Ioel 2

1 He sheweth unto Zion the terribleness of God's judgment. 1 He exhorteth to repentance, 15 prescribeth a fast, 18 promiseth a blessing thereon. 21 He comforteth Zion with present, 28 and future blessings.

 2:1 ¶ Blow 8628 z8798 yee the trumpet 7782 in Zion, 6726 & sound an alarme 7321 z8685 in my holy 6944 mountaine: 2022 let all x3605 the inhabitants 3427 z8802 of the land 776 tremble: 7264 z8799 for x3588 the day 3117 of the LORD 3068 cometh, 935 z8804 for x3588 [it is] nie at hand; 7138

 2:2 A day 3117 of darkenesse 2822 and of gloominesse, 653 a day 3117 of clouds 6051 and of thicke darkenesse, 6205 as the morning 7837 spread 6566 z8803 vpon x5921 the mountaines: 2022 a great 7227 people 5971 and a strong, 6099 there hath not x3808 beene 1961 z8738 euer 5769 x4480 the like, x3644 neither x3808 shall be any more 3254 z8686 after 310 it, euen to x5704 the yeres 8141 of many y1755 generations. 1755

 2:3 A fire 784 deuoureth 398 z8804 before 6440 them, and behind 310 them a flame 3852 burneth: 3857 z8762 the land 776 [is] as the garden 1588 of Eden 5731 before 6440 them, and behind 310 them a desolate 8077 wildernes, 4057 yea x1571 and nothing x3808 shall escape 6413 x1961 them.

 2:4 The appearance 4758 of them [is] as the appearance 4758 of horses; 5483 and as horse men, 6571 so x3651 shall they runne. 7323 z8799

 2:5 Like the noise 6963 of charets 4818 on x5921 the tops 7218 of mountaines 2022 shall they leape, 7540 z8762 like the noise 6963 of a flame 3851 of fire 784 that deuoureth 398 z8802 the stubble, 7179 as a strong 6099 people, 5971 set in battell y4421 aray. 6186 z8803 x4421

 2:6 Before their face 6440 x4480 the people 5971 shall be much pained: 2342 z8799 all x3605 faces 6440 shall gather 6908 z8765 blacknesse. 6289

 2:7 They shall runne 7323 z8799 like mighty men, 1368 they shall clime 5927 z8799 the wall 2346 like men y582 x376 of warre, 4421 [and] they shall march y3212 z8799 x1980 euery one 376 on his wayes, 1870 and they shall not x3808 breake 5670 z8762 their rankes. 734

 2:8 Neither x3808 shall one 376 thrust 1766 z8799 another, 251 they shall walke y3212 z8799 x1980 euery one 1397 in his path: 4546 and when they fall 5307 z8799 vpon x1157 the sword, 7973 they shall not x3808 be wounded. 1214 z8799

 2:9 They shall runne to and fro 8264 z8799 in the citie: 5892 they shall runne 7323 z8799 vpon the wall: 2346 they shall clime vp 5927 z8799 vpon the houses: 1004 they shall enter in 935 z8799 at x1157 the windowes, 2474 like a theefe. 1590

 2:10 The earth 776 shall quake 7264 z8804 before 6440 them, the heauens 8064 shall tremble, 7493 z8804 the Sun 8121 & the Moone 3394 shall be darke, 6937 z8804 & the starres 3556 shall withdrawe 622 z8804 their shining. 5051

 2:11 And the LORD 3068 shall vtter 5414 z8804 his voyce 6963 before 6440 his armie, 2428 for x3588 his campe 4264 is very 3966 great: 7227 for x3588 [he is] strong 6099 that executeth 6213 z8802 his word: 1697 for x3588 the day 3117 of the LORD 3068 [is] great 1419 and very 3966 terrible, 3372 z8737 and who x4310 can abide 3557 z8686 it?

 2:12 ¶ Therefore also x1571 now, x6258 saith 5002 z8803 the LORD, 3068 turne 7725 z8798 yee euen to x5704 me with all x3605 your heart, 3824 and with fasting, 6685 and with weeping, 1065 and with mourning. 4553

 2:13 And rent 7167 z8798 your heart 3824 and not x408 your garments; 899 and turne 7725 z8798 vnto x413 the LORD 3068 your God: 430 for x3588 he x1931 is gracious 2587 and mercifull, 7349 slow 750 to anger, 639 and of great 7227 kindnesse, 2617 and repenteth 5162 z8737 him of x5921 the euill. 7451

 2:14 Who x4310 knoweth 3045 z8802 if he will returne 7725 z8799 and repent, 5162 z8738 and leaue 7604 z8689 a blessing 1293 behind 310 him, [euen] a meate offring 4503 and a drinke offring 5262 vnto the LORD 3068 your God? 430

 2:15 ¶ Blow 8628 z8798 the trumpet 7782 in Zion, 6726 sanctifie 6942 z8761 a fast, 6685 call 7121 z8798 a solemne assembly. 6116

 2:16 Gather 622 z8798 the people: 5971 sanctifie 6942 z8761 the congregation: 6951 assemble 6908 z8798 the elders: 2205 gather 622 z8798 the children, 5768 and those that sucke 3243 z8802 the breasts: 7699 let the bridegroome 2860 goe forth 3318 z8799 of his chamber, 2315 x4480 and the bride 3618 out of her closet. 2646 x4480

 2:17 Let the priests, 3548 the ministers 8334 z8764 of the LORD, 3068 weepe 1058 z8799 betweene x996 the porch 197 and the altar, 4196 & let them say; 559 z8799 Spare 2347 z8798 x5921 thy people 5971 O LORD, 3068 and giue 5414 z8799 not x408 thine heritage 5159 to reproch; 2781 that the heathen 1471 should rule x4910 ouer y4910 z8800 them: Wherefore x4100 should they say 559 z8799 among the people, 5971 Where x346 [is] their God? 430

 2:18 ¶ Then will the LORD 3068 be iealous 7065 z8762 for his land, 776 and pitie 2550 z8799 x5921 his people. 5971

 2:19 Yea the LORD 3068 will answere 6030 z8799 and say 559 z8799 vnto his people; 5971 Behold, x2009 I will send 7971 z8802 you x853 corne 1715 and wine, 8492 and oyle, 3323 and yee shall be satisfied 7646 z8804 therewith: x854 and I will no x3808 more x5750 make 5414 z8799 you a reproch 2781 among the heathen. 1471

 2:20 But I will remoue farre off 7368 z8686 from x4480 x5921 you the northren 6830 [armie], & will driue 5080 z8689 him into x413 a land 776 barren 6723 and desolate, 8077 with x854 his face 6440 toward x413 the East 6931 sea, 3220 and his hinder part 5490 towards x413 the vtmost 314 Sea, 3220 and his stinke 889 shall come vp, 5927 z8804 and his ill sauour 6709 shall come vp, 5927 z8799 because x3588 he hath done 6213 z8800 great things. 1431 z8689

 2:21 ¶ Feare 3372 z8799 not, x408 O land, 127 be glad 1523 z8798 and reioyce: 8055 z8798 for x3588 the LORD 3068 will doe 6213 z8800 great things. 1431 z8689

 2:22 Be not afraid, 3372 z8799 x408 yee beasts 929 of the field: 7704 for x3588 the pastures 4999 of the wildernesse 4057 doe spring, 1876 z8804 for x3588 the tree 6086 beareth 5375 z8804 her fruit, 6529 the fig tree 8384 and the vine 1612 doe yeeld 5414 z8804 their strength. 2428

 2:23 Be glad 1523 z8798 then, ye children 1121 of Zion, 6726 and reioyce 8055 z8798 in the LORD 3068 your God: 430 for x3588 he hath giuen 5414 z8804 you x853 the former raine 4175 moderately, 6666 and he will cause to come downe 3381 z8686 for you the raine, 1653 the former raine, 4175 & the latter raine 4456 in the first 7223 [month].

 2:24 And the floores 1637 shall bee full 4390 z8804 of wheate, 1250 and the fats 3342 shall ouerflowe 7783 z8689 with wine 8492 and oyle. 3323

 2:25 And I will restore 7999 z8765 to you x853 the yeeres 8141 that x834 the locust 697 hath eaten, 398 z8804 the canker worme, 3218 and the caterpiller, 2625 and the palmer worme, 1501 my great 1419 armie 2428 which x834 I sent 7971 z8765 among you.

 2:26 And ye shall eate y398 z8804 in plentie, 398 z8800 and be satisfied, 7646 z8800 and praise 1984 z8765 x853 the Name 8034 of the LORD 3068 your God, 430 that x834 hath dealt 6213 z8804 wonderously 6381 z8687 with x5973 you: and my people 5971 shall neuer 5769 x3808 be ashamed. 954 z8799

 2:27 And ye shal know 3045 z8804 that x3588 I x589 [am] in the midst 7130 of Israel, 3478 and that I x589 [am] the LORD 3068 your God, 430 and none x369 else: x5750 and my people 5971 shall neuer 5769 x3808 be ashamed. 954 z8799

 2:28 ¶ And it shall come to passe x1961 afterward, 310 x3651 [that] I will powre out 8210 z8799 x853 my Spirit 7307 vpon x5921 all x3605 flesh, 1320 and your sonnes 1121 and your daughters 1323 shall prophecie, 5012 z8738 your old men 2205 shall dreame 2492 z8799 dreames, 2472 your yong men 970 shall see 7200 z8799 visions. 2384

 2:29 And also x1571 vpon x5921 the seruants, 5650 and vpon x5921 the handmaids 8198 in those x1992 dayes 3117 will I powre out 8210 z8799 x853 my Spirit. 7307

 2:30 And I will shew 5414 z8804 wonders 4159 in the heauens, 8064 and in the earth, 776 blood 1818 and fire, 784 and pillars 8490 of smoke. 6227

 2:31 The Sunne 8121 shall be turned 2015 z8735 into darkenesse, 2822 and the Moone 3394 into blood, 1818 before 6440 the great 1419 and the terrible 3372 z8737 day 3117 of the LORD 3068 come. 935 z8800

 2:32 And it shall come to passe x1961 [that] whosoeuer x3605 x834 shall call 7121 z8799 on the Name 8034 of the LORD, 3068 shall bee deliuered: 4422 z8735 for x3588 in mount 2022 Zion 6726 and in Ierusalem 3389 shalbe x1961 deliuerance, 6413 as x834 the LORD 3068 hath said, 559 z8804 and in the remnant, 8300 whom x834 the LORD 3068 shall call. 7121 z8802
