Obadiah 1

1 The destruction of Edom, 3 for their pride, 10 and for their wrong unto Jacob. 17 The salvation and victory of Jacob.

 1:1 ¶ The vision 2377 of Obadiah. 5662 Thus x3541 saith 559 z8804 the Lord 136 GOD 3069 concerning Edom; 123 We have heard 8085 z8804 a rumour 8052 from x4480 x854 the LORD, 3068 and an ambassador 6735 is sent 7971 z8795 among the heathen, 1471 Arise 6965 z8798 ye, and let us rise up 6965 z8799 against x5921 her in battle. 4421

 1:2 Behold, x2009 I have made 5414 z8804 thee small 6996 among the heathen: 1471 thou x859 art greatly 3966 despised. 959 z8803

 1:3 ¶ The pride 2087 of thine heart 3820 hath deceived 5377 z8689 thee, thou that dwellest 7931 z8802 in the clefts 2288 of the rock, 5553 whose habitation y3427 z8800 x7675 [is] high; 4791 that saith 559 z8802 in his heart, 3820 Who x4310 shall bring me down 3381 z8686 to the ground? 776

 1:4 Though x518 thou exalt 1361 z8686 [thyself] as the eagle, 5404 and though x518 thou set 7760 z8800 thy nest 7064 among x996 the stars, 3556 thence x4480 x8033 will I bring thee down, 3381 z8686 saith 5002 z8803 the LORD. 3068

 1:5 If x518 thieves 1590 came 935 z8804 to thee, if x518 robbers 7703 z8802 by night, 3915 (how x349 art thou cut off!) 1820 z8738 would they not x3808 have stolen 1589 z8799 till they had enough? 1767 if x518 the grapegatherers 1219 z8802 came 935 z8804 to thee, would they not x3808 leave 7604 z8686 [some] grapes? 5955

 1:6 How x349 are [the things] of Esau 6215 searched out! 2664 z8738 [how] are his hidden y4710 things x4710 sought up! 1158 z8738

 1:7 All x3605 the men y582 x376 of thy confederacy 1285 have brought 7971 z8765 thee [even] to x5704 the border: 1366 the men y582 x376 that were at peace 7965 with thee have deceived 5377 z8689 thee, [and] prevailed 3201 z8804 against thee; [they that eat] thy bread 3899 have laid 7760 z8799 a wound 4204 under x8478 thee: [there is] none x369 understanding 8394 in him.

 1:8 Shall I not x3808 in that x1931 day, 3117 saith 5002 z8803 the LORD, 3068 even destroy 6 z8689 the wise 2450 [men] out of Edom, 123 x4480 and understanding 8394 out of the mount 2022 x4480 of Esau? 6215

 1:9 And thy mighty 1368 [men], O Teman, 8487 shall be dismayed, 2865 z8804 to the end that x4616 every one 376 of the mount 2022 x4480 of Esau 6215 may be cut off 3772 z8735 by slaughter. 6993 x4480

 1:10 ¶ For [thy] violence 2555 x4480 against thy brother 251 Jacob 3290 shame 955 shall cover 3680 z8762 thee, and thou shalt be cut off 3772 z8738 for ever. 5769

 1:11 In the day 3117 that thou stoodest 5975 z8800 on the other side, x4480 x5048 in the day 3117 that the strangers 2114 z8801 carried away captive 7617 z8800 his forces, 2428 and foreigners 5237 entered y935 z8804 into x935 his gates, 8179 and cast 3032 z8804 lots 1486 upon x5921 Jerusalem, 3389 even x1571 thou x859 [wast] as one 259 of x4480 them.

 1:12 But thou shouldest not x408 have looked 7200 z8799 on the day 3117 of thy brother 251 in the day 3117 that he became a stranger; y5235 x5237 neither x408 shouldest thou have rejoiced 8055 z8799 over the children 1121 of Judah 3063 in the day 3117 of their destruction; 6 z8800 neither x408 shouldest thou have spoken y6310 proudly 1431 z8686 x6310 in the day 3117 of distress. 6869

 1:13 Thou shouldest not x408 have entered 935 z8799 into the gate 8179 of my people 5971 in the day 3117 of their calamity; 343 yea, x1571 thou x859 shouldest not x408 have looked 7200 z8799 on their affliction 7451 in the day 3117 of their calamity, 343 nor x408 have laid 7971 z8799 [hands] on their substance 2428 in the day 3117 of their calamity; 343

 1:14 Neither x408 shouldest thou have stood 5975 z8799 in x5921 the crossway, 6563 to cut off 3772 z8687 x853 those of his that did escape; 6412 neither x408 shouldest thou have delivered up 5462 z8686 those of his that did remain 8300 in the day 3117 of distress. 6869

 1:15 For x3588 the day 3117 of the LORD 3068 [is] near 7138 upon x5921 all x3605 the heathen: 1471 as x834 thou hast done, 6213 z8804 it shall be done 6213 z8735 unto thee: thy reward 1576 shall return 7725 z8799 upon thine own head. 7218

 1:16 For x3588 as x834 ye have drunk 8354 z8804 upon x5921 my holy 6944 mountain, 2022 [so] shall all x3605 the heathen 1471 drink 8354 z8799 continually, 8548 yea, they shall drink, 8354 z8804 and they shall swallow down, 3886 z8804 and they shall be x1961 as though they had not 3808 been. x1961

 1:17 ¶ But upon mount 2022 Zion 6726 shall be x1961 deliverance, 6413 and there shall be x1961 holiness; 6944 and the house 1004 of Jacob 3290 shall possess 3423 z8804 x853 their possessions. 4180

 1:18 And the house 1004 of Jacob 3290 shall be x1961 a fire, 784 and the house 1004 of Joseph 3130 a flame, 3852 and the house 1004 of Esau 6215 for stubble, 7179 and they shall kindle 1814 z8804 in them, and devour 398 z8804 them; and there shall not x3808 be x1961 [any] remaining 8300 of the house 1004 of Esau; 6215 for x3588 the LORD 3068 hath spoken 1696 z8765 [it].

 1:19 And [they of] the south 5045 shall possess 3423 z8804 x853 the mount 2022 of Esau; 6215 and [they of] the plain 8219 x853 the Philistines: 6430 and they shall possess 3423 z8804 x853 the fields 7704 of Ephraim, 669 and the fields 7704 of Samaria: 8111 and Benjamin 1144 [shall possess] x853 Gilead. 1568

 1:20 And the captivity 1546 of this x2088 host 2426 of the children 1121 of Israel 3478 [shall possess] that x834 of the Canaanites, 3669 [even] unto x5704 Zarephath; 6886 and the captivity 1546 of Jerusalem, 3389 which x834 [is] in Sepharad, 5614 shall possess 3423 z8799 x853 the cities 5892 of the south. 5045

 1:21 And saviours 3467 z8688 shall come up 5927 z8804 on mount 2022 Zion 6726 to judge 8199 z8800 the x853 mount 2022 of Esau; 6215 and the kingdom 4410 shall be x1961 the LORD'S. 3068
