2 Chronicles 24

1 Joash reigneth well all the days of Jehoiada. 4 He giveth order for the repair of the Temple. 15 Jehoiada's death and honourable burial. 17 Joash, falling to idolatry, slayeth Zechariah the son of Jehoiada. 23 Joash is spoiled by the Syrians, and slain by Zabad and Jehozabad. 27 Amaziah succeedeth him.

 24:1 ¶ Joash 3101 [was] seven 7651 years 8141 old 1121 when he began to reign, 4427 z8800 and he reigned 4427 z8804 forty 705 years 8141 in Jerusalem. 3389 His mother's 517 name 8034 also [was] Zibiah 6645 of Beer-sheba. 884 x4480

 24:2 And Joash y3101 x3077 did 6213 z8799 [that which was] right 3477 in the sight 5869 of the LORD 3068 all x3605 the days 3117 of Jehoiada 3077 the priest. 3548

 24:3 And Jehoiada 3077 took 5375 z8799 for him two 8147 wives; 802 and he begot 3205 z8686 sons 1121 and daughters. 1323

 24:4 ¶ And it came to pass x1961 after 310 this, x3651 [that] Joash 3101 was x1961 minded 3820 x5973 to repair 2318 z8763 x853 the house 1004 of the LORD. 3068

 24:5 And he gathered together 6908 z8799 x853 the priests 3548 and the Levites, 3881 and said 559 z8799 to them, Go out 3318 z8798 unto the cities 5892 of Judah, 3063 and gather 6908 z8798 of all x4480 x3605 Israel 3478 money 3701 to repair 2388 z8763 x853 the house 1004 of your God 430 from 1767 x4480 year 8141 to year, 8141 and see that ye x859 hasten 4116 z8762 the matter. 1697 Howbeit the Levites 3881 hastened 4116 z8765 [it] not. x3808

 24:6 And the king 4428 called 7121 z8799 for Jehoiada 3077 the chief, 7218 and said 559 z8799 unto him, Why x4069 hast thou not x3808 required 1875 z8804 of x5921 the Levites 3881 to bring in 935 z8687 out of Judah 3063 x4480 and out of Jerusalem 3389 x4480 x853 the collection, 4864 [according to the commandment] of Moses 4872 the servant 5650 of the LORD, 3068 and of the congregation 6951 of Israel, 3478 for the tabernacle 168 of witness? 5715

 24:7 For x3588 the sons 1121 of Athaliah, 6271 that wicked y4849 woman, x4849 had broken up 6555 z8804 x853 the house 1004 of God; 430 and also x1571 all x3605 the dedicated things 6944 of the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 did they bestow 6213 z8804 upon Baalim. 1168

 24:8 And at the king's 4428 commandment 559 z8799 they made 6213 z8799 a 259 chest, 727 and set 5414 z8799 it without 2351 at the gate 8179 of the house 1004 of the LORD. 3068

 24:9 And they made 5414 z8799 a proclamation 6963 through Judah 3063 and Jerusalem, 3389 to bring in 935 z8687 to the LORD 3068 the collection 4864 [that] Moses 4872 the servant 5650 of God 430 [laid] upon x5921 Israel 3478 in the wilderness. 4057

 24:10 And all x3605 the princes 8269 and all x3605 the people 5971 rejoiced, 8055 z8799 and brought in, 935 z8686 and cast 7993 z8686 into the chest, 727 until x5704 they had made an end. 3615 z8763

 24:11 Now it came to pass, x1961 that at what time 6256 x853 the chest 727 was brought 935 z8686 unto x413 the king's 4428 office 6486 by the hand 3027 of the Levites, 3881 and when they saw 7200 z8800 that x3588 [there was] much 7227 money, 3701 the king's 4428 scribe 5608 z8802 and the high 7218 priest's 3548 officer 6496 came 935 z8804 and emptied 6168 z8762 x853 the chest, 727 and took 5375 z8799 it, and carried 7725 z0 it to x413 his place 4725 again. y7725 z8686 Thus x3541 they did 6213 z8804 day 3117 by day, 3117 and gathered 622 z8799 money 3701 in abundance. 7230

 24:12 And the king 4428 and Jehoiada 3077 gave 5414 z8799 it to x413 such as did 6213 z8802 the work 4399 of the service 5656 of the house 1004 of the LORD, 3068 and hired 7936 z8802 x1961 masons 2672 z8802 and carpenters 2796 to repair 2318 z8763 the house 1004 of the LORD, 3068 and also x1571 such as wrought 2796 iron 1270 and brass 5178 to mend 2388 z8763 x853 the house 1004 of the LORD. 3068

 24:13 So the workmen 4399 6213 z8802 wrought, 6213 z8799 and the work 4399 was y5927 z8799 perfected 724 x5927 by x3027 them, y3027 and they set 5975 z8686 x853 the house 1004 of God 430 in x5921 his state, 4971 and strengthened 553 z8762 it.

 24:14 And when they had finished 3615 z8763 [it], they brought 935 z8689 x853 the rest 7605 of the money 3701 before 6440 the king 4428 and Jehoiada, 3077 whereof were made 6213 z8799 vessels 3627 for the house 1004 of the LORD, 3068 [even] vessels 3627 to minister, 8335 and to offer 5927 z8687 [withal], and spoons, 3709 and vessels 3627 of gold 2091 and silver. 3701 And they offered 5927 z8688 x1961 burnt offerings 5930 in the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 continually 8548 all x3605 the days 3117 of Jehoiada. 3077

 24:15 ¶ But Jehoiada 3077 waxed old, 2204 z8799 and was full 7646 z8799 of days 3117 when he died; 4191 z8799 a hundred 3967 and thirty 7970 years 8141 old 1121 [was he] when he died. 4194

 24:16 And they buried 6912 z8799 him in the city 5892 of David 1732 among x5973 the kings, 4428 because x3588 he had done 6213 z8804 good 2896 in Israel, 3478 both toward x5973 God, 430 and toward his house. 1004

 24:17 Now after 310 the death 4194 of Jehoiada 3077 came 935 z8804 the princes 8269 of Judah, 3063 and made obeisance 7812 z8691 to the king. 4428 Then x227 the king 4428 hearkened 8085 z8804 unto x413 them.

 24:18 And they left 5800 z8799 x853 the house 1004 of the LORD 3068 God 430 of their fathers, 1 and served 5647 z8799 x853 groves 842 and idols: 6091 and wrath 7110 came x1961 upon x5921 Judah 3063 and Jerusalem 3389 for this x2063 their trespass. 819

 24:19 Yet he sent 7971 z8799 prophets 5030 to them, to bring them again 7725 z8687 unto x413 the LORD; 3068 and they testified 5749 z8686 against them: but they would not x3808 give ear. 238 z8689

 24:20 And the Spirit 7307 of God 430 came y3847 z8804 upon x3847 x853 Zechariah 2148 the son 1121 of Jehoiada 3077 the priest, 3548 which stood 5975 z8799 above x4480 x5921 the people, 5971 and said 559 z8799 unto them, Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 God, 430 Why x4100 transgress 5674 z8802 ye x859 x853 the commandments 4687 of the LORD, 3068 that ye cannot x3808 prosper? 6743 z8686 because x3588 ye have forsaken 5800 z8804 the LORD, 3068 he hath also forsaken 5800 z8799 x853 you.

 24:21 And they conspired 7194 z8799 against x5921 him, and stoned 7275 z8799 him with stones 68 at the commandment 4687 of the king 4428 in the court 2691 of the house 1004 of the LORD. 3068

 24:22 Thus Joash 3101 the king 4428 remembered 2142 z8804 not x3808 the kindness 2617 which x834 Jehoiada 3077 his father 1 had done 6213 z8804 to x5973 him, but slew 2026 z8799 x853 his son. 1121 And when he died, y4194 x4191 he said, 559 z8804 The LORD 3068 look y7200 z8799 upon x7200 [it], and require 1875 z8799 [it].

 24:23 ¶ And it came to pass x1961 at the end 8622 of the year, 8141 [that] the host 2428 of Syria 758 came up 5927 z8804 against x5921 him: and they came 935 z8799 to x413 Judah 3063 and Jerusalem, 3389 and destroyed 7843 z8686 x853 all x3605 the princes 8269 of the people 5971 from among the people, 5971 x4480 and sent 7971 z8765 all x3605 the spoil 7998 of them unto the king 4428 of Damascus. 1834

 24:24 For x3588 the army 2428 of the Syrians 758 came 935 z8804 with a small y4705 company x4705 of men, y582 x376 and the LORD 3068 delivered 5414 z8804 a very 3966 great 7230 host 2428 into their hand, 3027 because x3588 they had forsaken 5800 z8804 x853 the LORD 3068 God 430 of their fathers. 1 So they executed 6213 z8804 judgment 8201 against x854 Joash. 3101

 24:25 And when they were departed y3212 z8800 x1980 from x4480 him, (for x3588 they left 5800 z8804 him in great 7227 diseases,) 4251 his own servants 5650 conspired 7194 z8694 against x5921 him for the blood 1818 of the sons 1121 of Jehoiada 3077 the priest, 3548 and slew 2026 z8799 him on x5921 his bed, 4296 and he died: 4191 z8799 and they buried 6912 z8799 him in the city 5892 of David, 1732 but they buried 6912 z8804 him not x3808 in the sepulchers 6913 of the kings. 4428

 24:26 And these x428 are they that conspired 7194 z8693 against x5921 him; Zabad 2066 the son 1121 of Shimeath 8100 an Ammonitess, y5985 x5984 and Jehozabad 3075 the son 1121 of Shimrith 8116 a Moabitess. 4125

 24:27 ¶ Now [concerning] his sons, 1121 and the greatness 7230 y7235 z8799 z8675 of the burdens 4853 [laid] upon x5921 him, and the repairing 3247 of the house 1004 of God, 430 behold, x2009 they [are] written 3789 z8803 in x5921 the story 4097 of the book 5612 of the kings. 4428 And Amaziah 558 his son 1121 reigned 4427 z8799 in his stead. x8478
