Deuteronomy 2

1 The story is continued, that they were not to meddle with the Edomites, 9 nor with the Moabites, 17 nor with the Ammonites, 24 but Sihon the Amorite was subdued by them.

 2:1 ¶ Then we turned, 6437 z8799 and took our journey 5265 z8799 into the wilderness 4057 by the way 1870 of the Red 5488 sea, 3220 as x834 the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 z8765 unto x413 me: and we compassed 5437 z8799 x853 mount 2022 Seir 8165 many 7227 days. 3117

 2:2 And the LORD 3068 spoke 559 z8799 unto x413 me, saying, 559 z8800

 2:3 Ye have compassed 5437 z8800 x853 this x2088 mountain 2022 long enough: 7227 turn 6437 z8798 you northward. 6828

 2:4 And command 6680 z8761 thou the people, 5971 saying, 559 z8800 Ye x859 [are] to pass y5674 z8802 through x5674 the coast 1366 of your brethren 251 the children 1121 of Esau, 6215 which dwell 3427 z8802 in Seir; 8165 and they shall be afraid 3372 z8799 of x4480 you: take ye good y3966 heed y8104 z8738 unto yourselves therefore: x8104 x3966

 2:5 Meddle 1624 z8691 not x408 with them; for x3588 I will not x3808 give 5414 z8799 you of their land, 776 x4480 no, not so much x5704 as a foot y7272 breadth; 4096 3709 x7272 because x3588 I have given 5414 z8804 x853 mount 2022 Seir 8165 unto Esau 6215 [for] a possession. 3425

 2:6 Ye shall buy 7666 z8799 meat 400 of x4480 x854 them for money, 3701 that ye may eat; 398 z8804 and ye shall also x1571 buy 3739 z8799 water 4325 of x4480 x854 them for money, 3701 that ye may drink. 8354 z8804

 2:7 For x3588 the LORD 3068 thy God 430 hath blessed 1288 z8765 thee in all x3605 the works 4639 of thy hand: 3027 he knoweth 3045 z8804 thy walking y3212 z8800 through x1980 x853 this x2088 great 1419 wilderness: 4057 these x2088 forty 705 years 8141 the LORD 3068 thy God 430 [hath been] with x5973 thee; thou hast lacked 2637 z8804 nothing. 1697 x3808

 2:8 And when we passed y5674 z8799 by x5674 from x4480 x854 our brethren 251 the children 1121 of Esau, 6215 which dwelt 3427 z8802 in Seir, 8165 through the way 1870 x4480 of the plain 6160 from Elath, 359 x4480 and from Ezion-gaber, 6100 x4480 we turned 6437 z8799 and passed 5674 z8799 by the way 1870 of the wilderness 4057 of Moab. 4124

 2:9 And the LORD 3068 said 559 z8799 unto x413 me, Distress 6696 z8799 not x408 x853 the Moabites, 4124 neither x408 contend 1624 z8691 with them in battle: 4421 for x3588 I will not x3808 give 5414 z8799 thee of their land 776 x4480 [for] a possession; 3425 because x3588 I have given 5414 z8804 x853 Ar 6144 unto the children 1121 of Lot 3876 [for] a possession. 3425

 2:10 The Emims 368 dwelt 3427 z8804 therein in times past, 6440 a people 5971 great, 1419 and many, 7227 and tall, 7311 z8802 as the Anakims; 6062

 2:11 Which 1992 also x637 were accounted 2803 z8735 giants, 7497 as the Anakims; 6062 but the Moabites 4125 call 7121 z8799 them Emims. 368

 2:12 The Horims 2752 also dwelt 3427 z8804 in Seir 8165 formerly; 6440 but the children 1121 of Esau 6215 succeeded 3423 z8799 them, when they had destroyed 8045 z8686 them from before 6440 x4480 them, and dwelt 3427 z8799 in their stead; x8478 as x834 Israel 3478 did 6213 z8804 unto the land 776 of his possession, 3425 which x834 the LORD 3068 gave 5414 z8804 unto them.

 2:13 Now x6258 rise up, 6965 z8798 [said I], and get you over 5674 z8798 x853 the brook 5158 Zered. 2218 And we went over 5674 z8799 x853 the brook 5158 Zered. 2218

 2:14 And the space 3117 in which x834 we came 1980 z8804 from Kadesh-barnea, 6947 x4480 until x5704 x834 we were come over 5674 z8804 x853 the brook 5158 Zered, 2218 [was] thirty 7970 and eight 8083 years; 8141 until x5704 all x3605 the generation 1755 of the men y582 x376 of war 4421 were wasted x8552 out y8552 z8800 from among 7130 x4480 the host, 4264 as x834 the LORD 3068 swore 7650 z8738 unto them.

 2:15 For indeed x1571 the hand 3027 of the LORD 3068 was x1961 against them, to destroy 2000 z8800 them from among 7130 x4480 the host, 4264 until x5704 they were consumed. 8552 z8800

 2:16 ¶ So it came to pass, x1961 when x834 all x3605 the men y582 x376 of war 4421 were consumed 8552 z8804 and dead 4191 z8800 from among 7130 x4480 the people, 5971

 2:17 That the LORD 3068 spoke 1696 z8762 unto x413 me, saying, 559 z8800

 2:18 Thou x859 art to pass over 5674 z8802 through x853 Ar 6144 x853 the coast 1366 of Moab, 4124 this day: 3117

 2:19 And [when] thou comest nigh 7126 z8804 over against 4136 the children 1121 of Ammon, 5983 distress 6696 z8799 them not, x408 nor x408 meddle 1624 z8691 with them: for x3588 I will not x3808 give 5414 z8799 thee of the land 776 x4480 of the children 1121 of Ammon 5983 [any] possession; 3425 because x3588 I have given 5414 z8804 it unto the children 1121 of Lot 3876 [for] a possession. 3425

 2:20 (That x1931 also x637 was accounted 2803 z8735 a land 776 of giants: 7497 giants 7497 dwelt 3427 z8804 therein in old time; 6440 and the Ammonites 5984 call 7121 z8799 them Zamzummims; 2157

 2:21 A people 5971 great, 1419 and many, 7227 and tall, 7311 z8802 as the Anakims; 6062 but the LORD 3068 destroyed 8045 z8686 them before 6440 x4480 them; and they succeeded 3423 z8799 them, and dwelt 3427 z8799 in their stead: x8478

 2:22 As x834 he did 6213 z8804 to the children 1121 of Esau, 6215 which dwelt 3427 z8802 in Seir, 8165 when x834 he destroyed 8045 z8689 x853 the Horims 2752 from before 6440 x4480 them; and they succeeded 3423 z8799 them, and dwelt 3427 z8799 in their stead x8478 even unto x5704 this x2088 day: 3117

 2:23 And the Avims y5761 x5757 which dwelt 3427 z8802 in Hazerim, 2699 [even] unto x5704 Azzah, 5804 the Caphtorims, 3732 which came forth 3318 z8802 out of Caphtor, 3731 x4480 destroyed 8045 z8689 them, and dwelt 3427 z8799 in their stead.) x8478

 2:24 ¶ Rise ye up, 6965 z8798 take your journey, 5265 z8798 and pass over 5674 z8798 x853 the river 5158 Arnon: 769 behold, 7200 z8798 I have given 5414 z8804 into thine hand 3027 x853 Sihon 5511 the Amorite, 567 king 4428 of Heshbon, 2809 and his land: 776 begin 2490 z8685 to possess 3423 z8798 [it], and contend 1624 z8690 with him in battle. 4421

 2:25 This x2088 day 3117 will I begin 2490 z8686 to put 5414 z8800 the dread 6343 of thee and the fear 3374 of thee upon x5921 the nations 5971 y6440 [that are] under x8478 the whole x3605 heaven, 8064 who x834 shall hear 8085 z8799 report 8088 of thee, and shall tremble, 7264 z8804 and be in anguish 2342 z8804 because x4480 x6440 of thee. y6440

 2:26 ¶ And I sent 7971 z8799 messengers 4397 out of the wilderness 4057 x4480 of Kedemoth 6932 unto x413 Sihon 5511 king 4428 of Heshbon 2809 with words 1697 of peace, 7965 saying, 559 z8800

 2:27 Let me pass 5674 z8799 through thy land: 776 I will go y3212 z8799 x1980 along by the highway, 1870 I will neither x3808 turn 5493 z8799 unto the right hand 3225 nor to the left. 8040

 2:28 Thou shalt sell 7666 z8686 me meat 400 for money, 3701 that I may eat; 398 z8804 and give 5414 z8799 me water 4325 for money, 3701 that I may drink: 8354 z8804 only x7535 I will pass through 5674 z8799 on my feet; 7272

 2:29 (As x834 the children 1121 of Esau 6215 which dwell 3427 z8802 in Seir, 8165 and the Moabites 4125 which dwell 3427 z8802 in Ar, 6144 did 6213 z8804 unto me;) until x5704 x834 I shall pass over 5674 z8799 x853 Jordan 3383 into x413 the land 776 which x834 the LORD 3068 our God 430 giveth 5414 z8802 us.

 2:30 But Sihon 5511 king 4428 of Heshbon 2809 would 14 z8804 not x3808 let us pass 5674 z8687 by him: for x3588 the LORD 3068 thy God 430 hardened 7185 z8689 x853 his spirit, 7307 and made his heart y3824 obstinate, 553 z8765 x853 x3824 that x4616 he might deliver 5414 z8800 him into thy hand, 3027 as [appeareth] this x2088 day. 3117

 2:31 And the LORD 3068 said 559 z8799 unto x413 me, Behold, 7200 z8798 I have begun 2490 z8689 to give 5414 z8800 x853 Sihon 5511 and his land 776 before 6440 thee: begin 2490 z8685 to possess, 3423 z8798 that thou mayest inherit 3423 z8800 x853 his land. 776

 2:32 Then Sihon 5511 came out 3318 z8799 against 7125 z8800 us, he x1931 and all x3605 his people, 5971 to fight 4421 at Jahaz. 3096

 2:33 And the LORD 3068 our God 430 delivered 5414 z8799 him before 6440 us; and we smote 5221 z8686 x853 him, and his sons, 1121 and all x3605 his people. 5971

 2:34 And we took 3920 z8799 x853 all x3605 his cities 5892 at that x1931 time, 6256 and utterly destroyed 2763 z8686 the men, 4962 and the women, 802 and the little ones, 2945 x853 of every x3605 city, 5892 we left 7604 z8689 none x3808 to remain: 8300

 2:35 Only x7535 the cattle 929 we took for a prey 962 z8804 unto ourselves, and the spoil 7998 of the cities 5892 which x834 we took. 3920 z8804

 2:36 From x4480 Aroer, 6177 which x834 [is] by x5921 the brink 8193 of the river 5158 of Arnon, 769 and [from] the city 5892 that x834 [is] by the river, 5158 even unto x5704 Gilead, 1568 there was x1961 not x3808 one city 7151 too strong 7682 z8804 for x4480 us: the LORD 3068 our God 430 delivered 5414 z8804 x853 all x3605 unto x6440 us: y6440

 2:37 Only x7535 unto x413 the land 776 of the children 1121 of Ammon 5983 thou camest 7126 z8804 not, x3808 [nor] unto any x3605 place 3027 of the river 5158 Jabbok, 2999 nor unto the cities 5892 in the mountains, 2022 nor unto whatsoever x3605 the LORD 3068 our God 430 forbade 6680 z8765 us.
