x2063 euill 7451 vpon x5921 vs, and vpon x5921 this x2063 citie? 5892 yet ye x859 bring y935 z8686 more 3254 z8688 wrath 2740 vpon x5921 Israel, 3478 by profaning 2490 z8763 x853 the Sabbath. 7676

 13:19 And it came to passe, x1961 that when x834 the gates 8179 of Ierusalem 3389 beganne to be darke 6751 z8804 before 6440 the Sabbath, 7676 I commanded 559 z8799 that the gates 1817 should be shut, 5462 z8735 and charged 559 z8799 that x834 they should not x3808 be opened 6605 z8799 till x5704 after 310 the Sabbath: 7676 and some of my seruants 5288 x4480 set 5975 z8689 I at x5921 the gates, 8179 [that] there should no x3808 burden 4853 be brought in 935 z8799 on the Sabbath 7676 day. 3117

 13:20 So the merchants, 7402 z8802 and sellers 4376 z8802 of all x3605 kinde of ware, 4465 lodged 3885 z8799 without 2351 x4480 Ierusalem 3389 once 6471 or twice. 8147

 13:21 Then I testified 5749 z8686 against them, and said 559 z8799 vnto x413 them, Why x4069 lodge 3885 z8801 yee x859 about 5048 the wall? 2346 If x518 ye doe [so] againe, 8138 z8799 I will lay 7971 z8799 hands 3027 on you. From x4480 that x1931 time 6256 forth came 935 z8804 they no x3808 [more] on the Sabbath. 7676

 13:22 And I commanded 559 z8799 the Leuites, 3881 that x834 they should x1961 cleanse y2891 z8693 themselues, x2891 and that they should come 935 z8802 and keepe 8104 z8802 the gates, 8179 to sanctifie 6942 z8763 x853 the Sabbath 7676 day: 3117 Remember 2142 z8798 me, O my God, 430 [concerning] this x2063 also, x1571 and spare 2347 z8798 x5921 me, according to the greatnesse 7230 of thy mercie. 2617

 13:23 ¶ In those x1992 dayes 3117 also x1571 sawe 7200 z8804 I x853 Iewes 3064 [that] had maried 3427 z8689 wiues 802 of Ashdod, 796 of Ammon, 5984 [and] of Moab: 4125

 13:24 And their children 1121 spake 1696 z8764 halfe 2677 in the speech of Ashdod, 797 and could 5234 z8688 not x369 speake 1696 z8763 in the Iewes language, 3066 but according to the language 3956 of ech 5971 people. 5971

 13:25 And I contended 7378 z8799 with x5973 them, and cursed 7043 z8762 them, and smote 5221 z8686 certeine y582 x376 of x4480 them, and pluckt off their haire, 4803 z8799 and made them sweare 7650 z8686 by God, 430 [saying], Yee shall not x518 giue 5414 z8799 your daughters 1323 vnto their sonnes, 1121 nor x518 take 5375 z8799 their daughters 1323 x4480 vnto your sonnes, 1121 or for your selues.

 13:26 Did not x3808 Solomon 8010 king 4428 of Israel 3478 sinne 2398 z8804 by x5921 these things? x428 yet among many 7227 nations 1471 was x1961 there no x3808 king 4428 like him, x3644 who was x1961 beloued 157 z8803 of his God, 430 and God 430 made 5414 z8799 him king 4428 ouer x5921 all x3605 Israel: 3478 neuerthelesse, x1571 euen him y1571 did outlandish 5237 women 802 cause to sinne. 2398 z8689

 13:27 Shall wee then hearken 8085 z8799 vnto you, to doe 6213 z8800 x853 all x3605 this x2063 great 1419 euill, 7451 to transgresse 4603 z8800 against our God, 430 in marrying 3427 z8687 strange 5237 wiues? 802

 13:28 And [one] of the sonnes 1121 x4480 of Ioiada, 3111 the sonne 1121 of Eliashib 475 the high 1419 Priest, 3548 [was] sonne in law 2860 to Sanballat 5571 the Horonite: 2772 therfore I chased 1272 z8686 him from x4480 x5921 me.

 13:29 Remember 2142 z8798 them, O my God, 430 because x5921 they haue defiled 1352 the Priesthood, 3550 and the couenant 1285 of the Priesthood, 3550 and of the Leuites. 3881

 13:30 Thus cleansed 2891 z8765 I them from all x4480 x3605 strangers, 5236 and appointed 5975 z8686 the wards 4931 of the Priests 3548 and the Leuites, 3881 euery one 376 in his businesse: 4399

 13:31 And for the wood-offering, 6086 7133 at times 6256 appointed, 2163 z8794 and for the first fruits. 1061 Remember 2142 z8798 me, O my God, 430 for good. 2896
