1 Rahab receiveth and concealeth the two spies sent from Shittim. 8 The covenant between her and them. 23 Their return and relation.

2:1 ¶ And Joshua 3091 the son 1121 of Nun 5126 sent 7971 z8799 out of x4480 Shittim 7851 two 8147 men y582 x376 to spy 7270 z8764 secretly, 2791 saying, 559 z8800 Go y3212 z8798 x1980 view 7200 z8798 x853 the land, 776 even Jericho. 3405 And they went, y3212 z8799 x1980 and came y935 z8799 into x935 a harlot's 2181 z8802 x802 house, 1004 y802 named 8034 Rahab, 7343 and lodged 7901 z8799 there. x8033

2:2 And it was told 559 z8735 the king 4428 of Jericho, 3405 saying, 559 z8800 Behold, x2009 there came 935 z8804 men y582 x376 in hither x2008 tonight 3915 of the children 1121 x4480 of Israel 3478 to search out 2658 z8800 x853 the country. 776

2:3 And the king 4428 of Jericho 3405 sent 7971 z8799 unto x413 Rahab, 7343 saying, 559 z8800 Bring forth 3318 z8685 the men y582 x376 that are come 935 z8802 to x413 thee, which x834 are entered 935 z8804 into thine house: 1004 for x3588 they be come 935 z8804 to search out 2658 z8800 x853 all x3605 the country. 776

2:4 And the woman 802 took 3947 z8799 x853 the two 8147 men, y582 x376 and hid 6845 z8799 them, and said 559 z8799 thus, x3651 There came 935 z8804 men y582 x376 unto x413 me, but I knew 3045 z8804 not x3808 whence 370 x4480 they x1992 [were]:

2:5 And it came to pass x1961 [about the time] of shutting 5462 z8800 of the gate, 8179 when it was dark, 2822 that the men y582 x376 went out: 3318 z8804 whither x575 the men y582 x376 went 1980 z8804 I know 3045 z8804 not: x3808 pursue 7291 z8798 after 310 them quickly; 4118 for x3588 ye shall overtake 5381 z8686 them.

2:6 But she x1931 had brought them up 5927 z8689 to the roof 1406 of the house, and hid 2934 z8799 them with the stalks 6086 of flax, 6593 which she had laid in order 6186 z8803 upon x5921 the roof. 1406

2:7 And the men y582 x376 pursued 7291 z8804 after 310 them the way 1870 to Jordan 3383 unto x5921 the fords: 4569 and as soon as x310 x834 they which pursued 7291 z8802 after 310 them were gone out, 3318 z8804 they shut 5462 z8804 the gate. 8179

2:8 ¶ And before x2962 they x1992 were laid down, 7901 z8799 she x1931 came up 5927 z8804 unto x5921 them upon x5921 the roof; 1406

2:9 And she said 559 z8799 unto x413 the men, y582 x376 I know 3045 z8804 that x3588 the LORD 3068 hath given 5414 z8804 you x853 the land, 776 and that x3588 your terror 367 is fallen 5307 z8804 upon x5921 us, and that x3588 all x3605 the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of the land 776 faint 4127 z8738 because y6440 of x4480 x6440 you.

2:10 For x3588 we have heard 8085 z8804 x853 how x834 the LORD 3068 dried up 3001 z8689 x853 the water 4325 of the Red 5488 sea 3220 for x4480 x6440 you, y6440 when ye came out 3318 z8800 of Egypt; 4714 x4480 and what x834 ye did 6213 z8804 unto the two 8147 kings 4428 of the Amorites, 567 that x834 [were] on the other side 5676 Jordan, 3383 Sihon 5511 and Og, 5747 whom x834 ye utterly destroyed. 2763 z8689 x853

2:11 And as soon as we had heard 8085 z8799 [these things], our hearts 3824 did melt, 4549 z8735 neither x3808 did there remain 6965 z8804 any more x5750 courage 7307 in any man 376 because y6440 of x4480 x6440 you: for x3588 the LORD 3068 your God, 430 he x1931 [is] God 430 in heaven 8064 above, 4605 x4480 and in x5921 earth 776 beneath. x4480 x8478

2:12 Now x6258 therefore, I pray x4994 you, swear 7650 z8734 unto me by the LORD, 3068 since 3588 I have showed y6213 z8804 you kindness, 2617 x6213 x5973 that ye x859 will also x1571 show 6213 z8804 kindness 2617 unto x5973 my father's 1 house, 1004 and give 5414 z8804 me a true 571 token: 226

2:13 And [that] ye will save alive 2421 z8689 x853 my father, 1 and my mother, 517 and my brethren, 251 and my sisters, 269 and all x3605 that x834 they have, and deliver 5337 z8689 x853 our lives 5315 from death. 4194 x4480

2:14 And the men y582 x376 answered 559 z8799 her, Our life 5315 for x8478 yours, y4191 z8800 if x518 ye utter 5046 z8686 not x3808 x853 this x2088 our business. 1697 And it shall be, x1961 when the LORD 3068 hath given 5414 z8800 us x853 the land, 776 that we will deal 6213 z8804 kindly 2617 and truly 571 with x5973 thee.

2:15 Then she let them down 3381 z8686 by a cord 2256 through 1157 the window: 2474 for x3588 her house 1004 [was] upon the town y7023 x2346 wall, y2346 x7023 and she x1931 dwelt 3427 z8802 upon the wall. 2346

2:16 And she said 559 z8799 unto them, Get y3212 z8798 x1980 you to the mountain, 2022 lest x6435 the pursuers 7291 z8802 meet 6293 z8799 you; and hide y2247 z8738 yourselves x2247 there x8033 three 7969 days, 3117 until x5704 the pursuers 7291 z8802 be returned: 7725 z8800 and afterward 310 may ye go y3212 z8799 x1980 your way. 1870

2:17 And the men y582 x376 said 559 z8799 unto x413 her, We x587 [will be] blameless 5355 of this thine oath 7621 x4480 x2088 which x834 thou hast made us swear. 7650 z8689

2:18 Behold, x2009 [when] we x587 come 935 z8802 into the land, 776 thou shalt bind 7194 z8799 x853 this x2088 line 8615 of scarlet 8144 thread 2339 in the window 2474 which x834 thou didst let us down x3381 by: y3381 z8689 and thou shalt bring 622 z8799 thy father, 1 and thy mother, 517 and thy brethren, 251 and all x3605 thy father's 1 household, 1004 home 1004 unto x413 thee.

2:19 And it shall be, x1961 [that] whosoever 834 x3605 shall go out 3318 z8799 of the doors 1817 x4480 of thy house 1004 into the street, 2351 his blood 1818 [shall be] upon his head, 7218 and we x587 [will be] guiltless: 5355 and whosoever x3605 x834 shall be x1961 with x854 thee in the house, 1004 his blood 1818 [shall be] on our head, 7218 if x518 [any] hand 3027 be x1961 upon him.

2:20 And if x518 thou utter 5046 z8686 x853 this x2088 our business, 1697 then we will be x1961 quit 5355 of thine oath 7621 x4480 which x834 thou hast made us to swear. 7650 z8689

2:21 And she said, 559 z8799 According unto your words, 1697 so x3651 [be] it. x1931 And she sent them away, 7971 z8762 and they departed: y3212 z8799 x1980 and she bound 7194 z8799 x853 the scarlet 8144 line 8615 in the window. 2474

2:22 And they went, y3212 z8799 x1980 and came 935 z8799 unto the mountain, 2022 and abode 3427 z8799 there x8033 three 7969 days, 3117 until x5704 the pursuers 7291 z8802 were returned: 7725 z8804 and the pursuers 7291 z8802 sought 1245 z8762 [them] throughout all x3605 the way, 1870 but found 4672 z8804 [them] not. x3808

2:23 ¶ So the two 8147 men y582 x376 returned, 7725 z8799 and descended 3381 z8799 from the mountain, 2022 x4480 and passed over, 5674 z8799 and came 935 z8799 to x413 Joshua 3091 the son 1121 of Nun, 5126 and told 5608 z8762 him x853 all x3605 [things] that befell 4672 z8802 them:

2:24 And they said 559 z8799 unto x413 Joshua, 3091 Truly 3588 the LORD 3068 hath delivered 5414 z8804 into our hands 3027 x853 all x3605 the land; 776 for even x1571 all x3605 the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of the country 776 do faint 4127 z8738 because y6440 of x4480 x6440 us.
