1 Chronicles 11

1 David by a general consent is made king at Hebron. 4 He winneth the castle of Zion from the Jebusites by Joab's valour. 10 A catalogue of David's mighty men.

 11:1 ¶ Then all x3605 Israel 3478 gathered y6908 z8735 themselves x6908 to x413 David 1732 unto Hebron, 2275 saying, 559 z8800 Behold, x2009 we x587 [are] thy bone 6106 and thy flesh. 1320

 11:2 And moreover x1571 in time y8543 past, 8032 x8543 x1571 even x1571 when Saul 7586 was x1961 king, 4428 thou x859 [wast] he that leddest out 3318 z8688 and broughtest in 935 z8688 x853 Israel: 3478 and the LORD 3068 thy God 430 said 559 z8799 unto thee, Thou x859 shalt feed 7462 z8799 x853 my people 5971 x853 Israel, 3478 and thou x859 shalt be x1961 ruler 5057 over x5921 my people y1571 x5971 Israel. 3478

 11:3 Therefore came 935 z8799 all x3605 the elders 2205 of Israel 3478 to x413 the king 4428 to Hebron; 2275 and David 1732 made 3772 z8799 a covenant 1285 with them in Hebron 2275 before 6440 the LORD; 3068 and they anointed 4886 z8799 x853 David 1732 king 4428 over x5921 Israel, 3478 according to the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 by 3027 Samuel. 8050

 11:4 ¶ And David 1732 and all x3605 Israel 3478 went y3212 z8799 x1980 to Jerusalem, 3389 which x1931 [is] Jebus; 2982 where x8033 the Jebusites 2983 [were], the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of the land. 776

 11:5 And the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of Jebus 2982 said 559 z8799 to David, 1732 Thou shalt not x3808 come 935 z8799 hither. x2008 Nevertheless David 1732 took 3920 z8799 x853 the castle 4686 of Zion, 6726 which x1931 [is] the city 5892 of David. 1732

 11:6 And David 1732 said, 559 z8799 Whosoever x3605 smiteth 5221 z8688 the Jebusites 2983 first 7223 shall be x1961 chief 7218 and captain. 8269 So Joab 3097 the son 1121 of Zeruiah 6870 went y5927 z0 first y7223 up, 5927 z8799 x7223 and was x1961 chief. 7218

 11:7 And David 1732 dwelt 3427 z8799 in the castle; 4679 therefore x5921 x3651 they called 7121 z8804 it the city 5892 of David. 1732

 11:8 And he built 1129 z8799 the city 5892 round about, 5439 x4480 even from x4480 Millo 4407 round about: 5439 and Joab 3097 repaired 2421 z8762 x853 the rest 7605 of the city. 5892

 11:9 So David 1732 waxed y3212 z8799 greater y1980 z8800 and greater: 1980 y1419 x1431 for the LORD 3068 of hosts 6635 [was] with x5973 him.

 11:10 ¶ These x428 also [are] the chief 7218 of the mighty men 1368 whom x834 David 1732 had, who strengthened y2388 z8693 themselves x2388 with x5973 him in his kingdom, 4438 [and] with x5973 all x3605 Israel, 3478 to make him king, 4427 z8687 according to the word 1697 of the LORD 3068 concerning x5921 Israel. 3478

 11:11 And this x428 [is] the number 4557 of the mighty men 1368 whom x834 David 1732 had; Jashobeam, 3434 an Hachmonite, 2453 x1121 the chief 7218 of the captains: 7991 z8675 y7970 he x1931 lifted up 5782 z8790 x853 his spear 2595 against x5921 three 7969 hundred 3967 slain 2491 [by him] at one 259 time. 6471

 11:12 And after 310 him [was] Eleazar 499 the son 1121 of Dodo, 1734 the Ahohite, 266 who x1931 [was one] of the three 7969 mighties. 1368

 11:13 He x1931 was x1961 with x5973 David 1732 at Pasdammim, 6450 and there x8033 the Philistines 6430 were gathered together 622 z8738 to battle, 4421 where was x1961 a parcel 2513 of ground 7704 full 4392 of barley; 8184 and the people 5971 fled 5127 z8804 from before 6440 x4480 the Philistines. 6430

 11:14 And they set y3320 z8691 themselves x3320 in the midst 8432 of [that] parcel, 2513 and delivered 5337 z8686 it, and slew 5221 z8686 x853 the Philistines; 6430 and the LORD 3068 saved 3467 z8686 [them] by a great 1419 deliverance. 8668

 11:15 ¶ Now three 7969 of x4480 the thirty 7970 captains 7218 went down 3381 z8799 to x5921 the rock 6697 to x413 David, 1732 into x413 the cave 4631 of Adullam; 5725 and the host 4264 of the Philistines 6430 encamped 2583 z8802 in the valley 6010 of Rephaim. 7497

 11:16 And David 1732 [was] then x227 in the hold, 4686 and the Philistines' 6430 garrison 5333 [was] then x227 at Bethlehem. 1035

 11:17 And David 1732 longed, 183 z8691 and said, 559 z8799 Oh that x4310 one would give me drink 8248 z8686 of the water 4325 of the well 953 x4480 of Bethlehem, 1035 that x834 [is] at the gate! 8179

 11:18 And the three 7969 brake through 1234 z8799 the host 4264 of the Philistines, 6430 and drew 7579 z8799 water 4325 out of the well 953 x4480 of Bethlehem, 1035 that x834 [was] by the gate, 8179 and took 5375 z8799 [it], and brought 935 z8686 [it] to x413 David: 1732 but David 1732 would 14 z8804 not x3808 drink 8354 z8800 [of] it, but poured it out 5258 z8762 x853 to the LORD, 3068

 11:19 And said, 559 z8799 My God 430 x4480 forbid y2486 it x2486 me, that I should do 6213 z8800 x4480 this thing: 2063 shall I drink 8354 z8799 the blood 1818 of these x428 men y582 x376 that have put their lives x5315 in jeopardy? y5315 for x3588 with [the jeopardy of] their lives 5315 they brought 935 z8689 it. Therefore he would 14 z8804 not x3808 drink 8354 z8800 it. These things x428 did 6213 z8804 these three 7969 mightiest. 1368

 11:20 ¶ And Abishai 52 the brother 251 of Joab, 3097 he x1931 was x1961 chief 7218 of the three: 7969 for lifting up 5782 z8790 x853 his spear 2595 against x5921 three 7969 hundred, 3967 he x1931 slew 2491 [them], and had a name 8034 among the three. 7969

 11:21 Of x4480 the three, 7969 he was more honourable 3513 z8737 than the two; 8147 for he was x1961 their captain: 8269 howbeit he attained 935 z8804 not x3808 to x5704 the [first] three. 7969

 11:22 Benaiah 1141 the son 1121 of Jehoiada, y3077 x3111 the son 1121 of a valiant 2428 man 376 of x4480 Kabzeel, 6909 who had done many 7227 acts; 6467 he x1931 slew 5221 z8689 x853 two 8147 lionlike men 739 of Moab: 4124 also he x1931 went down 3381 z8804 and slew 5221 z8689 x853 a lion 738 in 8432 a pit 953 in a snowy 7950 day. 3117

 11:23 And he x1931 slew 5221 z8689 x853 an Egyptian, 4713 x376 a man 376 of [great] stature, 4060 five 2568 cubits 520 high; and in the Egyptian's 4713 hand 3027 [was] a spear 2595 like a weaver's 707 z8802 beam; 4500 and he went down 3381 z8799 to x413 him with a staff, 7626 and plucked 1497 z8799 x853 the spear 2595 out of the Egyptian's y4713 hand, 3027 x4480 x4713 and slew 2026 z8799 him with his own spear. 2595

 11:25 Behold, 2009 he x1931 was honourable 3513 z8737 among x4480 the thirty, 7970 but attained 935 z8804 not x3808 to x413 the [first] three: 7969 and David 1732 set 7760 z8799 him over x5921 his guard. 4928

 11:26 ¶ Also the valiant men 1368 of the armies 2428 [were], Asahel 6214 the brother 251 of Joab, 3097 Elhanan 445 the son 1121 of Dodo 1734 of Bethlehem, 1035 x4480
